Bittersweet Farewell This is my final blog, and with it comes a mix of emotions. To those who got hired congratulations! This is your moment, and you’ve truly earned it. For some of us, the journey may not have led to the outcome we hoped for, but I’m incredibly grateful for the experience and everything I’ve learned along the way. Working here has been a blessing, and I’ll always carry the lessons and memories with me. To my friends who haven’t been hired yet but continue to show up and give their best every single day you are an inspiration. This may not be our time, but I believe every step we take brings us closer to where we’re meant to be. Thank you to everyone who shared this journey with me it’s been unforgettable.
A Journey of Growth As I write this final blog, I can’t help but reflect on how much I’ve grown through this journey. From handling the stress of customer service to moments of unexpected gratitude from customers, every experience has been a lesson. There were times when I worked through illness or was mistaken for a supervisor simply because of how I carried myself. Those moments were challenging, but what kept me going was the camaraderie I shared with my friends and the support from the amazing CSRS employees. Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures to share due to storage issues, but the memories and connections I’ve made along the way are more than enough to make me happy. This journey has been fulfilling, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next.

Earning Smiles, Earning Trust One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is seeing how my efforts make a real difference in the lives of customers. Although my manager doesn’t always catch me in action, the feedback I receive from travelers speaks volumes. Many have told me how much they appreciate my kindness and positive attitude, which makes their experience smooth and enjoyable. I often hear them say they feel safe and happy when I assist them, which is the best compliment I could ever ask for. Some customers even go so far as to say they hope I get hired permanently because they see how much I genuinely care. Knowing that I’ve left such a positive impression keeps me motivated every day.

Leaving a Lasting Impression Every time I go to work, I remind myself to represent not just Porter but also my own personal values of kindness and professionalism. It feels amazing to know that customers notice these efforts. They often tell me how my cheerful demeanor and willingness to help make their travels more pleasant and stress-free. Even though my manager might not always see me in action, the high customer ratings I receive speak for themselves. Some travelers have even expressed that they wish to see me hired full-time because of how I brighten their day. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do making someone’s journey better is always worth the effort.

A Day of Laughter and Challenges
There’s something about working with friends that makes even the most stressful days manageable. Today was one of those days where everything seemed to go wrong a rush of customers, endless questions, and constant multitasking. Yet, amidst all the chaos, my friends and I managed to share a few laughs during our break. A funny moment happened when a customer tried to hand me a tip, thinking I was an employee. Explaining that I don’t originally work here was awkward but also sweet. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love representing Porter with pride, even when I’m under the weather.

Celebrating the Small Wins Every day at work feels like a rollercoaster some moments are stressful, others are rewarding, and there are even times when they’re downright hilarious. For instance, a customer once tried to tip me for helping them, even though I explained that I don’t originally work here. What stuck with me was how genuinely kind they were. On another occasion, a customer mistook me for a supervisor, which felt like a compliment to how I carry myself at work. Even on days when I feel sick or overwhelmed, knowing I have amazing friends to share these moments with keeps me grounded. This blog marks another milestone in my journey, and I’m so thankful for every experience.

Dedication Despite Difficulties
Even on days when I’m feeling sick, I still push myself to come to work and give my best. Customer service is never easy, especially when stress builds up from handling different situations. I remember a time when a customer tried to give me a tip, thinking I was a regular employee. I politely declined, explaining that I don’t originally work here, but I still take pride in representing Porter with professionalism. Customers often mistake me for a supervisor because of my appearance and demeanor, which is both flattering and challenging. At the end of the day, working alongside friends makes everything better, turning even the hardest days into moments of joy.
Tumblr media
Small Gestures, Big Impact One of the most heartwarming moments I’ve experienced at work was when a customer sincerely thanked me for my assistance and said I made their day easier. Even though the stress of customer service can be overwhelming, moments like these remind me of the positive impact we can have on others. It was amusing when the same customer thought I was a supervisor, likely because of how I present myself and my uniform. Although I don’t originally work here, it’s humbling to be seen that way. Even when I’m not feeling my best like on days when I’m sick I find strength knowing that I’m part of a team that truly supports one another.

The Stress of Customer Service Working in customer service has taught me a lot about patience and adaptability, but I have to admit, the stress can be overwhelming at times. There are moments when I find myself juggling multiple tasks while addressing the needs of customers, and it can feel like an endless challenge. One particular instance stood out when a customer insisted on giving me a tip, even though I had to politely decline and explain that I don’t originally work here. It’s moments like these that remind me of the importance of professionalism. Interestingly, many customers assume I’m a supervisor because of the way I dress and represent Porter. Despite being sick on some days, I still show up to work with a sense of dedication. What makes it all bearable is having my friends around, who make every stressful day a little easier to get through.

Unexpected Compliments The other day, a customer approached me, complimented my professionalism, and insisted on tipping me for my assistance. It was a kind gesture, but I had to explain that I don’t originally work here. It’s always flattering when customers think I’m a supervisor because of how I carry myself. However, maintaining this image isn’t easy, especially when I’m dealing with stress or working while feeling unwell. Despite the challenges, being surrounded by supportive colleagues and friends makes every day worthwhile. They are the reason I feel comfortably happy coming to work, even during the toughest times.

Finding Strength in Challenges There are days when the stress of customer service feels insurmountable. Whether it’s dealing with demanding customers or working while feeling under the weather, each day presents its own set of challenges. One memorable moment was when a customer insisted on giving me a tip because they thought I went above and beyond. While I don’t originally work here, gestures like these remind me why I strive to represent Porter in the best way possible. It’s humbling that many customers think I’m a supervisor just because of how I present myself. What keeps me grounded and motivated, however, are my friends, who bring light to even the most stressful days.

My Airport Journey, Sep-November ❤️
Terminal with Skylight: This stunning shot captures the essence of modern travel at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The architectural design, with its high ceilings and expansive skylights, creates a welcoming and open space for travelers. It’s not just an airport , it’s a place where journeys begin and end, and dreams of flight are realized. For me, this view symbolizes the beauty of aviation and the excitement that comes with every takeoff and landing.

A glimpse behind the scenes! This is where the real work begins as we prepare to welcome passengers. From checking flight details to coordinating with the crew, each step is crucial to ensure a smooth travel experience. Every time I sit here, I’m reminded of the responsibility and precision that go into making each flight safe and enjoyable. It's a rewarding role that keeps me excited about my journey in the aviation industry.

A Break with Colleagues Taking a break with my colleague during a quiet moment in the terminal. Working together as a team makes every day fulfilling, and these breaks give us a chance to recharge, share a laugh, and bond over our shared experiences in flight services.

The Beginning of My Journey
Hello, My name is Mykaella, and I’m currently in my 4th semester of studying flight services at Seneca College. This blog will document my experiences during my placement as I work toward becoming a flight attendant. I’ve always been passionate about travel, exploring new places, and connecting with people from different cultures. This placement is an exciting opportunity for me to take my first real steps into the aviation industry and share the highs and challenges that come with it.
Ever since I was young, the idea of flying has fascinated me. I love the energy of airports, the thrill of stepping onto a plane, and the thought of being part of a team that ensures passengers have the best possible experience during their travels. Being a flight attendant isn’t just about serving drinks at 30,000 feet it’s about safety, teamwork, and making someone's journey more enjoyable. This role gives me the chance to combine my love for travel with my natural desire to help others.
What excites me the most about the role is the variety. No two days are the same, and every flight is different. I’ll be meeting people from all walks of life, learning to handle different situations, and growing professionally in a fast paced, ever changing environment. The idea of being a part of this dynamic industry is what keeps me motivated.
Through this placement, I want to sharpen my communication and teamwork skills, learn how to handle difficult situations with grace, and become more confident in providing excellent service. I also hope to gain insight into the daily routines and behind the scenes operations of airlines, which will better prepare me for the role of a flight attendant. By the end of this journey, I aim to be fully equipped to take on the challenges and rewards of this career.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be posting about my experiences, the challenges I face, and the lessons I learn along the way. Stay tuned for more updates as I take you along with me on this exciting journey!
