Chapter 2
It had only been weeks since that heavy downpour, yet Geto couldn't get her out of his mind. He became a loyal customer to the diner, as if he wasn't one before but rather now to a certain waitress.
He can't remember when, she started sitting at his table during her break, during slow days curious about what he kept typing on and on on his laptop. He once said he kind of worked in a firm, -he did a few odd jobs considering his total memory loss and fortunately his previous self had some intuition to save money enough to live peacefully- He didn't say that long last part though.
He learnt her name, and that she worked in a small software company, but was here in the diner after her job, a side gig she has here she told chuckling quietly.
That's precisely when Geto slipped, absent minded "Have I met you before?" Why did he say that out loud? Why did he always have an odd feeling he knew her from before?
"Me?" She huffed, frowning slightly. "I don't think we have met before" she shook her head her nose scrunching in thought.
"Cause if I met a person like you, I don't think I'd forget" He smirked sly, the tip of his ears red celebration rolling in his head as he saved himself with that slip up.
She hid the lower half on her face with her hand, trying to look away from him nonchalantly "Cheesy~" he could see the mirth in her eyes when she looked back at him.
"Could I have a photo then?"
She leaned forward at his confusion, "so I don't forget this bright personality in front of me" extending her arm towards him phone in hand.
An easy grin took up his face as he accepted the request, fingers brushing "Won't it be more memorable if you were in it too?" He questioned and tried not to grin more when she got up from her seat to come over to his side of the booth.
Geto angled the phone so both were in the frame and snapped a picture.
"Why don't you leave your number as a gift, Geto-san"
"Sly girl" the audacity of this girl to turn the tables, not that he doesn't like it.
Her head perked up when someone called out her name, and he handed her phone back. "Well then, thanks" she smiled, a bit pink as she took off.
He saw her coworkers gather around her as soon as she reached the counter, gushing at her phone all rambling but she turned her head looking at him once again, smile still bright. Perhaps the feeling was mutual then.

Chapter 1
That day was like any other, if not for the pouring rain drenching him as he rushed into the doors of the familiar diner, it's sign pulsing in and out of life. Geto pushed back his wet hair sticking to his forehead, the dingy mood of his becoming better as the yellow orange-lights hanging by the entrance welcomed him.
"Geto-san!" The man at the counter called out to him.
"Mori-san, quite the rush huh?" Geto smiled as he walked to the counter.
"You can always pray for the rain to give you more customers" The man chuckled at his comment.
"Indeed. The usual then?" He offered along with a towel.
Geto took the towel, "Ah, thanks. The usual yes"
"I'll get it to you as fast as I can-" Mori strained his neck to look past Geto. "-I see your table just got empty, right on time." He patted Geto on the back, rushing him off so he could attend to more customers.
Geto settled into the booth, in the edge of the diner next to the window watching people standing under shop roofs to escape the rain, some running in the rain with umbrellas and some without. He dried his hair with the towel, loosening the bun on his head.
The rain reminded him of something he wasn't sure of. In fact many things reminded him of things he couldn't remember, a distant memory of a life he once lived.
Ending up in a hospital in the suburbs with no memory of how he got there, or who he was. What identified him was a drivers license which was on him. Pity, all of his identity was based on that single thing.
Geto had moved away from that place, it was just so creepy there, to live in a place where he supposedly lived but had no memory of.
A plate being placed in front of him snapped him from reverie.
"Your order" A smooth voice called out, a small smile on her lips.
"Thanks" Geto cleared his throat which was suddenly very dry.
"Enjoy your meal sir" Then she was gone in a breeze.
That......that was the beginning of something Geto was excited for in his utterly boring mundane life.
~`•••••
The phone kept on ringing, vibrating on the bedside table. You sighed at it, just fresh out of a shower, picking it up as you sit in your bed.
"Hello, I'm-" the voice on the other side cut off, the call ending as you tightly closed your eyes. 'How on earth did they get your number?'
The phone rang again, illuminating your face in the dark, once, twice, the phone ringing stopped as you swiped up on the accept icon.
"Don't cut the call" the voice on the other side spoke rushed, to get it all in before you cut the call again. You stayed silent not responding back.
"I have something for you" the voice tested your patience with every word.
"Whatever you have to offer doesn't entice me anymore" You spoke to the voice for the first time.
There was a ping as something was sent to your phone. You clicked on the notification as the voice continued, "You will certainly find this enticing~"
"Hmm" you hummed as you cut the call, a smile on your face. 'Very enticing indeed'

chapter 2
summary: Does past define someone, or perhaps what they were born as? Everyone looked at Alina Starkov as if she was the answer to all their questions. But Alina felt that Kyra Kozlov was the answer to all her problems. Kyra was a mystery, a powerful Grisha, and somehow she started to be the sun summoner's home too.
Alina’s presence at the little palace was unexpected. No one ever thought the sun summoner might be real. Now that she was real and in the flesh present in the little palace, everyone was expecting so much from her.
Alina felt suffocated, she felt inhumane, and she didn’t know what she was anymore. She kept it all bottled - that was one of the rules she had learnt, never cry in front of others.
It had been a few weeks since she had arrived, locked like a prisoner. She loved the luxury, warm baths, velvet robes, her room, saints there were even warming stones in her bed! It’s not like she is taking these for granted, she just felt alone; people talked to her but it was only to the sun summoner or Miss Starkov, not Alina.
‘She was going to save Ravka, she was going to save the Grisha’ many told her; But coming out of Baghra’s hut, she utterly felt like an imposter, a fraud. She could only barely summon, wisps of light before they would fade away. Baghra had sent her out, saying she couldn't work with her and dejected she was wandering by the lake looking at tide makers and some squallers practising.
Her eyes scanned the area, hoping to catch sight of someone she knew. To her surprise, she spotted the person she saw in the library a few nights ago. She must have been taking rest cause Alina couldn’t see Kyra summoning like the others.
Alina had been hoping to meet Kyra again, but she didn’t know how to approach remembering her dramatic exit that night so she kept to her watching seeing Kyra’s tall frame move across to help someone in summoning, her dark hair braided neatly.
She kept watching as an oprichniki came closer to Kyra, they seemed to be exchanging some words and then Kyra proceeded to follow the soldier walking out of Alina’s sight.
Alina stayed there for a while, then remembered that Marie and Nadia wanted to meet her after Baghra’s lesson. They didn’t tell her where to meet…
Sighing she wandered the hallways, hoping to spot one of her friends near the golden-domed hall.
“Alina!” ah, they found her instead.
“Where did you disappear off to?”
“We couldn’t find you in the garden!”
Rushing to her, they interlinked her arms pulling her towards the gardens. “You didn’t tell me where to meet you”
Marie paused a moment, “We didn’t?” To which Alina shook her head and Nadia cringed.
Alina laughed it off “Well, let me get a book from my room-” turning towards the direction of her room.
“-And then get me out of here!” pulling them both to walk faster.
Alina ran her fingers along the spines of the books neatly lined on the shelf. It had been sudden, but Nadia and Marie brought up the topic of someone named Kozlov and that happens to be the reason Alina found herself in the library again. She wanted to know more; not the tales her friends told, but rather from the person herself who seems to be portrayed as some kind of myth even.
She even asked Genya about it, to make sure Nadia and Marie weren’t blabbering some nonsense about the grisha; But all that Genya said only proved her assumption of nonsense to be utterly wrong. One thing Genya said stood out, Kyra came to the little palace much later than others, she didn’t grow up here. That made some part of her want to be friends with Kyra, only for that sole reason.
“Well, hello again” the voice made her jump, as Alina blinked to get out of her thoughts and face the visitor.
“Kyra, uh, hi. I didn’t expect you here” What a wonderfully calculated lie
Kyra just showed a hint of a smile and walked towards Alina, what? And passed her to reach a shelf and place the book she had in her hand back in its respective place.
“Are you here to read something or escape someone?”Kyra asked nonchalantly, making herself comfortable by leaning against a desk nearby.
Alina turned to face her again, “I’m here to read, why is that a question?”
She tilted her head slightly, clearly amused with Alina “I don’t spot a book you seem to be reading nearby, and you were just standing there, staring at the shelf. It looked like you were pretty frustrated about something or someone”
Why didn’t she think this through, she doesn’t- wait, how long was Kyra in the room then? “I-I... I was-”
“You don’t have to tell me anything” softness seeping into Kyra’s voice.
“Then why ask, if you knew?” Alina sighed, seeing Kyra shrug her shoulders and start to trace the craving lining the desk, opting to stay silent.
Alina observed her, seeing Kyra’s eyes move away from her and towards the desk, why does it have to be so hard to keep a conversation going? She mimicked Kyra’s stance leaning against the bookshelf opposite the desk.
“How was it when you first came here?” Alina’s voice a bit high. The question made Kyra freeze for a moment, hands pausing as her brows slightly crinkled together.
“Grisha do love gossiping, hm” Alina felt a slight shiver at that, Kyra’s eyes looked up at her, expression calm, almost serene but her words were lined with bitterness. It was indirectly meant for her, or was it direct?
“I didn’t get along with people,” she took a deep breath “So they came up with absurd reasons on why, as if they were detectives.” She finished her sentence crossing her arms.
“Now, where are you from?”
Alina didn’t expect an answer or rather a question along with it in return. It clearly wasn’t going the way she thought but hey, they were having a conversation.
“Keramzin. How about you?” Getting a tiny boost in confidence and offering a smile at Kyra who seemed rather aloof with the whole ordeal.
“Ulensk”
Ulensk? The place is awfully near to the Fjerdan border. No wonder her abilities were found very late.
“We were supposed to go there, our unit.” Not into the fold.
“If your unit hadn’t ventured the fold, Ravka would have never found its sun summoner” Kyra spoke out the words Alina had been thinking, making the latter wonder if mind-reading was possible.
Silence encased after that until Alina broke it, very sceptical with her question. “Do you- Do you ever wish things turn out differently?”
“We can’t change that, we just go along with it. Mucking up the sorrows of a lost life. Consider it a gift or a curse; it is a part of you” a pause, one second, two. Pushing off the desk and stepping a bit closer.
“I never wanted any of this, Alina” Voice going soft as Kyra pronounces her name.
“But I was not going to let people push me over to do their bidding just because I was in a place I had no desire to be”
Alina started at the eyes, entirely fixed on her. They were the darkest brown, practically black; something flickering in them that Alina couldn’t comprehend. One thing Alina was sure of, Kyra understood what Alina was feeling.
“Well then, I must bid you a good evening. I have work to do” Her tone was a bit cheery as if they weren’t discussing about existential crisis.
Kyra walked towards the exit of the library before Alina could respond only to pause near the door.
“You don’t have a choice on where you end up, But I believe you have a choice to enjoy it or wallow in misery” Kyra didn’t turn.
“I carved my way out of here, Alina” Her words flowed as Alina watched Kyra disappear from her sight.
Despite the indifference in behaviour, Kyra saw her, not as the sun summoner or Miss Starkov but as Alina.

chapter 1
Summary: Does past define someone, or perhaps what they were born as? Everyone looked at Alina Starkov as if she was the answer to all their questions. But Alina felt that Kyra Kozlov was the answer to all her problems. Kyra was a mystery, a powerful Grisha, and somehow she started to be the sun summoner's home too.
Kyra always heard whispers but for once they weren't about her presence; the grisha had found a new topic to talk about; the hallways were flooded with talks of a summoner who could call the sun.
Kyra yet hadn't met the summoner, but felt pity for the girl knowing how pestering grisha can be if they wanted to be. Maybe that's why she opted to serve at the country's borders away from the little palace.
She had arrived at the little palace only days before the sun summoner; and though it had been only two weeks she already wanted to leave the little palace. She wasn't close with many grisha and the ones she knew were either in the front lines or in the darkling's inner circle. She kept her distance from the latter, having enough of political matters.
Usually she would be by the lake, teaching and supervising the training tidemakers or in her room sitting at her desk with piles of paper. Yes, she had declared she hated political matters but being a grisha of her rank, she had no choice but to manage the issues in the borders. Hey, at least they were far better than the atrocious things the king's advisers suggest the general.
A book was open in her lap, the words glaring at her for her attention but her focus was on touching the edges of the book lost deep in thought. She had been sitting like that for a long time since she had wandered the halls and settled in the library after dinner. The footfalls of someone and a soft hushed voice got her to glance up from the book. Turning to look she figured it was someone behind the bookshelf possibly searching for a book.
Indulging into the book again she failed to sooth the glare the words had set upon her; she got up to leave placing the book on the bookshelf where it belongs. Rounding the corner of the bookshelf she spotted the person she heard before, it was a girl and by the colour of her kefta she was an etherealki.
The girl muttered something under her breath when she couldn't reach the book on the shelf, pulling her hands down she moved away from the shelf not yet noticing Kyra standing. When the girl disappeared from Kyra's sight she moved towards the book the etherealki was trying to reach and grabbed it with much ease spying at the cover; it was a book about ravkan folklore. Hearing a thud Kyra saw the girl again now with a stool by her feet a defeated look on her face. It took a moment for Kyra to realise what the girl must have thought, she took her book.
Kyra smiled stepping towards the girl extending the book towards her. The girl eyed it for a moment a took it, giving a slight nod.
"Ravkan folklore?" Kyra offered to the girl who looked increasingly uncomfortable. really? ravkan folklore?
"Something wrong with it?" Dark brown eyes stared up at her. Kyra now took notice of the embroidery in the girl's kefta- Saints, this was the sun summoner.
"No, there's nothing wrong with it. It is good book, a lot of illustrations;" pointing towards the book, " A lot of hidden meaning are expressed beautifully in the illustrations."
The girl hummed, she looked pretty relaxed now but there was a bit of stiffness in her shoulders as if she were alert for some danger. Kyra lifted her hands, as if in surrender "Relax, I'm not going to bite you;" her words ending with a chuckle, "I'm Kyra Kozlov, if you're up for introductions?" Kyra offered her hand forward.
"Alina Starkov" the girl accepted Kyra's hand, a truce of sorts to whatever was going on. Alina shrugged her shoulders, "I-I just didn't realise anyone was in the library other then me" She slightly tilted her head, smiling.
"Well I apologise then, I didn't expect anyone to be in the library at this hour either; grisha usually don't linger by the library after dinner" Kyra moved away from Alina reaching for another book on the shelf. "This one, Miss Starkov;" She tapped at the worn cover, "Is also really good. Similar genre"
Alina reached forward, running her fingers over the cover. "Thanks Miss Kozlov, I sure will read it" looking up at Kyra, she gently took the book from her hands. "It's alright, and Kyra is enough" Kyra's eyes followed her hands watching the gold threads by her kefta's reflect the soft light.
"Only if you call me Alina, Kyra" she shifted her arms positioning the two books more comfortable, raising her eyebrow
"Then as you wish, Alina" Kyra whispered leaning against the shelf, drawling her name.
Alina felt heat creeping up her neck at that, huffing a small laugh,"I- better get going. Good night Kyra" Alina muttered, nodding towards the library doors and kind of hurrying towards it.
"Sweet dreams then!" Kyra called after the girl. Well she met the sun summoner. Kyra's eyes moved to the window, it wasn't that late and she nothing to do. Why not have an early night as well?

SANKTA MASTERLIST
An enigma she was; Kyra Kozlov was know as the siren. A tidemaker who had her way around people with her mesmerising words.
The sea seems to embrace the sun as it sets, but in truth the sea can never feel the sun's warmth.
Kyra wanted to do something the sea couldn't; She wanted to swallow the sun, swallow her whole and keep her safe from the dark which seeks to extinguish the golden light. Kyra would let her sun boil the water, the flames to be ablaze in the deep sea with her siren voice as fuel.
But the sea knew she couldn't do it, cause she was afraid she would be her sun's doom.
