People are so much more sad, and desparate, and lonely than you think. I have had three incidents in the last four months were a technician I was working with was being either dangerously unfocused (we work with high voltage), or just flat out angry with their coworkers, and every time when I just pulled them aside to say hey, this isn't you, you're nice, and you're competent, so something must be up - what can I do to help - they have responded by bursting into tears. One guy was struggling to get his wife moved into a care home, one guy just got served divorce papers, and the other hadn't slept a wink the night before because his daughter had the pukes.

I haven't spent my whole life responding to people being rude, or stupid, or dangerous with knee jerk compassion. It's a new habit. The first time I did that as the lead for my lab, it was because the guy genuinely was so good natured that I knew something had to be off. But the other two times were just me going, alright, lets see if it always goes this well, and so far, it has. I'm almost 30, and I just figured out that the #1 reason people are shitty are because they are going through shit.

I don't think you have, like, a moral obligation to respond to people being jerks with knee jerk compassion. But it has made my life so much easier the last four months that I would recommend trying. For your own sake. Please.

Miles would 100% need to be the one who makes a move first bc i feel like that would be the ultimate show of his character development! Showing his attunement to his emotions, Overcoming his fears of perfection and failure, being the one who BRINGS THE TURNABOUT ON PHOENIX why would you take this from him.

Also i also feel like this would aid in phoenix’s development, where his development on love from Dahlia and love for his friends and family being brought to a climax where someone finally chased him in the same way he’s done for others and its someone he’s admired from the beginning?

again its most likely gonna be edgeworth assuming they are already in a relationship and phoenix’s weird dance with being honest about his emotions until one day they are just like “Wait hang on. yeah that makes sense”

So about the roles swap au , what the relationship between prosecutor phoenix and detective gumshoe is like ? Does phoenix also cut off his pay all the time or not ?

He doesn't cut his salary (at least not as much), but Prosecutor Phoenix somehow manages to be both scarier AND nicer than canon Edgeworth to Gumshoe :)

Gumshoe is the closest thing Phoenix has to a best friend for the five years of his career. Gummy knows him better than Larry does these days, and he is also the first person to figure out that Phoenix's flirting with Miles is genuine to say the least.

He uses this information to keep a better track of Phoenix's "moods"TM: Has Phoenix talked about/met Edgeworth today? Yes? Then he's gotta be in a good mood by default, and a good mood means more decent/genuine conversation (and also a considerably lower chance for a salary reduction, regardless of the severity of the mistake, so it's the optimal time to confess to having made one)

The coat is very fluff and warm btw, and Gumshoe will never find out just how much money Phoenix spent on it on a whim because no matter how hard he tries to deny it to himself, he cares about his friend :)

How could I forget that time back in 2023 that I entered a Minecraft SMP as a catboy Phoenix (and also convinced my friend — now boyfriend — to join as Miles as well 🥀)

Can't explain the lore properly but Phoenix lost his memory (YEAH AGAIN) and wound up in this weird village with other people who turned out to also not remember how they got there, and after some time Edgeworth showed up there and he was hesitant to talk to him because he found him familiar but didn't know how (as in, if they were enemies or smth). Miles didn't know exactly how he got there either but he remembered much more than him, he remembered Phoenix and that he got there because he was looking for hum.

The story was never concluded buuuttt they were about to get married (super rushed 'cause people were dying and they needed to be happy for a while a little 💔 they'd have an official wedding once things were solved, if they were.

Uhhh basically drew this scar 'cause when I (he) was stalking Miles to make sure he wasn't dangerous I was struck by lightning and everyone lost their shit. So now he has a scar from that lmao
