My addition to this post is about to be long and maybe a little intense, so I want to give a TW up top for discussion of sexual violence and trauma.

I had the misfortune of coming out to a very conservative family. My mom couldn't even acknowledge it other than to tell me that she doesn't want to hear about my sex life. She heard "I'm bi", which is not even the label I settled on in the end, and she kept saying that she doesn't want to hear about my sex life.

Except, she had wanted to hear about it when she had hopes it would be with a man and that we might make her a grandmother. She did want to hear when she invaded my privacy and read my diary, where I had detailed not only the sexual fantasies I was having and confused by, but the sexual trauma I was not yet ready to talk about. She was fine with it when she stole a sex toy I had purchased to heal my relationship with my own body out of the mail from me when I was 19. The only time and place where she was seemingly uncomfortable with having her nose in my business and sex life is when it became about the sex I would want to consent to. Then, I was expected to shut out all thought of it.

I still think about how damaging it was to have to detail assaults I was not ready to talk about and then not be allowed to enjoy my own body. How much it reinforced the idea that my body belonged to everyone but me. How much the shame of sexual interest further traumatized me in my first consensual experiences. How much I was unable to say no because it wasn't mine to say no to.

I will scream from the rooftops about how harmful purity culture is until the day I die, because it almost killed me multiple times. It is also very responsible for turning me into a slut. I had not even unpacked the depths of my queerness before it was became clear to me that I was going to be sexualized against my will for the rest of my life. The innocent shit like holding hands would be seen as just explicit as getting railed in the parking lot after a concert.

I wish people would stop saying “It’s July. Well done for wasting half a year.” Did you make someone smile in the past six months? Did you stroke a cat or throw a stick for a dog? Did you learn a new fact or teach someone a new joke? Did you laugh, cry, scream or sing in the past six months? Because if so, congratulations for not wasting your time at all.

did they change the way the stalk market works in animal crossing or is my luck just that bad

for three weeks in a row, my prices have not gone over 95 bells. the last time i played this game, I always had at least a couple of days where I was offered 120 or more.

i don't even want to engage in that part of the game anymore because what is the point if I am going to lose bells on it every time?
