The 18th studio album by 26-year-old Stevie Wonder was released on 28 September 1976.
The 21 songs (across a double album and 4-song single) were recorded over a 2-year period (with more than 130 musicians involved) and resulted in the best-selling album of Wonder’s career. It was an international hit (peaking at #1 in numerous countries), debuting at #1 in the US, where it remained for 13 consecutive weeks. It was the 2nd best-selling album of 1977 (only surpassed by Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours) and was nominated for 7 Grammy Awards (it received awards for Album of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, and Best Producer).
