WIP whenever

I was tagged earlier by @mythals-whore & @captainmagpie-risha and had nothing ready, but I've been into my artist x muse au so here's what's brewing!

There was something different about this model.

Davrin's usual subjects were well known names, faces tired and stony as they posed for him. So far, what he'd seen hadn't impressed him, didn't quite fit the vision he had for this project. He'd scrapped most of the early sketches, thanked them for their time, and crossed their names off the list he'd been given by Varric.

This one, 'Rook' he had said to call him, was a new face to the agency but had come highly recommended by the dwarf. Davrin could see why he had been in high demand, the elf was beautiful to look at. Long, silvery-blonde hair, high cheekbones, captivating eyes that seemed to burn right through him.

It was going to be a interesting evening.

"Where do you want me?"

The studio is set up simply, stage and spotlight ready with simple furniture, the background mattered very little for the end project.

Davrin motions to the chaise lounge, "I think we'll start you here."

Rook walks towards it, fingers running along the velvet fabric as he takes in the stage, "What is this project of yours? Varric kept it… vague."

"A study of the body. My usual work involves beasts and monsters, but I'm… branching out."

"I see," he leans forward, hands resting against the desk Davrin was sitting at, a smirk settling across fine features, "I think you'll like studying me, then."

He winks.

I mean...yeah. I don't think she'd jump to hands the first time you piss her off.

That being said, she's certainly not against throwing hands. There is a threshold at which she'd launch herself over the table and just beat the shit out of someone.

I've been doing a lot of au writing recently, in the forms of Star Wars Au (pt. 1 & pt. 2 so far) as well as a slightly chaotic dream I had of Love Island AU

BUT it turns out AUs are good for the environment because I've also made more progress in my Davrook longfic, Hunting Days which is now up to Chapter 46 and should only have ~3 more to go. (so crazy)

Also good for the environment: Divine Rights which is my VG/HD prequel some information about it & yesterday's excerpt. I'll probably be posting more of this on Wednesday this week ;) my hope is that it turns into a Whole Thing eventually.

ALSO I do have some Cullavellan up on ao3 if anyone is interested in that. It's very much a slow burn and I know it doesn't have a lot of tags on it. I'll get to it eventually.

In conclusion, having side projects is good for the environment. Helps take the pressure off, and it's so much fun and also fanfic should be self indulgent and you should have as many fun side projects as you want <3

Shameless Self Promotion Sunday

I actually am feeling super productive right now and have things to show off.

First of all, I am very funny/dead inside at work and have been making text post memes while I sit on hold.

(I am posting the Rookanis one again because I said what I said. Also without therapy they make each other marginally worse.)

And! I just finished Grief: In Three Phases today!

It's been such a delightful labor of love because writing things that you feel proud of is just inherently going to be difficult, but Silvia has so many layers which were so fun to peel back. (She is also so in love with Davrin and so much of who she becomes, to her, feels so hinged on the good he sees in her. I have so many thoughts on this and will not yap on it here.)

But I finished it! Yay!

Now with one thing finished and one thing abandoned (it needs reworking to make it crunchier, uglier, and more fully realized tbh), I'm going to be working on a Davrook Modern AU long fic because after messy sad endings I think Davrin and Silvia deserve something nice.

I think as a culture we have all forgotten that fandom is supposed to be fun.

It’s not that serious.

It was never supposed to be that serious.

Especially since most of the drama and hurt revolves around shipping.

All of the ships are fictional. Being canon doesn’t actually negate the fact that the ship isn’t real. 

No ship, or any aspect of a fictional universe, is important enough to treat another real life human being badly. 

It’s not that serious.

Some Sentences Saturday

Thankyou @mythals-whore for the tag! Unfortunately, it's angst time in TUBC city....

As more days pass, Davrin sees less and less of Rook. Whenever he does, it’s either in passing as she rolls from one mission into the next, or late at night when she finally collapses into bed next to him. He starts to wonder when she eats, exactly, so he takes it upon himself to bring a plate of whatever was for dinner up to his room each night, keeping a close eye on Assan so he doesn’t touch it before Rook gets back. She’s still taking Emmrich’s remedies each and every morning and evening, dutifully going through her exercises. Davrin asks her, once, how her hand is doing – he only gets a shrug and a hastily muttered fine before she’s out the door, leaving him with nothing but unanswered questions and a quick kiss goodbye.
