Lotus leaf as color interaction exercise
Painted with Sennelier Watercolors.
Put Lemon Yellow as basecolor. While it is still wet, I add Green Yellow on top. After it, I gruadully add Ultramarine Blue and Phtalo Blue to the second layer.
Whether to continue in wet in wet or wet on dry it the main topic of what I painted here. IäI experiment with wet and dry colors. Those part where the colors flow into each other, it is wet into wet. Both color have similar humidity. Where the harder line can been seen, it means there is a water gradient.

Lotus Flowers~~~~
My exercise of painting flowers using the layering technique proposed by artist Linda Dtevens Moyer. In her book ‚Light up your Watercolors Layer by Layer‘ she explained how you build up the layers to create this luminous effect.
Wonderful book, I love it: exceptionally astonishing tecnique which I can only merely execute
Used Materials
1) Arches Watercolor Paper 300lb/640g per m2.
2) Raphael Brushes 8404, 8402 Series; Da Vinci Maestro 10 and 35 Series; Windsor and Newton Watercolor Kolinsky Brush Nr 10.
3) Daniel Smith (DS) Watercolor: Bismuth Vandanate, New Gambodge, Rhodonite, Cobald Violet; Sennelier Ultramarin Blue.

I was told what is the best practice? Something I love to do.

First layer of my cherry blossoms.
Love using Sennelier watercolor: watercolor can be mixed so smoothly. Jest a drawback: I can only use Sennelier on 100%cotton watercolor paper……..
I think I will use more glazing than wet-on-wet technique in the future when I paint botanical items. Cherry painted with glazing seemed to be more delicate.
Let’s see
