Stepping into the World of 2D Effects: Exploring My Creativity with BCAFX Course Adventure
Hello everyone!
These days, I'm working on improving my skills in 2D effects, and I've started taking the BCAFX Course for that purpose. The course is designed to last for 1 year, but it might take longer for me, of course :) Because I customize the assignments to my own style and turn them into simple animation projects. For example, in the first week, I worked on Lightning and prepared a project. I hope you like it.
The second topic is Candle Flame. I've completed my first assignment for it, and I'm attaching it below.
Stepping into the world of 2D effects is an exciting and enjoyable experience. Learning new skills that I can use in my own projects through this course is truly inspiring. Adapting the assignments to my own style, expressing my creativity, and using them in my own projects is a fantastic opportunity.
I'm excited to share my progress with you during this process. As I move forward with new projects and assignments, I will provide you with more updates. I hope you'll join me on this journey and follow my progress.
If you have also ventured into the world of 2D effects or would like to share your own experiences, feel free to write to me in the comments! Your feedback is valuable to me.
Thanks,
Muhammed.

Week 10
Hello, happy new year. I hope you are well. And 2023 will be a better year for you. I'll do a little update this week. I finished the Rough animation. I'm hoping there's only 2 weeks left now.
Next week I will work on color and background. I will also clean the animation. That's all I have to say. I wish you a great year.

Week9
Yes, greetings. I hope you're fine. I was able to progress this week. He's been making improvements throughout the animation, and it looks like it'll take a few more weeks. In the initial planning, I was hoping that I would have finished the project this week, how optimistic I was hehhe.
Fortunately, I'm the customer, and I'm the one doing the work. That's why I don't have a time problem for now. This week I finished the cleaning of the slap scene and the rough version of the knee scene. When I say clean up, it would be better if I say half clean. It looks like this.
I can say that this is almost the finale. It has to be really clean the colors thought through, and it's ready.
The second scene is the main scene. I finished rough animation too. İ And its looks like this too.
What am I aiming to do next week?
First of all, I will finish the rough of the 3rd Scene and I need to pay special attention to the transition between the Scenes. Then I have to look at the full-length animation and make the necessary adjustments. Timing, scene transitions etc.
Afterwards, I will clean the 2nd and 3rd scenes as in the first scene. Let's say half clean. My goal is to see the full animation next week. I will proceed accordingly.
The process will take longer than I thought. I have to be more careful when planning future projects. Well, that's all from me. I wish you a good week. See you.

Week8
Hello. How are you?
This week has helped me understand why it's crazy for me to be struggling to be an animator. Being a 2D animator isn't healthy heheh. You can go crazy even trying to be. But there is nothing to do. I can't give up because of my ego. Isn't it wonderful? It makes me extremely angry.
It's a shitty job after all that effort... Damn it.
Well, I'm going to stop crying. This week I tried logging in frame by frame animation and things like the following came out. I hope one day I will forget my dream of being a 2d animator and get rid of this torture.

WEEK7
Yes, greetings from seventh week hehe. I'm back with a Saturday update. I hope you're good. This week I have completed one of the milestones of my project. The first animatic is finished. In fact, it can be said that I have combined animatic and finished frames here. Actually, the animatic can be expected to be more rough.
But I wanted to see how my characters would look in grayscale. And I thought it would be an exercise in one of my weakest points, shadow and values.
Next week I will start animation work. Of course, it will be in a primitive state. My main goal is to keep the timings. I'll test if the animation works with rough drawings. I also need to get used to TV Paint. I want my characters to have flow in their movements by simplifying them. I can say that we are halfway through the project. I think I'm going a little slow, but it's okay.
Yes folks. I wish you a good week. See you next week. Love.

WEEK5
Greetings from a beautiful Sunday. I hope you're good. I was able to work better this week than last week. I was a bit obsessed with Solo Leveling last week hehe. I just started reading webtoon and I have to say it went better than I expected. Solo Leveling is over and I'm currently reading Windbreaker. It started well, let's see how it goes. Of course, the main purpose of these readings is; Developing my visual library about framing and drawings. Don't believe me if I say something like:)) It was really nice.
Anyway, what I did in my project this week, let me tell you a little about them. Last week, I studied 3 poses and decided to do animatics. But I wanted to draw the keyframes before the animatic. Then I'll move on to animation. Here's how I select keyframes: Can an outsider understand my story even roughly? The answer should be yes hehe :)
Anyway, less text this week, more frames. I hope it will be a good week for you. With love.
What do you think? It doesn't seem to be going bad. Ha?

WEEK4
Greetings a new Sunday update. But first I want to say something about this blog. I know we have left behind the internet age where people read long articles. But the main goal here is to write down my process of learning 2d animation and creating a portfolio. Maybe it would be great if someone someday find these notes and get inspired. Let's get to this week's developments.
The project I'm working on day by day takes shape in my head. That's fine, but I still don't have the ability to draw what I'm thinking. I hope one day… I've worked out a few poses this week.
In this first scene, Jean shakes her head and smiles. That's why I wanted to draw a smile pose. There will be a role animation here. It will be a simple smile.
This is the second pose. It will hit the ears. This pose challenged me. Because I can't be sure of the details. I'm trying to add fine details to give the texture of the clothes, but I'm not sure if this will be difficult for me in animation. But I'm so stuck in this pose, it's not good behavior. I will try to draw faster. It's hard to draw clothes, but hehe.
This pose should feel like a powerful blow and make an impact. That's why slow mo will start at first and it will hit at once. Timing occurs in my head. After the hit, the opponent's balance will be disturbed. This balance event; I want to strengthen it with camera shake, blackout, blur etc.
A few minutes later heheh…
I am changing the next storyboard scene. Because the pose doesn't work well at the angle I'm thinking of. After hitting his ears…
Maybe a new storyboard will be needed. It's good that I practiced these poses. I've seen what doesn't work. The process may take a little longer, but the purpose is to learn, so I will take a step back and update.
Then I continue the week with an update like this. I'm going to make some kind of animatic storyboard. Next week, if I generally like this animatic, I can work on the finished frames (space-color).
Anyway, I hope I can produce more work next week. It will be good for me to make daily plans for this. I wish everyone a nice week. Love, greetings.

WEEK3
Today is Saturday. An early update arrived today. Actually, it's not because I work very well. I even worked less this week. I had other things to do and I couldn't devote much time to drawing. How are you? I hope you're good. Let's see what I did this week.
This week I tried poses for the characters from different angles. And I also worked on their faces. I tried to create an expression sheet. And that got me busy haha. Drawing faces is really hard work. My mistakes are noticed immediately. Because as human beings, faces are always the first thing that catches our attention. But for a novice art student like me, this creates a paradox. I see that there is a problem in the faces I draw and I cannot figure out what the problem is. And this causes me to try many times. But that's how we learn, right?
The pose I worked on for Jean had to be dynamic, and the movement of his jacket had to play an important role in the animation. Followthrough… Then I realized that the poses are different but the faces are the same or should I say I didn't want to draw faces again hehe. Then I had to try hard and tried to draw Jean's face from different angles. The result is as below.
Then it was his opponent's turn. I like the front view and facial proportions of the character. However, I tried to draw faces from different angles and with different emotions. And the result is as below. The bottom face is K.O. face. Does it differ? I hope I was able to show you at least a little bit of pain hehe.
Yep, that's how this week went. Next week I will draw and look at the poses of the characters with each other. Keyframes are coming. Wait hehe… Maybe I'll do some background work.
I wish you a good weekend and also a good week. Best regards...

Week2
Hi. It's another Sunday and I've finished the 2nd part of my project. I tried to do my best within the limits of my own abilities. Character design is always a challenging experience for me. However, I'm getting used to it more and more. My characters look more real. I guess. I hope hehe.
In character design, I first started with Jean, the main character. I listed and thought about the keywords for this character.
Jean Tannen; I think of a strong and big character. However, this size should not be a huge muscle mass, but softer lines. A loyal friend and protector. He also loves to read romance novels. He eats the pear as a whole :)) opposite this soft side is the Wicked Sisters. He is a marvelous warrior and a ruthless force against his enemies. For this reason, I imagine a bit of a badass bookworm.
And I'm looking for it. Where? In silhouettes…
Still searching...
And I find.
I'm still posing roughly and doing a simple turn.
II. Character
Then I come to the part of designing the enemy, the opponent. This character will take a good beating, but he must still be a shabby gang leader. He should have been a strong fighter and had a great beating from Jean with this strength. I start the same process again, Keywords… Silhouettes… Shape Language etc.
I catch one of the silhouettes and go after it.
And yes I found it. Now it's time to draw a vs scene. And of course I have to dress these friends. Otherwise it's immoral for them to look like this :))
And the last scene…
The characters can't wait to fight!
Oh, by the way, Tumblr was banned in my country, it's been 2 weeks since my decision to keep a blog. I guess it's a sign from God. "I'm making things harder for you, so I might mean work better." I haven't found him yet, but one day for sure...
I wish everyone a good and happy week. See you next week.

Week1
Hello. It's Sunday and I'm here to review the first week. This week I handled the Storyboard part of my Project. It didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted. I took a break from drawing, my hand is still not warm. But I know I will gradually warm my hand. So it will be a good exercise to make figure drawings every morning before I start working on the Project. I do this with Ethan Becker's breakdown method. This way I can see my mistakes. Anyway, back to what I did this week.
First I had to think about the most important part for Storyboard. Shots… It's hard to decide which angles the scenes will be more epic, because my cinematography knowledge isn't as large as I'd like. For this subject; I watch more anime, read manga and try to examine the frames that I like about framing. Another difficulty for me in choosing the scene is this; Economy in frames… if I choose very difficult angles, it is very difficult to draw them, this is the biggest sin for 2d animation. Proven by experience.😊 But the dilemma here is that simple camera angles can kill the epicness of the scene. I had to do some frame research for this, and the result was the first version of my Storyboard.
I'm not going to explain the scenes one by one. I hope an outside eye can roughly understand what I mean. (My wife got it heheh she's great).
The second version was actually a slightly cleaner of the first version. I made anatomical adjustments as much as I could. I threw out some frames and worked on the expressions. And it turned out something like this. Not bad, I guess I can move on to the next level, what do you think?

See you next Sunday. I have two characters that I need to design. I wish you a good week.

Jean Tannen 2d Animation Project

I am planning to recreate a scene in which my favorite character from Scott Lynch's Gentlemen Bastards series is in 2d animation. This is the project I'm working on right now. While carrying out this project, I will document what I did step by step, what I learned, what I had difficulty in doing. I will prepare this on a blog page and present it in weeks.
First, the planning part;
I need to progress in the form of weekly missions. The reason I do this is to prevent me from getting caught up in the artist delusion and overworking on any area. I want to avoid analysis paralysis. My goal is to reach a finished job. That's why I don't plan to work longer than 2 weeks in any part. My deadline will be suitable for that. I plan to work at 1-week intervals and write down the pros and cons of the work I do and move on to the new stage.
31 October Start
Week 1 —> Storyboard Week 2 —> Character Design (Color-Clothes) Week 3 —> Working out poses by dividing the scenes Week 4 —> Study the Finished Squares. (Color) — What will this animation look like when it's finished? Week 5 —> Animatic - Timing Must be running. Week 6 —> Start animating the scenes. Week 7 —> Animation continued. Week 8 —> Animation. Control week. Week 9 —> Composition and Voice
The process should be more or less like this over time. It may take 1-2 weeks for extra situations.
Every Sunday, I will prepare and present a blog post about what was done that week. I hope I get a good result. Ll see.
