"We're friends, I'm always gonna be a bit worried Raph when your sick or hurt," she replied with a sort've half-smile. Summer stepped forward to place a paw on his forehead to get a better feel of his temperature and winced slightly at how warm it was. "You think your able to keep food down?" Summer asked, already running through a list of food she could possibly make.
Summer slipped down the lair, the quietness of it immediately putting her on alert ears flicking back and forth listening for any signs of the turtles.
Glancing around she made her way to the kitchen, a piece of paper taped to the counter alerting that they were out but would be back soon but Raph was home.
Relief instantly filled her and she made her way to his bedroom to say hello.
Popping her head in she beamed seeing the giant snapper.
“Hey Raph,” she greeted tail wagging slightly behind her.
Worry however soon took over as the faint scent of illness reached her nose but she didn’t say anything yet.

"Nothing but good things I promise," she reassured with a smile. "Well maybe the occasional embarrassing story here and there but that's about it."
Summer settled on the couch, at ease and in contrast to Leo's caution. To her April's apartment was safe, she didn't have to worry about much here. But just to be safe she quickly stood up and closed any curtains in hopes it might ease up any worry Leo might've had.
The older hummed thoughtfully for a moment before answering his question. "Maybe a year? A year and a half? I've lost track honestly," she admits with a sheepish chuckle. "But I'm adjusting and making the most out of this and that's whats important to me."
Summer's heart pounded in an almost excited way as she made her way up to Aprils apartment, hoodie drawn over her head and ears and tail hidden between her legs (well not as well but she was trying).
In her mind she didn't quite realize how suspicious she might seem until she was approached her door when a sudden voice called out asking her what she was doing.
It wasn't that she was confronted more the fact of who the confronter was. A talking turtle.
Her eyes widened slightly in surprise before quickly recovering, pushing down the quiet spark of hope in her chest that there were others like her out there.
He was uneasy that much she could tell with her newfound heightened senses, so she backed up slightly hoodie slipping down enough in the process to reveal her ears and snout.
Well this couldn't be good.

Summer pushed herself up into a semi-sitting position. She listened as he lamented over what had happened how she shouldn't have to which she only sighed softly.
She cupped his cheek with her free paw and held it there for a moment, heart breaking at his distressed chirps.
"Leo...what I did was my choice and my choice alone. It's not your fault what happened. We're gonna get hurt in the future and that's just inevitable. But it isn't your fault as a leader. I did what I did because...I couldn't just loose you...again..'" Summer's voice cracked with emotion at the last part. "Never again," she whispered more to herself than anything.
Hearing his voice on the radio as he told his big brother it was his turn for a heroic move as he was sacrificing himself to the Kraang to save earth. The cries from Mikey and April. She never wanted to experience it ever again.
"I promise I'll try to be less reckless in the future but I can't promise I won't protect you like that again." The older said softly. "Big sisters have to look after their little brothers right?" She asked a playful sort've lilt to her voice smiling. And really in all the ways that mattered he really was her younger brother, they all had for a long time now.
Pain.
It was the first thing Summer registered as the explosion sounded off behind her. The next thing was the feeling of singed fur and a then more pain, but sharper and it stung...badly. Probably an injury that would scar or bruise later she reflected idly.
Through the loud ringing in her ears she vaguely heard Leo shouting something, nothing more than a green and blue blur above her and she relaxed. Leo was safe, and that was all that mattered.
Her tail weakly thumped against the ground a few times as she lifted a shaky paw to place over his hand as almost a form of comfort; wanting to reassure him despite the state she was now in. @mutation-station
Shit, nonononono--SUMMER!
[They'd been fighting...well. He couldn't remember now, so all-encompassing was his panic as he practically flew to the mutated wolf's side. All he knew was that an explosive had been deployed, too quickly and too close for him to possibly deploy a get-away portal in time, and his friend had heroically, stupidly, jumped right in front of it for him to take the brunt of the explosion. No thought of Donnie deploying counter-measures, or Raph swooping in to save the day with his energy projections, no, he'd frozen up and then she'd had to--
She--
She was placing her paw over his hand, and Leo suddenly had to blink back the hot sting of tears from his vision. A vocalization that was somewhere between an agonized sob and a distressed chirp escaped his mouth in that moment as he used his free hand to cover it a second later, glancing away from her to take stock of the situation. Those wounds didn't...they didn't look good, that much was for certain. She was burned to hell and back, and there were various bits of shrapnel poking out of her that he was determined to not glance at for longer than he needed to, and Leo didn't even know if the fight was still on at this point, but they needed to--
God damn it, why had Summer chosen now to be self-sacrificing? It felt like...like it was all his fault, for being in the line of fire in the first place. It felt like someone was ripping his heart out and then stomping on it. His friend was lying at his feet, bloodied and singed and altogether looking like absolute shit, and he felt so incredibly helpless in that moment, eyes welling up with tears more and more as he tried to rein his fucking useless brain back in and formulate some kind of plan. He felt like the floor had suddenly been dropped out from under him. Like he was spinning around in an abyss, with no earthly way to tell which direction was up.
Was this how his brothers had felt, when he'd portaled himself into another dimension to try and keep an inter-dimensional enemy from wreaking havoc on their world? When he had left himself completely at the mercy of an enemy that had taken all four of them to even make a dent in? When they'd been faced with the knowledge that for once, Leo might not come back from one of his stupid stunts?
If this was even a fraction of how they'd felt when he got hurt, Leo was never going to pull another self-sacrificing move ever again.]
Shit shit shit. Summer, Summer, hey, keep looking at me, okay? You're gonna be fine. You're gonna be just fine. We're gonna get you to the med bay and patch you up and you'll be--
[A sound behind him made him whirl for a moment, a feral snarl peeling his lips back over his teeth as his hands automatically went to his swords--but it was just his brothers, just his family coming to see why the fight had abruptly stopped, and Leo couldn't even bring himself to feel embarrassed over how cracked and broken his voice came out in that moment as he finally brought himself to issue orders.]
She's hurt bad, guys. We need to get her to the med bay, like, yesterday. We're leaving those guys alone for now. No, Donnie, I actually could give less of a shit about where they got off to at this point. Let's focus on the friend who is literally bleeding out as we speak.
[His voice was sharp, but it was only to convey the urgency of the situation. He'd apologize for any ruffled feathers later. Right now, they needed to move. Moving his swords to slash open a portal to the sickbay almost without consciously thinking about it, Leo directed his gaze towards Donnie and Mikey first.]
Go ahead of us, get the sick bay ready. I labeled where everything is, you shouldn't--yeah, if you need anything, ask Dad. He's the one who taught--yeah, yeah, the usual stuff, just go!
Raph, you think you can carry her, I don't think I trust myself to...right. Check her over for injuries. Uh, she was still moving her limbs and such, far as I can see. That...probably rules out a spinal injury. And we don't have any medical things...with us, and a hospital won't take her, so we basically have to move her anyway. Right, okay. Summer? Summer, hey.
[He leaned down to grasp at one of her paws then, expression open and almost pleading with her.]
Stay with us, okay? Raph's gonna have to lift you. I'm gonna apologize in advance, it's probably gonna hurt like hell, but we need to get you to the sickbay. Okay, easy, easy. On three. One....three!
[Checking to make sure that Raph had hoisted Summer as gently and safely as possible, Leo ushered them through the portal, closing it behind them with an audible pop and a whiff of ozone before he ran ahead.]
Got the bed ready, you guys? Okay, yeah, set her down, we'll work from there--

Summer sat next to him, his physical and emotional exhaustion clearly shown in his demeanor, the strained smile he shot her way. She prided herself on getting better at reading the turtles after all.
For a moment she wasn't quite sure how to approach the subject. On one hand she wanted to reach out and comfort but on the other didn't want to push him too much. It was a balancing act she was used to doing with her Leo back home. (She would ignore how much her chest ached being reminded of that).
The older mutant sighed softly letting the silence between them build before she finally, out of concern or her own stubbornness to not back down at the last minute. Maybe it was a mix of both.
"So..." she began slowly. "You wanna talk about what happened today?" Maybe not the best way to approach it but Summer wasn't one to dodge around; Leo knew that by now.
The air in the past few days? Weeks? (Space time was something Summer was still getting used to) had been...tense. And even without her canine trait of sensing basic emotions she could tell. They had been going from planet to planet racing against the Triceratons to nab the last piece of the portal; a lot was at stake.
But then....Leo had pulled an insanely reckless stunt which afterward lead to to a huge blow up between Raph and the latter.
He was stressed and under a lot of pressure, she could sympathize but clearly no one else after wanted to touch to subject of what he tried with a 10 foot pole.
So when she found herself awake when the rest were asleep and wandered out to the bridge and spotted the sillouhette of a familiar blue-banded turtle gazing out by the window, Summer found the perfect opportunity.
"Room for one more?" She asked with a small smile. @mutation-station
Leonardo was far from any semblance of the word fine. The telltale signs of conspicuous bags under his eyes which thankfully hide beneath his mask, his swift retreat to the room of holograms to talk to a spectre of his father made of projected light and pixels. It helped him… focus, stoke the fickle fire of his resolve to keep pushing forward with the mission.
He bears the brunt of the responsibility on his shoulders as any leader would. The weight of the world counting on him. Splinter's life, his brothers... he was fighting for that exact reason.
But that didn’t mean he didn’t feel hopeless or scared.
In fact, he felt it every day.
His gaze fixates on the countless stars near and far, dotted throughout the expanse of endless space. He wondered if one of them were home. If Master Splinter was okay, none the wiser about what they were doing.
Leo releases the sigh that's been stuck in his throat for a while, and with it escapes some of the tension in his shoulders as he turns to Summer with a strained smile.
"Oh, hey! Yeah, sure, go for it." He encourages with an awkward chuckle.

( you know that dynamic of the emotionally closed off one & the kind one they have a soft spot for? yeah, that’s the vibe. )
said from the lone wolf.
❛ you think you know me, but the truth is, you don’t. ❜
❛ going home isn’t an option anymore. ❜
❛ i’m fine. there’s nothing for you to worry about. ❜
❛ do you wish i was different? ❜
❛ i just, i don’t want anything bad to happen to you. ❜
❛ you deserve better than what you’ve got. ❜
❛ i guess we both lost something we were fond of. ❜
❛ i’m not leaving you out here alone. ❜
❛ you don’t have to keep me company, i’m fine by myself. ❜
❛ coming here to see you is the only place i could go. ❜
❛ i’m afraid of losing you, okay? ❜
❛ i know you probably hate me right now, and i get it. ❜
❛ what is with your weird fascination with me? ❜
❛ yeah, you keep on telling yourself that bullshit. ❜
❛ i didn’t mean to hurt your feelings, i just have a lot on my plate. ❜
❛ you’re lucky you got away with only a scratch. ❜
❛ if i could be a different person, i promise you, i would be. ❜
❛ people like us don’t get to decide when we’re done. ❜
❛ i’ve never had anything good happen to me when i trusted others. ❜
❛ you won’t survive out there. they tear all good things apart. ❜
❛ i don’t know what’s the truth or what’s a lie anymore. ❜
❛ you got guts, i’ll give you that. ❜
❛ the more you know, the shorter your life will be. ❜
❛ for the first time in years, i felt something that i thought had been lost to me. ❜
❛ what you think you’re going through is nothing to what i have been through. ❜
said from the soft spot.
❛ you’re not as bad as everyone says you are. ❜
❛ how is it that you’re never scared? ❜
❛ you think i’m weak because i’m not like you. ❜
❛ you wanted to be left alone, right? ❜
❛ how do you make the pain go away? ❜
❛ you shouldn’t smoke, you know. ❜
❛ destroy what is destroying you. ❜
❛ i hope you find the peace you’re searching for. ❜
❛ you know my door is always open to you. ❜
❛ i look at you and my heart breaks because all i see is loneliness. ❜
❛ you’re avoiding the subject and you know it. what are you hiding from me? ❜
❛ you’re not at war anymore, you can come home. ❜
❛ it feels like you’ve been avoiding me. ❜
❛ what are you so afraid of? ❜
❛ you shouldn’t be out here by yourself. ❜
❛ why do you care? you could have just walked away. ❜
❛ i know you. how else do you think i found you so easily? ❜
❛ if it was the other way around, would you have come back for me? ❜
❛ i just thought you’d like some company. ❜
❛ are you jealous? want me all to yourself, do you? ❜
❛ i knew you had a heart. ❜
❛ can you look at me? please? ❜
❛ i don’t think i’ve ever seen you smile. ❜
❛ if you won’t take care of yourself, then who will? ❜
❛ you have something beautiful inside of you. it’s hard for some people to tell, but it’s there. ❜

Her ears flicked at his distressed chirp, mustering all her strength to stay awake, the last thing she needed was Leo blaming himself. (But she knew he would anyways and that thought would make her heart ache painfully later)
As soon as the other three arrived Summer began to float in and out of consciousness only vaguely aware of her surroundings, was that Raph carrying her? She wasn't sure.
Being set down was what jolted her back to the present, aggravating her pained side, a mixture of a snarl and whimper instinctively slipping past her snout.
Thankfully something pricked her side and she was out like a light, avoiding the painful process that would most likely follow. --- The feeling of someone watching made Summer blearily open her eyes the lights of the sick-bay the first thing she noticed. The second was the bandages that now covered a majority of her arm and torso. Not sure how long she was out she glanced to her left and smiled softly seeing Leo, physically at least safe and sound. Emotionally she wasn't sure how he'd be yet but she could focus on that now that she was awake. Ignoring her sore and aching body she moved her non-injured arm, once again taking his hand in her paw and giving it a light squeeze. "Hey Leo," she greeted softly, her voice affectionate and caring but it was clearly underlined with exhaustion from the entire ordeal as well.
Pain.
It was the first thing Summer registered as the explosion sounded off behind her. The next thing was the feeling of singed fur and a then more pain, but sharper and it stung...badly. Probably an injury that would scar or bruise later she reflected idly.

Summer raised a skeptical brow ignoring his clear diversion. Normally she might humor him but this time she wouldn’t given the circumstances. She sighed softly crossing her arms trying to think of a way to either catch it or make him at least admit it.
“How about this. If I take your temperature and it comes back normal I’ll take your word for it, but if it’s not…” She offered, but it was more of an opportunity for him to come clean before the thermometer confirmed it about being sick.

Summers eyes widened at the name, everything clicking into place at once.
Oh.
It made sense now.
"So you're one of the brothers she's always talking about," she said after a beat still surprised before a grin crossed her face. No wonder she didn't say much else about them considering their existence probably had to be a secret. But she had learned enough about them through the bits and pieces her friend had told her.
"I always thought it weird I never was able to meet you guys, guess it makes sense now," she said with a small laugh, as she bent over to grab the spare key under the mat.
"To answer your questions, the Lou Jitsu ones are a lil too cheesy for me, I've only seen the Jupiter Jim movies April's shown me, and I...I haven't been to school physically in awhile actually...I ended up switching to online classes after this whole thing." Summer says gesturing to herself. "I met April while I was still human, I wasn't always a mutant y'know." And with that she opens the door to the apartment, glancing back to see if he follows her inside.

"I know, Mikey left me a note in the kitchen," she reassured quickly enough smiling. "Though I guess I was surprised to see you here, never thought you'd turn down a patrol," Summer teased gently, though there was clear concern in her eyes.
"You sure you're feeling alright?" It wasn't as much a question as a confirmation, her enhanced sense of smell had never been wrong up until this point, and this was no different.
If he was sick, or starting to be at least she'd hope that'd he let her help take care of him as he did her and the rest of his brothers.
Summer slipped down the lair, the quietness of it immediately putting her on alert ears flicking back and forth listening for any signs of the turtles.

Summer relaxed as he didn’t outright go on the attack, but seemed still a bit relatively worried at his suspicion. In all fairness it was granted when she looked like….this.
“I’m here to see April, she lives right here. We were planning to go over a group project together for school due in a couple weeks. I guess I wasn't expecting anyone else to show up. Though knowing her she accidentally forgot and planned something else. Or did plan two things at once purposely to get us to meet.” the mutant said with a laugh, a small smile blooming on her face. Her tail was wagging slowly behind her, a sign at least showing she didn’t have any bad intentions and was friendly enough.
“The names Summer,” she added, sticking out a paw in greeting, figuring now would be a good enough time for introductions.
Now closer to the turtle Summer noticed the sword on his back and her eyes widened slightly but didn’t bring much attention to it. If April was friends with weapon-wielding turtle mutants and trusted them then Summer could do the same.
Her phone suddenly pinged, quickly reading a text from April, apologetic that she planned two things at once but she reassured that they would probably get along.
