So last year I talked about trying to learn skills for a new job. I built that up and then surprisingly that job kind of fell into my lap. So now I have two jobs, which may be why some of the above is low, but does not explain how I got so many books done, except that many were technical books.

Next year I plan to research even more about mental models.

This year I fell into learning about note taking and zettelkasten systems as well as stoicism. I would not say I deeply studied either, but I learned enough to apply them.

Albums were lower than one a day. Nothing much to report here (except a new control number 4,444). There are a lot of Colin Stetson albums I have never heard and will probably try to fill that in next year. Last year I said I would like to keep filling in letterboxd filmographies, but instead I got more into watching as many old A24 films as I could. I found several good ones. I guess I will try to combine those two goals as a method of discovery next year.

I liked all these shows. Not sure what the stand out was. If it was something I was watching every week like Ted Lasso, I forgot to put it on here. Probably try to get into Succession next year since it is over now and easy to binge. 5 is the one I most want to see more of and probably rewatch. 13 too.

Forgot to post my halloween doings. Only made it to 85 horror films and a few ere not actually horror films once I got into them.

8 is old so you probably already know how great it is. 23 was great fun. 37 and 40 were both good. I was told 50 was bad, but I actually highly recommend it. 58 was fun and a little different than I expected. 61 was good as was 63. 62 was kind of silly but I enjoyed it. And 65 was maybe the best one (plus it makes fetch happen at the end). 71 may become a new favorite series if they make follow ups. 79 was good and I had forgotten about the first movie in the series. I may watch both of those together next year.

734 books, no surprise there.

250 albums which seems a bit low.

I did not achieve my submission goal, but I have enough written that I can edit and submit frequently next year. There was a 3 month span where I was writing 3 or 4 things a day, but then I had a bad thing happen which cascaded into another bad thing, and though I did write two things about it, it kind of killed the momentum I had built up, and I only wrote those two things in the last month.

I have one new thing I need to learn to complete the skill set I determined I would need if I need to look for a new job in June. It should not be difficult to learn it. I already made a roadmap and gathered the materials I will need. I guess a goal could be preemptively finding a new job, but I doubt I will. No other real target goal for next year aside from the aforementioned acquisition and submission. The latter I have also heavily researched and read a submission guide for my chosen field and weeded out of the 2000 or so venues anything that did not fit for me. It seems pretty evident the best places to submit require money for a reader’s fee, but that is in exchange for feedback regardless of acceptance, so that seems worth it due to my inexperience.

I feel like I am the least prepared for this coming year even though the last few were also fairly goalless. I guess I am in the mood for a hard goal again, so I will look for something.

There was no method to my movie watching except for trying to complete filmographies on letterboxd. That led to some interesting discoveries, so I will continue that. No method to music either (new control number 4,111), but there are several discographies like David Byrne and Bjork I would like to complete by filling in their more obscure albums.

I probably have to move soon so most of my reading has been about what can I complete quickly that I can sell back to the bookstore right after in order to lighten my transportation needs later.
