Snowy Monday
Today is a really pretty snow day and I am still stuck at home unable to get to work. My original plan was to take the bus in since my car (my only means of transportation) is only a front-wheel drive and I have only partially cleared the nine inches of snow off of, and I still have to dig around it so that I can even think of getting into it to get it started just to warm it up.
My neighbor was kind enough to plow my driveway, but shoveling is still required around my car. It is just me, so if I want it done, guess who has to do it. And, of course, the road I have to take to get to a main road hasn't been plowed yet, so there is that as well. The main roads may be passable, but I still have to be able to get out of my own driveway and get to that main road, something my particular employer does not quite seem to understand ... "well, we're here if you decide to come in." It ain't a matter of deciding anything, buddy, the roads are bad and I'm not stupid.
I am not willing to risk damaging my vehicle or myself to get to a job that I already know doesn't give a crap about me. It's just not worth it. I'm trying to hang on at work just in case I have to relocate (more on that at another time) and hopefully I can transfer to another store where ever I end up.
The hits just keep on coming and I am not going to add another one by risking my car and life to get to work. I can't do without my car or my life so I will just do the best I can and if anyone has a problem with that, well, tough. Some people just really suck .....
