What a gorgeous MV. I knew I was going to like this song the second I heard Zhang Hao’s part, and of course, I was not disappointed! It feels like a fun night during autumn and I love it.

ARrC has finally debuted!! I loved the imagery in this music video and how they referenced “The Fox and The Grapes” throughout it. Their concept seems to revolve around the fable, which I find very fascinating. I also loved the b-sides on their EP such as “shadow” and “light up”. This was a great debut and I’ll be looking forward to their future releases!

I Hear the Sunspot Episode 7 thoughts/analysis
(Spoilers ahead!)
————————————————————————
Tumblr media
Knowing we’re over halfway through the show, starting the episode with scenes from the beginning was an excellent and rather emotional choice. It puts into perspective just how much their relationship has grown and how we’ve seen it progress each week.
Tumblr media
THE BENTO BOXES. It’s literally them, you guys. This also seems like a callback to how their friendship started in the first place, which was Taichi approaching Kohei and asking for some of his lunch. Not to mention, his mom found them in a pair. This is what you call fate!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taichi has not forgotten about the kiss he and Kohei shared! The way that the simple thought of it turned him into a blushing mess was so cute. Whether he realizes it or not, he has definitely fallen hard.
Tumblr media
Taichi falling down a hill and catching Kohei off guard, just like how they first met, was adorable. The only difference is that back then he was trying to win Kohei over, and now he’s trying to win him back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kohei & Taichi making each other jealous seems to be a never-ending saga at this point. Kohei even took it upon himself to entertain the woman at the dinner table so she and Taichi wouldn’t get too close. The possessiveness the two have for each other is insane (in a good way!).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way Kohei & Taichi talk about each other will always be endearing. I feel like this was similar to what Taichi said about Kohei in episode 5, such as how people don’t understand the other’s personality. Kohei actually doesn’t want others to see that side of Taichi, though. He straight up admitted he wanted him for himself, which honestly isn’t surprising considering his actions not only throughout the show but also a couple of minutes earlier in the episode.
Tumblr media
Taichi’s face when his friends were talking about how Kohei may not need him anymore broke me. He’s gotten so used to being around him all the time to the point he can’t cope with their relationship being any other way. It also doesn’t help that everyone around him is telling him what he already suspected. He’s always been the optimistic one and willing to fight for the both of them to remain in each other’s lives but now he’s convinced he has no purpose in Kohei’s life anymore, which is not true at all.
This episode was cute yet stressful. While I’m not a fan of her character so far, I’m looking forward to seeing what Maya will bring to the table as far as the plot goes. So far it just seems like she’s there to drive a wedge between Kohei & Taichi because she feels like the latter doesn't understand Kohei like she does, but I hope that’s not all there is to it and we get to see more depth from her character.

I Hear the Sunspot episode 6 thoughts/analysis
(Spoilers ahead!)
————————————————————————
Tumblr media
Can we talk about Taichi’s pure joy and excitement when he found out Kohei was joining them on the camping trip? After all this time of slowly getting him to open up, this must’ve felt like such a huge accomplishment. He also got to spend more time with him after their makeup. Win-win!
Tumblr media
I like how every time one of them experiences jealousy, they can never recognize it. They’re both very possessive of each other and have no clue, which can be hilarious but also a bit stressful to watch play out.
Tumblr media
Yet again, Kohei admitted his true feelings to Taichi, and he failed to pick up on the hints. Despite this, I still feel like throughout this episode, Taichi starts to reciprocate said feelings but can't identify them yet.
Tumblr media
The entire fishing sequence was so cute. After Taichi worried and even apologized to Kohei because he thought he wasn't enjoying himself, Kohei admitted the only reason he was acting cold was that he was afraid of letting his guard down. This is small yet meaningful because, as we've seen, this is a vulnerable topic for him. Yet here he is, admitting it all to Taichi, who even encouraged him to show his real personality more.
Tumblr media
Speaking of cute scenes, this one right here has my whole heart. Kohei taking what he learned, teaching Taichi how to sign his name, and also his favorite food was adorable. Their dynamic is so precious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This might be the boldest move we've seen yet from Kohei as far as him being raw with how he feels. Between this and forcing himself to avert his gaze while Taichi was stuck signing his name, there's no denying he's down horrendously.
Tumblr media
Once again, miscommunication causes tension between the two. Both are experiencing newfound feelings, and neither knows how to tell the other. Taichi’s inner dialogue made this clear when he questioned himself. He realized he may not have entirely disliked Kohei’s advances. This is what I meant earlier when I said he's slowly making sense of things.
Tumblr media
On a lighter note, Taichi is taking being a note-taker more seriously and is even taking proper classes for it. He's trying his hardest to get better, and you can tell how much Kohei appreciates it.
Tumblr media
To add to the last point, Taichi has also made an effort to translate jokes made by their professor so Kohei won’t feel left out. When you compare this to earlier episodes where Kohei struggled with understanding the jokes while everyone else laughed, you can see how much Taichi has positively impacted his life.
Now, about next week's preview: Kohei and Maya seem to be getting closer. This affects Taichi a lot, and he starts to question if Kohei does need him. Their friendship may be what it takes for Taichi to end the disarray that is his mind and feelings.
I enjoyed this episode and the moments that came from it. The next episode seems to be a bit heavier, so I’m glad that we got this to balance it out.

bringing this masterpiece back. it’s so beautiful and wonderfully explained
My Love (Color) Mix-Up
Disaster bisexual Aoki and stoic (aro?) Ida of My Love Mix-Up/Kieta Hatsukoi are color-coded boys in love, but unlike most series where the colors are quickly given, seeing the colors emerge throughout the series was a key part of the narrative.
So we must start with the plot:
Aoki likes Hashimoto who is a Green Gal (lively and hopeful).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Aoki thinks about her or speaks to her, he is engulfed in his color, like in this moment, he is looking at her.
Tumblr media
But normally, this Orange Oddity's color is muted (optimistic and communicative).
Tumblr media
Because he thinks Hashimoto likes Ida who is a Blue Boy (stable and loyal).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yet an eraser causes Ida to believe Aoki likes him.
Tumblr media
Instead of freaking out, Ida says "bet" and so begins the delicious color extravaganza!
As mentioned, Aoki's color is muted.
Tumblr media
But the second Ida starts paying him some attention, Aoki's color starts evolving.
Tumblr media
First, he morphs from tan to yellow
Tumblr media
After Ida works with Aoki in the play and immerses him in blue
Tumblr media
But Aoki is worried about Hashimoto's feelings since he believes she likes Ida. He discusses this with her while both are highlighted by their color with hints of the other person lingering in the shots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yet Hashimoto informs Aoki that she actually likes Aida, Ida's Red Rascal friend (more like a Red Flag if you ask me, but he is spontaneous and energetic).
Tumblr media
The entire class has to go on a trip, and Aoki feels more confident in his color after Ida confesses to wanting to try being with Aoki.
Tumblr media
Once they get back home, Aoki freaks out
Tumblr media
But he does a great job of covering it up.
Tumblr media
Not really. Not at all. The boy is losing it! His love for Ida is evolving quickly and his emotions are written all over him in his brightening color. Some issues emerge with Hashimoto and Aida (telling you that he is a giant Red Flag!), so Aoki mutes his color a bit to not rub salt in his friend's wound, yet his tutor even notices Aoki in love, but is bothered that Aoki likes a boy. Aoki cannot hide his feelings, so his Blue Boy becomes a vegan for a day to squash that beef.
Tumblr media
Aoki's color comes back and Hashimoto reminds him that in order to date Ida, who is doing everything right, he has to like actually go on dates with Ida.
Tumblr media
And just like before, Ida says "bet" and asks Aoki out on a date.
Tumblr media
The date is great despite Aoki picking a movie where the dog dies in the end and both boys are solid in their colors.
Tumblr media
Well, until Aoki freaks out again believing that Ida doesn't feel as deeply as he does (which it would be kind of hard to tell since Ida's sweater turns from the softest blue into white). However, with Hashimoto's encouragement, Aoki decides to properly confess to Ida about just how deep his feelings are (as if it isn't obvious).
Tumblr media
But Ida tells Aoki that Ida already admitted to his teammates that they were dating after they questioned seeing the two out together on their date. Aoki, worried that Ida will be bullied for dating him, breaks up with Ida and falls deep into the blue.
Tumblr media
Ida's teammates explain to Ida how Aoki came to them claiming that they were never dating and begging for the team to be kind to Ida. Ida realizing what Aoki was doing runs after him (Japan and that damn running!), and we get one of the most fucking satisfying color exchanges from any show ever.
Tumblr media
DO YOU SEE THAT?! DO YOU SEE IT?! Aoki, void of color, walking aimlessly, immediately is surrounded by Ida's color the second Ida hugs him, then the camera pans out to show how BOTH of their colors are present.
*I'M SCREAMING!*
Ida talks to Aoki in Aoki's color letting Aoki know that he feels just as deeply for him as Aoki feels for him.
Tumblr media
When Aoki finally turns around, both boys are equal in their colors and feelings.
Tumblr media
Aoki believes Ida, and they sit down to watch the lights, covered in their love and colors.
Tumblr media
And the show ends where it began, with an eraser.

My interpretation of ARrC’s concept based on what I’ve seen so far.
Starting from the beginning with their concept photos:
“Fancy the notion that what you presumed sour could be sweet?”
This phrase was captioned on all of their concept photos. After seeing this, plus the cover art on their upcoming physical album,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Credit to @luvyudays on Twitter because I did not catch this at first).
I think it’s safe to assume that their concept is based on the Aesop fable “The Fox & the Grapes”.
The tale is about a fox who desires to get a bunch of grapes he sees hanging from a vine. After failing to do so, he no longer viewed the grapes lovingly, but with disgust.
“What a fool I am,” he said. “Here I am wearing myself out to get a bunch of sour grapes that are not worth gaping for.”
This quote from the tale was the one that reminded me most of the one from earlier. The fox presumed the grapes were sour and refused to entertain the idea of them being sweet, even though he hadn’t gotten the opportunity to taste them. As the moral of the story states, “There are many who pretend to despise and belittle that which is beyond their reach.”
Now, onto their song "Dummy" and it’s lyrics. I don’t know if the song is connected to the aforementioned concept because it is a pre-release after all, but I’d still like to point out some lyrics I found interesting and thought could have some ties to the story.
“Everybody looks so thirsty
Dopamine bomb in the bad news
Saccharine addicted bad tooth”
When describing the grapes, the author of the aforementioned tale stated that they “seemed ready to burst with juice,” which could describe the thirsty feeling.
Now onto the next line. Dopamine is a chemical messenger in the brain that can give you feelings of pleasure, satisfaction, or, like we saw from the fox, motivation. After seeing the grapes, the fox barely hesitated before leaping towards the branch, only to fail after many tries. The attempt was “bad news” from the beginning due to its difficulty, but the fox disregarded the fact due to his addiction to the sweetness.
Something I noticed in their recent concept photos is that three members (Jibeen, Kien, and Rioto) have grapes while the other four members don’t.
Tumblr media
This could have little to no significance, but seeing how they’re incorporating fables into their music and overall image, I think there's a possibility it does and leads to a bigger story.
If you've made it this far, let me know what you guys think!
