I see. I did not know just how far the trust between humans and Pokemon had grown over time! Thank you for your knowledge.
I wish to ask a question, if you are willing to answer. I have been wondering-- why do Pokemon allow themselves to be captured in Poke Balls? Being removed from their homes must be frightening. I also know that not all Pokemon have the same opinions, but I would appreciate your insight. Thank you for your consideration.
-@unown-acolyte
I am afraid that I cannot speak from personal experience, as I have not been caught. However, from what I have heard from other pokemon, it is a sign of trust more than anything. And although it becomes an issue if that trust should be broken, and plenty of young pokemon do not know what to be wary of, it is never forced unless you use that horror of a pokeball that I wish stays hard to access.

I see... It is upsetting that Pokemon can be abused so easily now. I cannot think of what it could be, but Pokemon must get something out of being captured, right? If they did not, I do not think they would allow it. Maybe I am too used to my old thoughts, but there is no way that a human settlement could survive an attack from many wild Pokemon at once.
There are Pokemon on this website that have learned to read and write, right? I will ask them their opinions.
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one misplaced in time. If you need assistance, it seems the human I'm currently staying with knows quite a lot about the modern world and is willing to answer anything on this device. I am also here for support.

If I remember correctly, Poke Balls were first invented for temporary captures in order to study Pokemon before releasing them. I do not know how they became so commonly used for permanent captures, but I can guess: in my experience from a time when Pokemon were often feared, It was not easy to befriend wild Pokemon, especially if other Pokemon were around-- predators can make a Pokemon panic, while other members of a Pokemon’s herd or flock might disapprove of interaction with humans. It is much easier to show a Pokemon you mean no harm in a safe and controlled environment. Of course, I might be wrong, especially since I imagine it would be very scary to suddenly be transported to an unfamiliar place.
Ah, by “overpowering” I meant beating a Pokemon in a fight. Almost any full-grown Pokemon could defeat even the strongest human in my time, but now, people have weapons that can give them a chance or even advantage. I did not know there were artificial ways to make a Pokemon stronger, but that is scary too!
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one misplaced in time. If you need assistance, it seems the human I'm currently staying with knows quite a lot about the modern world and is willing to answer anything on this device. I am also here for support.

I have heard legends about humans and Pokemon once being the same. I was never sure if I believed it, but if you are from that time, it must be true after all! I wonder what caused humans and Pokemon to become different?
I would not think it would be possible for a human to force a Pokemon to do something entirely against its will. As far as I know, when a Pokemon is caught in a Poke Ball, it does not lose its free will and could still attack the human who captured it if it chose to. Especially in this time, it seems that Pokemon are eager to help people.
Since I am in the care of some very knowledgeable people right now, I have asked them their thoughts on this, too. Apparently, most trainers-- that is what people who raise Pokemon are called-- are good friends with their Pokemon. Some bad people do control Pokemon with fear and force, but they are criminals who the police do their best to stop. It does scare me that people have developed ways to overpower Pokemon, though.
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one misplaced in time. If you need assistance, it seems the human I'm currently staying with knows quite a lot about the modern world and is willing to answer anything on this device. I am also here for support.

You do not remember? That is odd. Like you said, I only have a very general idea of the last thousand or so years of history, but I would still like to help you if I can, so ask me anything you like. I imagine you do not want to share any personal details if you are “in hiding”, so I will not ask.
I do not know when you are from, but do you know much about Pokemon battling? It seems to be treated as a game now. I am always afraid that the Pokemon will hurt each other or the people around them when I watch, but no one else seems to worry about that.
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one misplaced in time. If you need assistance, it seems the human I'm currently staying with knows quite a lot about the modern world and is willing to answer anything on this device. I am also here for support.

claw - what is the worst injury you have sustained from a pokémon? is it fully healed?
- @poke-trainer-kris
Though I have been injured badly in other ways, I have been lucky with Pokemon. The worst injury I ever got from one was from Kittycat, before we were good friends. When I tried to pick her up for the first time, she bit me on the wrist and damaged the tendons-- the doctor had to give me a brace to stop me from using that hand while I was recovering. Not being able to draw was frustrating. I was angry at Kittycat at first, but she tried very hard to help me with anything I would have needed my hand for afterwards. I think she still feels bad about it.
I have some faint scars, but I regained full use of my hand.

Hello again. I do not think it is likely that I did, but I hope that I did not worry anyone by disappearing. I am sorry if I did.
Anyways, I showed myself to the archaeologists studying Alph shortly after my last post. They were very kind to me and Kittycat! I have been fed well, and everyone was patient with us. I am even learning to speak modern Johtoan, so I am relying less and less on the Unown to communicate. I get the impression that the Unown are worried about me. I think I understand, since they have been watching over me for a very long time. This must be a big adjustment for them to make.
Speaking of adjustments, I keep discovering more and more features of my device as well as more and more pages on the internet. I have been told not to believe everything I read, but it is hard to know what is reliable. It is apparently also possible to shop through the internet and have things from all over the world delivered to you. In fact, I have chosen a set of traveling clothes that are expected to arrive within the next few days. I will have to figure out how to pay back the money I spent on them, but for now, I have been told that my very presence is bringing in “grant money” and that I do not need to worry. I do not completely understand the situation, but it seems to be good.
Kittycat wants to play now, so I will end this post. I did not need to say more anyway. Goodbye!

It is no problem! It seems important for me to share, since I do not want all my old friends to be forgotten. Yes, my tattoos are supposed to look like Unown. I do not think they spell anything in particular. Only their warden knew how to read their language, and I was not at that stage in my training when I fell asleep. Even the people who carved the walls of what are now the ruins may not have known how to read them, just copying the patterns the Unown arranged themselves into.
Honestly, the origins of every single Pokémon were mysterious to us. Some people thought that Pokémon had always existed and were a kind of counterbalance to human expansion, but some legends said that Pokémon and humans were once the same. I personally never really knew what to believe.
Do you have any recommendations on who to talk to if I want to start learning about modern Johto? And is there anyone I should avoid? I have heard that there are many “evil teams” causing havoc in different places.
Hello, Ede!
I spent a lot of my childhood and early teens running around the Alph ruins. You might recognize my dad who worked there a couple of years ago - Professor Selken, a thin bearded man with dark hair? What I want to say is that Alph has been a big part of my early life and that I admire your connection to the Unown. I was just wondering if you can or want to tell me anything about your life from when before you fell asleep
(@legendofzacian)
I am afraid I do not know your dad. I woke up recently and have avoided other people so far. As much as I want to know about the world as it is now, a part of me does not want to let go of the past, so I have left my chamber little and only at night so far. It is not easily accessible without teleporting, so I am not surprised that I have not been found.
Enough gloom, though! It does make me happy to learn that my home is still lived in in some way.
My life before was not the most exciting, but I did enjoy it. I was near the end of my training to be the Unown's new warden, which mostly involved keeping them entertained. They can be surprisingly silly! Although they can use telepathy to see the outside world, the Unown seemed to want my opinions on all kinds of things. They often asked me to draw things for them, especially faces of both people and Pokémon.

This is Kittycat!
The Rotom operating my new device is very helpful. They have been patient with me while I am learning how to use it and helped me take this picture. I would like to remind everyone to thank their Rotom!

@teamrocketblood : So...Do the Unown share anything interesting? Do tell?~
It depends on what you mean by interesting. While I was sleeping, they showed me visions of world-changing events, such as the inventions of the printing press and Poké Ball, but I imagine those are not the most interesting to someone who grew up with those technologies. That aside, even the Unown do not know everything.
Something that might be interesting to you is that Pokémon were somewhat different in my time, depending on the species. For example, I have noticed that modern Skitty have smaller claws and teeth than mine and are much more agreeable. The first few times Kittycat bit me, I bled a little bit-- she was used to playing with Pokémon and did not realize that I am more fragile. If you come to Alph, you can take a look at her for yourself!
Also, what is Team Rocket? I have heard them mentioned a few times. Not everyone's opinion is favorable, but I would like to hear from someone in the organization before I decide what to think.

Thank you. It is heartening to hear that you think highly of the world. I do think I will have to go get food soon. I have been able to forage near the ruins for berries and the like, but the bushes will not last forever.
The Celestica and my people were once the same, but we split well before I was born. One of the previous Unown wardens had a vision telling them to go to Hisui, or so the story goes, though they did not leave until they had trained a successor.
Being a warden is all about flexibility and being attuned to the needs of Pokémon. It’s very rare for someone to become a warden unwillingly, since hesitating around a strong Pokémon could very easily get you hurt or killed. Mostly, a warden’s duties are to keep their Pokémon happy so it doesn’t hurt anyone. Some wardens also harvest resources from Pokémon! For example, Sume, Ampharos’ warden, would also shear some wool from the Mareep Ampharos watched over. This is what she looked like, more or less:
Tumblr media
I do not know if the Celestica have a similar tradition, but our wardens would dress like the Pokémon they cared for as a sign of respect and willingness to learn about the Pokémon’s way of life. Some outfits would serve practical purposes, too. For example, in addition to keeping you warm, the Mareep wool Sume is wearing in my drawing can absorb and store a lot of electricity, which is useful if a Pokémon tries to shock you!
I hope I did not ramble too much.

Sinnoh? The name sounds familiar. I want to say that it is the name of a Pokémon, but I guess it is a place.
I hope you can reconcile with this person, or if not, that you can move on from the harm he did and find peace. Sometimes it is better to forget, I think.
always nice to meet someone else doing some blogging-Though I’ve never heard of someone with such a connection to the Unown! I’ve caught a few myself, one of each symbol down in Sinnoh And once during My-uh- ‘Faller’ days. (Long story)-anyway, good to meet you-Hope i See You around my own Little blog someday!

Caught? In a Poké Ball? Is that safe, for you or the Unown? I have always spoken to them as a collective, so I assumed that individuals would have difficulties if isolated. I hope they do not lash out at you!
That aside, it is also nice to meet you! You make it sound like you have been to many places. Is that true? I am very curious.

Strange places? They do like hiding in out-of-the-way crevices at times. I do not know why for sure, though I suspect that they are resting. Though Unown do not need a lot of sleep, it is important that sleeping Unown remain separate from their swarm! The way their minds are linked, one dreaming Unown may cause the entire swarm to use their power without meaning to, which is a danger to everyone.
I have heard of... three of those places. Johto is my home, and Kanto is not far. I do not know much of the people of Hisui, but we share ancestors, or so I’m told. Are the Celestica still around? It seems that my people are... not.
