You are missed in the Jonerys fandom...any news about For the Cameras? Hope you're well! xx
sorry for being MIA. truthfully i have not been in the headspace to do any writing for a while now. i guess you could call it writer's block. but i think maybe, hopefully, i'm starting to become interested in writing again.
that said, for FTC, it's tricky when it's a two-author WIP. my part of the next chapter is more or less done and has been for a while, but Alice has done maybe 1/2-3/5 of Dany's POV? for a number of reasons she hasn't been able to write either, and honestly same. but we're both wanting to continue FTC and it's not abandoned. so i suppose just send a lot of writing mojo our way and hopefully something will shake out over the next month (or so...)
sorry i don't have anything more concrete to offer atm. but i think there's a glimmer of possibility on the horizon, at least. thanks for checking in!
#reply#ftc#tbh i've been too scared to even check ao3 for like a year now#i've got a slow work week tho so i'm going to try to make myself do a small writing exercise for ftc#a little warmup if you will#it's been so long since i've written for recreation#i'm rusty af

“The reason for Biden not to do this was to allow his son to remain collateral damage of the GOP war against his presidency and to leave him in the hands of the Trump DOJ for at least the next four years all to make a point of principle about being better, different, more righteous, more norm-honoring than Donald Trump. Truly. No one gives a fuck. If anything, that logic I just laid out sounds like one of those fastidious, hyper-process-oriented and baroque bits of reasoning that have of late left Democrats mesmerized while the real world is passing them by.”
—
The Pardon
I fully support this pardon, and I encourage President Biden to go to TOWN on using his SCOTUS-approved unchecked powers of the presidency to pardon and protect and Trump-proof everyone and every institution he can before the fascists take over.
Do more, Joe. Really push the limits, because norms and traditions haven’t meant anything to anyone who isn’t an elected Democrat since 2016, and they will cease to exist in a little over a month.
#fuck it#take a dump on the Oval Office on your way out while you’re at it#fuck everyone and their bootlicking pearlclutching faux outrage#they don’t have the stomach for how much worse it’s going to get

Hi. Sigh… I’m gonna be puzzled why it seemed we were doing so well and that orange freak still won… well I was severely depressed and during that I was hating America. But… I guess we just survive another four years with that creep and then be rid of him forever. Besides… not like he’s got too much time left anyway. But I wanted to ask you… do you think these next four years will be a miserable living hell? Or maybe… we won’t feel much and our worst fears were just him talking shit that he either can’t or won’t actually do?
PS: I saw that apparently 15 million less Democrats voted. If it was over Gaza… they’re idiots.
the 15 million less Democrats voted thing is misinformation. votes are still being counted, especially on the west coast. when every vote is counted, my understanding is that it will shake out to a total of about 156 million votes cast, only about 2 million less than the 2020 election. unfortunately, Kamala Harris will likely end up receiving 5-6 million fewer votes than Biden. that will probably mean she loses the popular vote to Trump by anywhere between 1-3 million votes. will that be a result of apathy? voter suppression? covid deaths? racism? hard to know for sure. but what i do know is that it will not be a result of anyone's singular pet issue. the top issue(s) people have given are the economy and immigration, but i think a lot of people have been mainlining a steady stream of misinformation, propaganda, and just blatant bullshit thanks to social media and rightwing podcasts/media ecosystems, that it has made too many of them, frankly, dumb as hell.
what i personally have a hard time understanding is how this man won all 7 battleground states, while Democrat Senators/governors won in those same states (except Pennsylvania, maybe...that could change if enough votes are cured). in fact, Trump received more votes than Republicans down ballot in some of these races. now, i can buy that MAGA is a cult so the enthusiasm and devotion are baked in. but he couldn't even fill his rallies at the end anymore. so these supporters weren't showing up to his rallies anymore, but they were eager enough to vote for him in record numbers, yet didn't care enough to vote for anyone else, not even for Republican Senators to ensure his agenda they supposedly support can get enacted? it really defies all sorts of logic, honestly. as does the fact that apparently Gen Z (GEN Z who's been screaming about genocide for a year now but apparently doesn't care that this man has given Bibi the greenlight to "finish the job" but i digress...) took a HARD FUCKING TURN RIGHT for this man. and Latino men, too, despite the promise of mass deportations on Day 1.
it's a lot of hard pills to swallow, the biggest one being that no matter what a lot of Americans will publicly claim, they are still not privately ready to pull the lever for a (black) woman president.
unfortunately, i do think it will be as bad as Democrats have been warning. there are no guardrails in place anymore. there are no moderate Republicans to keep him in check, no DOJ that can touch him, and a 6-3 SCOTUS who has granted him absolute immunity and are more than happy to help him enact his extreme christofascist agenda.
i saw this reel from a journalist who has been covering republicans and MAGA for a while and who was at the RNC this summer. based on what he witnessed there, he created a spreadsheet of Project 2025 policies that he feels are extremely likely to pass, things that could pass but might meet some resistance, and things that would pass in the worst case scenario. i recommend reading it just to prepare yourselves.
during Biden's presidency i was a pretty hopeful and optimistic person. right now i am not feeling that way. it's very hard to find any sort of silver lining, truthfully. my best advice is to understand what is very likely coming down the pipeline and focus on what you can do protect your family and loved ones. work on making your local community a better, freer place. and vote as often and for as long as you can.
#some might accuse me of fearmongering#but the problem is that not enough of you took this threat seriously enough#now we're all going to find out#i mean yeah i hope this man drops dead sooner rather than later#but jd vance/elon musk/peter thiel being his successor is a cold comfort

Thoughts on the exit polls…screenshots taken from NBC’s exit poll.

Men really, really do not want to vote for a woman. I’ve seen this viewpoint branded as TERF rhetoric so lemme just say in advance that I’m non-binary. It is not TERF rhetoric to blame sexism for this loss, and I think we need to confront the ways in which, yes, sexism runs deep with U.S. men and we need MORE feminism, not less.

Trump did make some inroads among Black voters: 92% went for Biden in 2020. Way more Latino voters shifted, though: 66% voted for Biden in 2020. Asian voters also dropped from 63% in 2020. What on earth could account for the —

Support among white men dropped from 48% for Biden to 39% for Harris. Support among Black men ticked down very slightly but not much. The biggest change: Latino men went from supporting Biden by 59% in 2020 to 44% in 2024.

The bottom line: yes, it was the men. Men across multiple races and ages supported Harris less than Biden, and we need to be clear-eyed about that. Unfortunately in the short term I think that means, Absolutely do not run a female Democratic candidate in 2028. Because we can’t even talk about this issue without someone taking exception and wailing “NOT ALL MEN!!”
#votes are still being counted#so i think post mortems are still a bit premature tbh#but i've seen some takes already that jews shifted right bc of leftist rhetoric over israel/gaza#i have not seen that to be the case so far#so i do not want to see anyone blaming the jews for any of this#fuck off#everyone else needs to look inward first and do some housecleaning#(except black women ofc)#but also idk racial polarization at this point is just...irrelevant#what does any of it matter#everyone saw what donald trump was#everything he spewed and none of it mattered#it was all vibes#everyone who voted bought what he was selling#so there's just no real answer anymore idk

gen z has to reckon with its radicalization problem. you are not a morally pure and superior generation of youth come to save the world, your men and boys are radicalized at an unprecedented level and you ignore it because it’s too hard to address but you have to. these boys are in your classes, they date your friends, you know them and you cannot continue to pretend this is an “old white guy” problem

Fuck George Clooney.
my contempt is largely for the voters--and the dumbass voters who apparently decided not to show up--but i will definitely remember the people who helped contribute to this moment. my memory is long and i can hold a grudge.
#reply#i still haven't forgiven the bernie bros for 2016#or bernie for that matter#tbh his movement is a large reason why we're here too#so fuck that old fuck too

things we need to address:
gen z men getting pulled into alt-right pipelines through andrew tate, joe rogan, elon musk, jordan peterson etc
the gullibility and stupidity of half the country voting against our collective best interests
the broad effect social media has on public and common good
lazy minds and lack of empathy
outside-country interference (trump and elon’s connections to russia and the amount of bots from other countries spreading misinformation)
the long-term effects of AI and rampant disinformation
#we are in a dark place#and heading for an even darker place#i have been a generally hopefully and optimistic person over the last four years#because joe biden did that for us#helped restore some decency#but...i think that's really truly dead and gone now#the soul of america is dead

"voting makes you complicit in US war crimes"
that's not how anything works. if you live in the US, if you pay taxes, if you are using a cell phone, if you drive or ride in a car, if you own anything with a rechargeable battery, you're technically complicit in war crimes.
not voting for Harris is, in effect, a vote for Trump. (mathematically you could argue it's half a vote for Trump but that's still voting for Trump)
I heard a National Parks employee a couple weeks ago say he wasn't sure the National Park Service could survive another Trump presidency. Federal agencies across the government are racing to get money out the door before January - EPA climate justice grants. USDA grants to Black and Indigenous farmers. immigration courts are racing to process as many citizenship applications as possible before January.
They're doing this because they know what will happen if Trump is elected again. We all know. Because we've done this before. There's no "he's just saying stuff he won't actually DO anything" this time around.
Not voting does not keep your hands clean. Not voting is not a principled stand for anything. If you have the ability to vote and choose not to, you have if anything increased the amount of blood on your hands.
#not voting is a choice#it says 'whatever everyone else chooses is ok with me'#and in a two party system a protest vote is essentially the same as a non-vote

Hi! I've followed you for a long time (since back in the everlark days!) and I think I recall you live in NC? If so, hoping you and your family are ok after Helene.
yes thank you for checking in anon, thankfully where i live we were not hit hard by Helene, but the western communities were absolutely devastated. as someone who just recently visited the Asheville/mountains/Tennessee region, it's just shocking to see.

Hello, I'm the one who asked about YCNBM. I had a nap and I'm not emo anymore haha please don't publish the other ask, there are more pressing things in the world to think about afterall than fandom drama. Love your work, cant wait to read more from you
lol thank you anon! the response (backlash) to YCNBM was certainly something. taught me something about the ASOIAF fandom at large, that's for sure😂
