This is something I wrote back when there was only vanilla P5 and that human version of Mona wasn't a thing. It's also the very first fic I wrote so it can have some errors, I originally shared it with some friends but I kind of wanted to post it here for others to also read it.

That being said.

Ramen Talk

A Ryuji and Child!Mona fic

Content: entirely platonic interpretation, no ships here.

She laughs and hugs the little kid back.

"I love you lady Ann!" the kid says with a happy tone of voice.

Ann laughs, "I love you too Morgana! You are like a cute little brother."

"Yo, what's up with Mona? He looks terrible." Ryuji asks to Ren who's cleaning the counter at the cafe.

"Oh, he's been feeling down after Ann told him she likes him as a little brother."

"Ha! Oh, so you aren't as charming as you thought you were, huh Morgana?" He lets out a boisterous laugh mocking the kid who would normally just make him shut up and insult back.

But, not this time.

Morgana looks down and then to the side, he doesn't want to talk he feels too sad to even answered to the guy he considers a brute monkey.

Ryuji falls silent and gets up from his seat.

"Yo, Mona. Let's grab something to eat." Ryuji walks up to the kid and practically drags him out despite his protests.

"Hey, what?! Where are you taking me you moron!"

At the ramen shop the two youths sit side by side.

Ryuji is gorging down his bowl of ramen, while Morgana just looks at his.

"Aren't you going to eat? C'mon eat up before it gets soggy!"

"Why are you doing this?"

"What? Can't I treat a friend to a meal?"

"We don't even get along!"

Ryuji paused and saw Mona, the kid looks angry, confused even. Morgana was heartbroken and the guy he constantly mocks is suddenly inviting him to eat something? This must be some sort of joke.

"You're right we don't get along, we bicker and fight all the time. But, we're still in the same team ya know? We have to watch each other's backs."

"..."

"And, besides it's more than clear that you aren't having a good time."

"Of course I'm not!" Mona finally burst out, tears falling from his eyes. "Lady Ann doesn't like me because I'm just a stupid kid! What should I do for her to like me back the way I like her?"

"Yep, you're right. You are just a kid, but there's nothing you can do to make her like you that way. Look, I know you are heartbroken but you are too young and inexperienced for this, No wonder Ann thinks of you as a little brother. I don't think I'm experienced enough to be the one saying this. I know some people say that age is just a number and all, but one thing is the age gap between a kid and a teen and another an age gap between two more experienced adults. This isn't something you can't change but you will get out of it, slowly, but you'll be okay. In the meantime just cry and eat before your food gets cold, alright Mona?"

The kid looks at the older teen in silence.

Even if it hurts right now everything will be better?

He turns to look at his bowl of ramen, the noodles glistening in the hot broth.

He takes his chopsticks and picks up the noodles, slowly but surely taking a bite out of them trying to taste it first before finally eating with all his might, light coming back to his face as he enjoys his meal.

Sure, Ryuji might not be the brightest of all the thieves, but he wasn't all that bad. In the end Morgana knew that if anything bad would happen Ryuji would always try to cheer them up in his own way.

Mona smiles for a moment, because he knows that he has people he can trust on and they will care about him as much as he cares about them.
