What’s in a Name: Other Fire Nation Folks

Dock - Cause he works at the docks. (English)

Xu - Market, 墟 (Mandarin). Cause he works at the market.

Bushi - Unwell, 不适 (Mandarin). Cause… well, he’s not entirely sane.

Ran - To Ignite, 燃 (Mandarin) & Shaw - To Roast, 燒 (Mandarin). I included these together because when the characters are combined, you get combustion, 燃燒. Maybe Combustion Man had a run-in with Ran & Shaw at some point?

Ham Ghao - Foolish Troublemaker, 憨搞 (Cantonese). Ham Gao is the Sun Warrior who wanted the dragons to eat Aang and Zuko.

Ming - Young tea leaves, 茗 (Mandarin). Ming is the kind Fire Nation guard who gave Iroh tea in prison.

Qin Lee - Left the Invasion, 侵离 (Mandarin). He’s one of the Fire Nation soldiers that Sokka dropped into the water from the war balloon.

Malu (Firebending Magician) - Carnelian Furnace, 玛炉 (Mandarin). Carnelians are reddish-orange gemstones.

Shuzumu (Circus Master) - Wife of paternal grandfather’s younger brother, 叔祖母 (Mandarin). I have no idea why they gave this random character such a specific term for a name.

Chit Sang - Triumphant life, 捷生 (Cantonese). If you believe in the importance of names, you could say he was like a lucky charm for Sokka and Zuko. Chit Sang is also a Burmese name, ချစ်ဆန်း.

It’s funny how Eda is like “I’m not maternal” and then thinks her kids are leaving so she goes on a suicide mission and they only stop because Raine realizes that Eda is being self-destructive and has a family who needs her?? She calls her adoptive eight year old son her roommate for a long time because she feels uncomfortable with the concept of people needing her??? She doesn’t talk to her dad for decades bc of this. She doesn’t think she’s a good person but whenever push comes to shove Eda is an adult that the kids can rely on, she’s jokey but when she has to be serious she’s fucking serious.

Raine broke up with Eda because she was uncomfortable with intimacy/ sharing her life with Raine which made their relationship one sided and Eda kept driving herself into self destructive behavior. Eda says stuff like “I’m a bad person and everyone should leave me because I’m gonna hurt them” and then she is repeatedly a good person who is pretty reliable and well-liked by her friends, she just pretends that’s not true like Perry feels comfortable letting Gus stay at Eda’s place even tho Eda is a wanted criminal, Darius felt that Eda should be involved in the rebellion, the Bat Queen trusted Eda to babysit her… kids??, like PEOPLE LIKE YOU EDA ??

You ever have one sim whom everything happens to? Ever since I bought Lovestruck a couple of days ago, one of my seven sins bachelorette contestants, Octavius, has become THE Lovestruck sim.
