Do you think Snape was born to be single for life or is he just ace and doesn't know it yet? (Just joking- what do you think about the ships about him?)

Terribly late to answering this but I wanted to give it my focus & think over it.

I don’t think of him as ace, maybe demi but I don’t think he’s mentally in a place to identify or recognize that imo. I don’t think he was born to be single, but consequences of his own actions led him to self-isolation from any meaningful relationship (incl friendship).

Obviously his upbringing paved the way to his circumstances. Like… abused, repressed and insecure child looked for validation in the wrong places and lashed out cruelly when he fumbled his only cherised relationship.

He’s a big old mess of grief, resentments and guilt. Rightfully so.

I���m not really interested in ships involving him but I can see how compelling it would be to see a deeply repressed & traumatized person soften with love and affection, learn to let himself feel and accept intimacy.

So, I get it but it’s not my thing I guess.

drarry thought: super ironic and funny thing Draco who's name means dragon had to be saved from fire in a room of hoarded lost treasures by Harry Potter. The hero/knight had to save the dragon.
