I'm the type of person to get annoyed and lose my patience at my laptop, aggressively hit the screen and keyboard, or shove it across the room. And then still act confused when things don't work.

when marvin and cordelia were just starting to become friends, she’d give him cooking lessons that always ended in laughter and conversations that healed more than either of them would admit.
one day, marvin was frustrated, thinking about everything he’d done wrong with his family, and when cordelia showed up, he ended up being rude without meaning to.
that night, cordelia opened the door and there he was—covered in flour, still in his work clothes, wearing a crooked apron, holding a cupcake and a little cat-shaped salt shaker. He looked at her with an embarrassed smile and apologized, telling her that her friendship meant more to him than she knew.

Not to sound like a fuckin hippie but please for the love of god start noticing and appreciating the natural world around you. You don’t have to go hike the entire Appalachian trail or anything and I get that not everyone has access to the outdoors for various reasons, but just fucking … look around you when you’re outside. Notice the sky and the sun and the birds and creatures. Start caring about them. I’m begging you.

I utterly love this
okay so I have been going on a decent deep dive for Legally Blonde stuff because sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. it mostly started when I remembered a post I saw on here a while ago around late August/early September. in short, it was a bunch of questions Christian Borle had answered, I remembered bits of it but couldn't find the post, I SOMEHOW managed to track it down and find it!!!!
anyways, one of the questions was "An Incomplete List of Cut Songs", to which Christian responded: "Bad Idea", "Here Boy" (I think he meant Good Boy lol. this is on the official demos), "To Hell With Them", "Beacon of Positivity", "Love and War" and "You're a Rockstar Lawyer Girl." (all of which i will HAPPILY dive deeper into if anyone is open to that conversation. there is much to discuss)
I mostly stopped there (this was like 3 days ago atp) BUT yesterday I was on a hunt for quite literally anything and stumbled across A WHOLE CUT SONG. which i THINK is supposed to be the "You're a Rockstar Lawyer Girl" song Christian mentioned!
When I first re-read the title in Christian's response, I assumed it was a sort of early version of Legally Blonde (Remix) (just felt right), but after listening and thinking it out with myself I think it's actually an EARLY version of Chip on My Shoulder. As in, I'm pretty sure Chip replaced it once they reworked some things.
So, my first listen through I sort of assumed it was actually a Callahan song. Andy Karl is singing it, and he was an understudy for Callahan, so it sort of made sense. It sort of gives that vibe that Blood in the Water sets up (the "And me and that rockstar/had so much freaking fun" line reminded me of "he can get you high and laid" from the song), particularly "Can’t you feel the power?/There’s no greater thrill." But there were a few moments and other things that didn't line up.
For one, I couldn't figure out where it was supposed to take place. I'm pretty sure Orfeh sings Elle's part, and the only time Callahan and Elle are alone is right before the ballad. And while it COULD still sort of fit there (it doesn't make sense story wise to have an earlier scene with this happening), it doesn't fit quite right.
There's also a part where Andy Karl sings "Make a boyfriend beg you/For a second chance/Baby, please give me one more chanc/Pooh Bear, give me one more chance." The use of Pooh Bear obviously implies Warner, which I ALSO considered for a second, but the first part of the song talks about passing the bar.
But what I think makes the most sense, leaning back into the Chip on My Shoulder feels, is that this song is a reflection of an early draft of Emmett's character as well. Andy Karl was also an understudy for Emmett, so that checks out. The Greek Chorus in the background (from the recording at least) also checks out since they're part of Chip.
The main reasons I think of this particularly is how, even from the beginning of writing the musical, Emmett's character was one they wanted to flush out. In the context of this particular song, he's already gained the confidence that Elle helps him find in the final version of the musical. He's the one inspiring her in this version to sort of win back her own confidence which also sort of happens in Chip?
It makes sense that this one wasn't on the official demos mostly because Take It Like a Man was there; if this really is an Emmett song then Take It Like a Man doesn't make much sense. I remember reading somewhere that both Laura Bell Bundy and Christian Borle had sort of pushed for a love song for Elle and Emmett which is allegedly how Take It Like a Man was born. And this song having a more confident version of Emmett makes sense that they wouldn't exist in the same iteration of the musical.
I mean, there's a lot to draw from Emmett's character but like, these lines I think can easily be connected to having a chip on his shoulder lol
He’d tell me nothing keeps a rockstar off that stage And I’m a rockstar No one’s gonna put me in a cage ‘Cause I’m a rockstar
And then also:
No, I make my own rockstars And that brings us to you
Probably just setting up how he's trying to help Elle realize her potential, which follow in these lines:
Make a boyfriend beg you For a second chance Baby, please give me one more chance Pooh Bear, give me one more chance
were just Emmett giving Elle that motivation to do what she had to do, since, at this point, she's likely doing this to win back Warner.
There's also the use of "ignoramus" which is a word I had to google... which checks out because Emmett uses big words sometimes
And the ending of the song parallels Chip, too:
Nothing keeps a rockstar off that stage No one’s gonna put me in a cage I’m gonna get in touch with my inner rage Rockstar’s got to get on that stage
It was just thrilling to think about! Especially consider an early iteration of how they were trying to give Emmett more to his character. The song is a banger but I do like what Chip does for the story more. that's all really
#I need to know what the Christian video you're mentioning is#Also link to “you're a rockstar lawyer girl” full song#And more thoughts plspls#I could read these all day#I love this#legally blonde the musical

Some thoughts about what I think the falsettos characters' favourite subjects are!!
Trina loves English lit. She loves reading and the fictional world. She uses it as a means of escapism. In breakfast over sugar, we see that she knows her marriage has failed, yet doesn't want to accept it and would rather delude herself into thinking it's okay and they'll cope. I feel she uses literature and fiction as a means of escape for this.
Marvin love maths (this isnt my original idea, it comes from a fic by 221Bowtie called Nausea Before The Game. I HIGHLY recommend it!!!!). Why? Because 1+1=2 and that's just the way it is. Nothing can or will ever change that. And Marvin uses this logic and applies it to life: men fall in love with women. Get married. Have kids. Have a good job and a big house. And thats simply the way it works. Anything else is wrong.
Side note, I also feel like Marvin is just naturally smart in maths and so so annoying about it. I feel like he's one of those, you say random big numbers and he'll give you the answer in seconds.🙄
The other characters are far less in depth 😭..
Jason loves science, just look at him
Mendel loves history, just look at him
Charlotte and cordelia are pretty much canon. Charlotte; biology (or some medical thingy idk, I'm certainly not a stem person) and cordelia; food tech (or whatever it's called in America, I think it's called home ed??? Idk)
Now, whizzer, I genuinely don't know. I mean photography is a popular headcanon so I guess that. I mean I can actually give a slight (very far fetched) analysis regarding that. Photography is taking smth and putting it in your own lense / view. Whizzer (at lest during the canon of the musical. We don't know about his childhood but I presume is was similar to marvins.) but during the musical, whizzer is very comfortable and confident in his sexuality. He didn't let the bigoted society of the time define or diminish him, he took that in his own lense (?) (I am literally making this up now while I type this so I don't know how coherent this is. The rest of this is pre-planned, now we're very much improvising..). I wanna make a point about whizzer being 'the other (wo)man'. Perhaps in a sense that photography is often overlooked at a subject??? I'm not sure I might edit this if I have some huge ideas.
