just a few seconds locking his gaze with hers is more than enough to understand that he would not be getting out of this without some sort of altercation. gide steels his jaw, clenching his bleeding hand open and closed just a few times to ensure mobility. nothing vital had been damaged – at least, not yet. being the former soldier he is, gide is capable of telling if someone is truly dangerous…

there’s no denying this woman is skilled.

why she would want to attack him, he isn’t sure. perhaps she merely saw him as a worthy foe, perhaps he made an enemy somewhere that hired her… no, he’s lived a rather meaningless existence so far. it’s not uncommon for soldiers to want to fight someone worthy, at least he can attest to that much.

“… though i don’t know your reasons for attacking me, i have no intention of letting you kill me.”  gide thinks about grabbing for one of his guns, but he doesn’t move – not yet. he doesn’t want to fight in a place like this, let alone possibly hurt, possibly kill. instead, he clenches his fist, widening his stance into a defensive posture.  “i’m not a man who will go down easily.”

Shiki is almost impressed by this, her knife is in reach. He’s on his guard, running in and attacking would be foolish. Maybe using her prosthetic arm would be a good idea, she hadn’t used it on anybody for sometime. It would be a shame if it never got used again. He’s an experienced fighter, almost on par with her father. If she could survive her father’s training, she could survive this. There are more vital points to chose from, anything will do at this point.

Everything in creation has a flaw and humans just happen to be on that list.

“I would be quite disappointed if you did. What’s your name?”

“Ryougi Shiki. What a wonderful name, it sounds like those from the far east of Othard.” He trails off in thought, not long after snapping out of it.

“My apologies, Miss –Ryougi. I’m still not quite used to this place so you’ll have to excuse my energetic nature. May I ask how long you’ve been here for?”

Offering her a pleasant smile, the tip of his tail wags. His words were hesitant, as he was unsure which her family name since he wasn’t used to ones that sounded foreign. His time was limited in Kugane when it came to helping liberate Doma, so he was yet to adjust to any customs they had besides the most basic ones such as greeting people with a specific bow.

A wonderful name? It’s odd, she doesn’t believe anyone has complimented on her name before, she almost feels flattered. Almost that is. “Shiki is fine, ��Miss Ryougi’ is too formal for my tastes.” Given that her attendant would always call Shiki that, she needs a good change. “Maybe a few weeks? I haven’t been paying much attention,” giving a small shrug. It’s not like she didn’t care, it’s just why make a fuss over something like this.

sorry i havent been all that active! i was pretty busy the last week with school and i needed a good unwinding from everything otl- im back now though! hello, i hope everyone has been doing good!

someone has been following him for some time now, gide has noticed. this isn’t the first time for someone to tail him, but given the near unnoticeable presence and light footsteps, he assumes it’s someone that’s rather skilled in this area. he’s dealt with this enough to play the fool and give a perfect air of ignorance, as he doesn’t need to be on guard.

his ability does that well enough and warns him ahead of time in the case some attempt is made on his life.

it comes moments later in a vision painted in red – someone sneaks up from behind him, a blade sinks into the side of his neck and slits it open. blood sprays out in front of him, he watches with wide eyes in his last moments before crumpling to the ground like dead weight.

then, the vision ends, followed by gide immediately acting to prevent the vision from coming true. right hand moves to catch the blade with his hand, gripping tight enough for blood to drip onto his shoulder. his other hand reaches up to grab the wrist of the hand holding the knife, using all his strength to throw their body over and in front of him.

when he does, he isn’t surprised – woman, man, or anything in between, he has met many strong soldiers. his rage is the same, eyes narrowing as he squeezes his bleeding hand into a fist.

“nice try,”  he barks, mouth twisting in a snarl.  “what do you want from me?”

Surprised is the first that comes to her mind, getting thrown on the ground that is. The other must have sensed Shiki at some point, and he only now acted upon it. How would the other pinpoint the exact moment she was going to strike? Unless…he was a mage. This is becoming more tedious than planned. Quickly getting back on her feet, no, she won’t easily be defeated. There a lot more other points she could attack at. This is the time where Shiki is happy that her eyes give her more to work with.

“That’s for me to know and for you to find out.”

His ears stick up as a shocked expression fills his features. Even his arms tucked in close, hands upward in a defensive manner like a kitten that had just been scared onto its hind legs. 

Getting over the voice that startled him, he turned to face her with a sheepish smile. J’atoh greets Shiki with a bow, formal and respective. 

“Ah! – Tis’ the nation I am from. Anyroad, this appears to be the right place…So that would make you my partner in this endeavour, correct? J’atoh Lah, a pleasure to meet you.”

Wow, formal. Not something Shiki is too accustomed to. Also did his ears perk up? Partners....yeah, she had forgotten about that. It’s odd, having to be partnered up with someone she doesn’t know. Might as well get used to it now and not complain. “Same to you, I’m Ryougi Shiki...”

Saber Shiki is one of my oldest servant in my Chaldea, and I recently became close friend (meaning bond level 10) with her. She is like mom in my Chaldea. Thank you Shiki-san. I hope this dream with you continues on.  ☆

Everything was happening too fast and there were still many questions buzzing through J’atoh’s mind. Not only that, but he had to figure out this strange device that was given to him.  It took some time but the Warrior of Light eventually found himself at his designated housing. Lifting a gloved hand, the door had been opened with utmost cautious. Afterall, if his so-called partner was in there, he didn’t want to spook them.

“Hello?”

A call in the dark, his voice strong yet uncertain if there was anyone currently in the household or if he was just talking to the air itself. Not hearing an immediate response, he shut the door behind him and glanced around, ears flicking in a curious manner.   “These furnishings…They’re so different from the ones back in Eorzea.”

She really hadn’t taken the time to take a look at the apartment. If anything it reminded her of her old one, simple and empty. Shiki had been alone since she had got here, it was startling to see someone walk in. She turns around to acknowledge other and is almost baffled by their appearance. Right…there are non-humans in this world. “Eorzea?”

she’s pretty introvert, in high school she didn’t interact with many of her classmates (other than mikiya of course). anything else she’s usually rather calm and bothered.

shiki has been to a party once and literally sulked in the corner of the room.

she categorizes her likes and dislikes for example: azaka is under like and touko is under dislike. shiki puts mikiya in a total different category which is ‘i don’t know’. obviously under likes please shiki...

Kill, kill, kill, kill...

A common thought that had been running through Shiki’s head since she had arrived. No one has been catching her interest, until now that is. Finally finding someone who might be on par with her. Trailing him had been easy, had this man not been aware of her the entire time? Shiki has to keep her guard up, who knows of the other will defend themselves.

Pulling her blade out, she swiftly aims her blade towards his neck. This will end soon enough.
