I know as an asthmatic that stress exacerbated by asthma symptoms. Stressors come through food and environment. What role does the mind play? Asthma UK reports that 43% of asthmatics state that stress is a decisive trigger. This is evidence that the mind controls nearly half of asthmatic triggers. Stress when out of control destroys health and breaks the body and mind down. As a Stress Reduction Specialist, I use hypnotherapy, NLP, strategic goal setting, whilst utilising effective sleep retraining, exercise and effective sunlight exposure.
Stress is a necessary mechanism, though if it becomes chronic, then it can invade other areas of the mind and body and bring about explosions of inflammation and virtually all physical illnesses are preceded by chronic inflammation. Smoke Free
It is clear that we were not born with a cigarette in our mouths. Food, air and water are essential. Cigarettes are not. So is it easy to give up smoking? A good way to answer this is to consider all the times when you do take an extended break from cigarettes. When I smoked, I had the flu and it plunged me into a sleep for eighteen hours. When I woke, I was delirious and could not eat much - and smoking was a distant possibility. This lasted three days. Also, when I was in hospital suffering from an asthma attack, I did not smoke for two days... Many women give up smoking when they are pregnant. Extreme situations where people are stranded without supplies also mean they did not smoke for extended periods of time.
