The poachers in the Mystery Skulls Animated x Wild Kratts crossover could've been grabbing creatures in the U.S. With the many Europeans invading the continent came along invasive species they dragged with them or which followed, magical entities included.

Discounting the inherent cruelty of animal trafficking- They could've grabbed hippocampi or kelpie in the U.S. Less effort, less chances to be discovered, less costs.

But no, neither their clients nor the poachers themselves want that.

I have several ideas for the clients, and why they want these specific creatures from across the ocean (their motivations, expectedly, awful). The poachers themselves get more money by smuggling the creatures in. Some of them also stroke their ego with it.

Which adds to the ecological damages they're causing. They're removing creatures from their homes, maybe damaging their biomes, and dragging them into a new place they might not be adapted to. If they escape, you have stressed, angry, and fearful creatures who will cause damage and lash out.

Or you have those who can and will adapt, and will become an invasive specimen that the local nature and magic isn't adapted to fight off.

And that's not even accounting for entities like spirits and ghosts.

On the other hand, this smoothens over the cooperation between the two groups. The Mystery Skulls' focus is on the supernatural, which is interwined with the natural world. They care for the 'mundane' animals and the ecosystem, too, even though they lack the deeper understanding the Tortuga Crew possesses.

That said. I have the idea that the Tortuga Crew discovers somewhat early that they're dealing with unknown species that might be supernatural, and try to keep that knowledge from the Mystery Skulls. The Mystery Skulls try to do the same. XDD

Crossover in which the Mystery Skulls and the Wild Kratts converge to the same location by chance.

The Wild Kratts are here to study the local fauna, and stumble upon animal trafficking by chance. But something even more sinister is hiding. Some of the captured animals are not behaving as expected or naturally. The Wild Kratts' minds get fuzzy if they try to study them closely.

Not to mention that despite having a lion disc on hand, touching a tuft from a lion's mane doesn't let Chris transform.

They're not behaving 'naturally' because the poachers have a secret about their operations.

The Mystery Skulls followed rumors about poachers - the same ones! - using the cover of 'mundane' animal trafficking to smuggle captured magical animals as well as other beings like spirits into the U.S. They disguise them via magic as mundane animals:

Winged lions and griffins become 'lions'. Kelpies become 'wild horses'. Different species of hyppocampi are either disguised as horses, too, or as dolphins.

That doesn't change that many of them are animals, and are cramped with other animals in a highly stressful situation. Vivi and Mystery know a lot about demons and spirits, but they also expected to only deal with that. They, and by the extension the entirety of the Mystery Skulls, are thrown for a loop when they expect to deal with griffins, and there are real lions in the cages.

Also, every capture? Absolutely stressed to the nine.

And I haven't even gotten to each group's reaction to the existence of magic / science-fiction level of transformation devices. Or how the poachers operate, and how they're even able to camouflage with magic, or why they're doing this.

Oohh, Vivi's are my favorites!

I love the range of styles and expressions. The first feels like a comfortable beach wear and / or on a hot summer day. The second is more formal and could work in an office or speaking with clients. The third feels like a party-and-dance outfit. Especially the glasses are so fancy with that sweeping shape!

Yeah, this blog has been dead for quite a few months.. but I’m hoping to change that. (I’ve been busy with commissions and other things, but I’m free for the time being!)

Vivi Family HCs

- Her mother’s name is Mary, her dad: Sōsuke (聡介), & grandma: Shinobu (忍ぶ)

- Vivi calls her father “Otōsan” and her grandmother “Obaasan”. But when talking about them to non-relatives, she just refers to them as “my dad” or “my grandma”. As for her mother, she simply calls her “Mom”.

- Vivi gets her love of solving mysteries from Sōsuke, who is a forensic investigator.

- Mary is a homemaker but occasionally sews clothes & puts them for sale.

- Sōsuke is fluent in both Japanese & English. However, Shinobu isn’t as fluent in English as her son, so most of their conversations w/ each other are in Japanese.

That’s all I have for now. These hcs could be updated at any time so just keep that in mind ^ ^

Aaaahhh, you drew the Pepper Sisters so well!! They all look so neat and dynamic, and really carry that energy that children have!! My favorite are Paprika and Belle, especially because of their body language and poses. And your colors are a delight to look at!

I'm also loling about your drawing about Lewis. 🤣

I wanted to try drawing Lewis sisters, with color palletes and all, their designs are really adorable and makes me sad that there's barely info about them and their relationship with Lewis.

One thing I noticed while drawing them is different things they have in common with their older brother, Belle has the bandana/ascot(?) In her neck, Cayenne has the same "eye covering" hairstyle and even though in Paprika isn't as noticeable, is described in the wiki that Lewis in life was a really kind soul, which with the pose and design could perfectly be the same with her.

Maybe one day I'll include them in a few comics, I really wish we got more info and interactions with them and Lewis one day

Also...

Yes, they're named after actual peppers, and now that Lewis is a ghost, he became the name of a pepper too 🤣

I loev the edits, Vivi and Lewis are my favorite! I wonder, what happened to Lewis' heart locket? Does he keep it elsewhere rather than above the hole in his chest? (I've just realized that's what it is a few seconds ago.)
