This volcano in Indonesia produces blue lava. This is caused by the combustion of sulphuric gasses at very high temperatures.

marcel duchamp's fountain and dadaism in general has never sat quite right with me. i think it's one of those things where, just because it has an idea, and because you understand what the idea is, that doesn't make it good. you like it *in theory*, but liking something *in theory* is another thing. art that relies on context, art that's ONLY conceptual is not art. the artist's job being to think rather than to engage with any medium is not the move. art with the labor behind its creation outsourced, or art that demands little to no physicality from the artist, is not likely to be art. art as a response to war--how can we make art when there is so much suffering? art as nonsense in response to the cold logic and reason that fuels war (though this is only one part of it). yes, there are ideas like these and others. big deal. it's not art. maybe a stunt. which is something--there's value in folly and in pattern-breaking discord. but it's not art. a lot of what we call art is not art. and calling it art has had disastrous effects.
