If don’t want to watch the prequels, don’t worry! This new season counts if a recap. The original plot tells the story of a website who is only available at midnight, and allows anyone send people to hell by typing their name there, but it has a cost, the Hell Girl comes to decide if your wish will come true or not; and also take the wisher’s souls to a afterlife in hell.

Review: 91 Days
Name: 91 Days
Original Name: 91 Days
Type: Anime
Score: 8.0
Aired: Summer 2016
Episodes: 12
Season: 1
Genres: Action; Historical; Mafia
I was quite surprised ‘91 days’ isn’t an adaptation from a manga, because I don’t usually watch original animes. Maybe that’s why the narrative it’s so complete and round?! I don’t know, I just know it’s marvelous.
As you may know the anime tells the history of Angelo Lagusa, a boy whose family has some involvement with the mafia during Prohibition Era, at a fictional town of Lawless; one night, the Lagusa family is murdered by the Vanitti family due to a dispute, and Angelo is the only one who escapes. Years later, under the name of Avilio Bruno, he comeback and seeks revenge.
With few slips Angelo manages to carry on his plan during the episodes, but slowly get more and more involve with the Vanetti family, and the people who he should kill. And here is where the narrative catches me.
We, together with Angelo/Avilio get to know how much humans, the murders of his kin could be. The most interesting moment it’s when Nero tells Avilio about the night of the murder of Lagusa family, without really know who Avilio is, this scene is important, but people don’t realize it. Nero never had the courage to kill the boy trying to running away, and his father never forgave him for that. I kind of end up with the feeling that Angelo never meant to survive, and I remember of Harry Potter, the boy who lived. If Nero had shoot Angelo back then, much of the mess happening to his family until there, would be happening at all, and Vincent knew this, somehow.
Then, the grand finale. I heard some people talk about it. I also read a few forums. The lasts scenes are genius, and got people discussing if Nero really kills Angelo or not. Let me show what my point of view is. If you go back to the last scene that is shown almost from above, Nero and Angelo footprint, but there is not body. So, it could be possible, Nero didn’t kill Angelo and let him go, or he killed him and the body was taken by the waves.
But if you pay real attention, there is not body, but also there is no blood, no signs of Nero living the beach. So that scene made me think: IT DOESN’T MATTER IF ANGELO LIVED OR NOT. The whole anime was meant to show how Angelo was given one chance to live and he let revenge consuming him stand. At that point where Angelo and Nero go to the beach, Angelo didn’t have a reason to live anymore, he didn’t want to live, and he didn’t care if Nero was going to live or not, he was drowned. He had a chance to live but he decided to live like a ghost.
In the other hand, it’s showed to us a scene of Nero smile after looking to the pineapple can. So, somehow I think Nero killed Angelo, just because is what he should have done 7 years ago, like his father said. He killed Angelo, but decided to keep going on, despite losing all his family. I think he decide to live, with no regrets, no strings, unlike Angelo.
Ah! And all that happens in 91 days. If you think Angelo “lived” for only 91 days, after his family died, it’s sad.
