So I'm on my second playthrough of FFXVI, and this time I'm playing with my husband, and he's provided me with the basis for some real gems, including:

- Clive has woken up hungover in Gav's bed. More than once. Whether this is platonic or not is entirely up to your imagination.

But I have some agendas here. I definitely think the game doesn't lean into the Clive & Joshua + Dion being step siblings hard enough. Joshua and Dion canonically had a decent relationship as children and Joshua shows affection for Dion more than almost any other character in the game. That, and the fact that they were all saddled with Anabella as a mother figure should be enough to trauma bond them for life. I am writing something to this effect and hope you'll look out for it on AO3 shortly. It will feature Clive/Cid/Gav and some kind of pairing for Joshua. My user name over there is Spring_Witch and the fic will be titled "The Rosfield Boys".

Which brings me to my second part of this nonsense post (it's after midnight and I have work in the morning 😭).

I'm having trouble finding a pairing for Joshua that fits well. It's very clear that Jote adores him, but I kind of get the vibe that the feeling is most definitely not mutual, at least not in the way Jote would like it to be. He obviously cares for her immensely, but I honestly don't think it's romantic for him.

I'm wanting to do this fic as Joshua/Dion/Terence, it makes quite a bit of sense to me, but I'm worried that this pairing might tales away from my step-sibling agenda for the rest of the fic.

And then there's Shula. This might be my second playthrough, but it's the first time I've played The Rising Tide, and my gods has it made me cackle so far. When Clive gives Shula his real name and Joshua immediately starts flirting with her ("I've never had such aliases!") only for Jill to completely own him ("Oh really, Lord Margrace?") Was just absolute perfection. And then later, as they're heading towards the surge, for some of Joshua's dialogue to be "bratty little brother" coded was just *chef's kiss*. The sibling banter here is just incredible and was definitely needed.

I definitely want to include Shula in my story, but as a one-sided crush for the rather inexperienced Joshua. Shula would 1000% chew him up and spit him out!
