[[ Boring update!

Still lots to be done on my house, but I’m sleeping in it and should have a proper bedroom within a week or two, so I’m going to look into getting a proper internet service installed soon.

I will be moving N to a fresh blog. I’ll be keeping this url (theoretically) and this one will revert back to n-plus-1 and become an archive. I’ll link to the new blog when it’s a bit more put-together.

He wasn't going to look this year. It was practical, he told himself: after five years of looking, a sixth wasn't going to make a difference. The reasoning had always been poor: what would bring them to Nimbasa on this day above others? Simply because so many Unovans streamed to the city on this particular summer's day was no reason to think that they would come, too. Besides, with such a comparatively high density of humans, finding a specific individual was only more difficult than usual.

But really, he didn't have the energy. Not for the crowds or the bright lights, or the over-amplified music, or the shouting children running past. Certainly not for the fireworks, which he never seemed to escape quickly enough, and the fears of a city full of house-bound pokémon battering into his head.

And he didn't have the energy to look--or, rather, to look and inevitably fail to find them. Still. Again. Hope could only prevail so long in the face of contrary data.

This year, he'd stay in the woods, far enough away from the human cities that their fireworks would be miles in the distance and their blasts wouldn't reverberate through his bones. And if they did come this year, and he missed them ... at least he wouldn't know how close he might have come.

Update!

I’m still buried in work on my house (along with regular they-pay-me-to-do-this work). Slow progress is happening? I’ve been camping out at the house for a couple weeks now, which makes getting things done in the evenings more convenient, even if I’m desperately wanting a proper bed. (And a proper internet connection. Gotta look into that again ...)

There are still a couple big projects left, so I have no idea when I’ll be able to move in properly or feel like I have time to be around Tumblr again. Maybe once I’ve got the bedroom finished and can actually sleep in the house. I miss being here!

Above, about a year ago, after tearing out two walls and a faulty staircase and rebuilding another wall and staircase. Below, a photo from last week. Still need to finish the stairs and stain/varnish the floors, then put in baseboard trim. Then the room is mostly done.

Tansy Harmonia

Tansy Harmonia was an empath, naturally able to feel and understand the emotions of both humans and pokémon. It was both a gift and a curse; she had a difficult time closing her mind to those of others, and strong emotions could often overwhelm her. Even so, she was irrepressibly cheerful. She was tall, willowy, with a golden mess of frizzy hair that refused to stay tied down. She’d often force it into a chunky braid, but strands invariably snuck out from the twists and floated around her head in a sunny halo. She refused to wear shoes unless absolutely necessary, and she loved long, light skirts that tickled her ankles and collected mud a good seven inches past the hemlines.
