Here is what North Koreans are doing to keep cool during the hot weather. Solar panels have been growing in popularity there the last few years, and that seems to be making a huge difference in all sorts of ways.

I was hoping to get to make a vine puppet for my Poison Ivy costume, but unfortunately I haven't had the time to try working on it at all since last Halloween, so I gave up on that. But I came across a tiny crossbow and figured that might be doable.
The one in this video looks super easy, and doable with stuff I already have on hand. I will maybe try to make it with stylized laser cut pieces, rather than coffee stirrers - that should be pretty cheap & take way less time.
Definitely not making arrows with metal darts, though. I might see if I can make some stylized soft darts.

Fan Artist Alert: Stolen designs on Wish
Wish.com offers many inexpensive goods, so naturally I went there to see if they had much Poison Ivy merch. I saw several cool designs, and considered buying a $6 tank top with a simple stylozed headshot in 40s pin-uo style. Something seemed amiss, thought, and after receiving advice to do a reverse image search, I discovered the art belongs to Tim Schumate, and he sells his designs on print on demand sites for at least $25 each. That plus reviews that the quality of the shirts was poor is evidence enough it was stolen.
If you make fan art, it is a good idea to check Wish out to see if anyone has stolen your work.
If you want to buy cool fan merch, take a screencap and do a reverse google image search first to make sure the item does not contain stolen content.
Wish has no way to report items for sale, but says they will take items down that sellers have no right to sell. The only way to message them that I could see is to contact about something you received that was bad.
Here is a link to a print of Tim Shumate's design. It's a headshot.

Quote
This story is not new. Black queer, transgender, and gender nonconforming  people in America are bearers of narratives of struggle and triumph despite the ways intimates and  strangers have attempted to force us to  silence our sexual desires.  Our stories, like our lives, are complex, bountiful, profound, disappointing, hopeful, varied, and often disregarded. We have always been here. Black queer, transgender, and gender nonconforming people loved and fucked on some racist master’s plantation. We wrote theories debunking white racial supremacist ideology. We, too, were architects of Black liberation, women’s justice, antiwar movements, and the Black liberation, women’s justice, antiwar movements, and the Black arts. We are the unnamed black sisters, brothers, and nonbinary people who lived queer theory before it was popular among those in white academe.

Mermaid Musings
Imagine a city where merfolk and humans have come together and built a society together, constantly finding new ways to accomodate each other.
First it was comfortable beach side meeting places. Diving devices that allow humans to live down a ways in the water while still getting all their needs met.
Now it’s merfolk riding in Segway style tanks of water. The enormously costly and complicated process of designing living, working, and learning spaces where both merfolk and humans can be successful and happy.
Somewhere, a little mer-child has an aviary that hold some birds and a squirrel. The child can’t take them out and play with them like they could with family pets that naturally live in the water, but they are fun to watch and to feed.
A human friend hands a merperson an expensive phone that isn’t waterproof or in a waterproof case. It drops into the water. Neither has the money to replace it.
A new couple is finding it hard to cope with finding a restaurant they both like that can accomodate both of them. The human walks on the sidewalk, while the merperson swims through a glass pathway right alongside. They can get to lots of places in the city together, but there are still plenty of places where it is impractical or impossible to keep water and land paths connected, so extra planning, expense, and hassle are often involed in going places.
An adopted human’s parents move to a city with barely any human population. Finding schooling, enrichment activities is difficult.
Merfolk have many of their own things, like space programs, with different ideas of what’s important than humans. They also near universlly support the personhood of cetaceans, and have the only living dolphin astonaut in existence.
