by the way i currently have 985 notifications on artfight, and 1118 followers. like if you followed me and i didn't follow you back it's not because i didn't want to i probably didn't even see the notification or look at your profile (yet).

i have an admittedly insane working method of using my notifications page as a hit list where i just open random profiles, see if they're still following me, draw them something, and then follow them back afterwards. also means sometimes my friends turn out to be following me on artfight for years and i just didn't see bc i never opened their profile or recognized their username or just didn't notice. so like. literally just hmu instead of waiting for me to follow you back

Haaretz just revealed, based on conversations with soldiers, that commanders instructed them to fire at crowds near the GHF aid distribution centers to drive them away — even when it was clear the crowds posed no danger.

"It's a killing field," one soldier said. "Where I was stationed, between one and five people were killed every day. They're treated like a hostile force – no crowd-control measures, no tear gas – just live fire with everything imaginable: heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, mortars. Then, once the center opens, the shooting stops, and they know they can approach. Our form of communication is gunfire."

"Gaza doesn't interest anyone anymore," said a reservist who completed another round of duty in the northern Strip this week. "It's become a place with its own set of rules. The loss of human life means nothing. It's not even an 'unfortunate incident,' like they used to say."

An officer serving in the security detail of a distribution center described the IDF's approach as deeply flawed: "Working with a civilian population when your only means of interaction is opening fire – that's highly problematic, to say the least," he told Haaretz. "It's neither ethically nor morally acceptable for people to have to reach, or fail to reach, a [humanitarian zone] under tank fire, snipers and mortar shells."

We’ve been following the immense number of casualties and injuries around the GHF aid distribution centers and have heard the people on the ground reveal the horrors. But these Soldiers’ testimonies expose a policy of violence and a systematic disregard for civilian life. This piece is a must read.

i think another thing is that (and again: its totally fine even if you don't end up drawing at all) while it might feel like one or two drawings in a game isn't very much, and everyone around you is drawing sooo much more - you're not doing less or worse than others, either. there's significantly more people who do 0 - 2 drawings, or just sketches, than people who draw 100 polished pieces in a game. but the more someone draws, the more people will see that persons profile -> you end up being much more likely to see a bunch of artfight georgs while never encountering the vast majority of one piecers, and might end up with a skewed idea of how committed you've really got to be to participate. its just a game and you're not even dropping the ball or anything

on the topic of art fight tips my primary one is remember it is for fun.

that means there's no restriction on art quality. it means you can do as much or as little as you want. it means you can choose to only receive art or only give art. it means you can spectate and not do anything at all.

a lot of people burn themselves out each year trying to pass a standard that they feel there Should Be, but there isn't. you're allowed to just do the fun parts even if you feel like you "could" do more. you don't have a work obligation for drawing free stuff for people. it's literally fine. you can just enjoy it.

we're talking a lot about what's legal and not, and while it is important to point out that israel is breaking a lot of international laws and agreements every step of the way, please also use your own judgement alongside. even if they had the legal right to deny or prevent humanitarian aid (and so on), it would still be a bad thing to do it. there are many terrible, but legal things that happen in the world, so please don't treat laws and rules like they're the main reason something is wrong, or use them as a basis for your morals. decide those things for yourself, based on your own thought.
