🇬🇧⬇️ Nobody's perfect. Seht ihr das Feature? Von Weihnachten bis Anfang/ Mitte Februar habe ich drei Paar Hope Socks gestrickt. Begonnen habe ich mit einer grünen Socke für meine Zwergenfüße, um zu üben und ein Gefühl für das Jaquardmuster zu bekommen. Das hat überraschend gut geklappt und ich war wie im Rausch. Ruckzuck entstand dann das graue Paar in Größe 40/41als Motivationsgeschenk für eine Freundin, die im Februar einen neuen Job angefangen hat. Dann hab ich die maritime Version für die Lieblingskapitänin in 38 gestrickt. Alles ganz smooth und ohne Zwischenfälle. Blieb noch die zweite grüne Socke und da hab ich mich zum ersten Mal verstrickt. Vielleicht war ich etwas zu sicher... Nach einer Operation am offenen Strickstück ist ein Fehler im Muster dann doch dringeblieben, weil ich ihn erst sehr spät bemerkt hab. Und nun sind sie wunderschön und perfekt unperfekt. Wie wir alle. 🥰 --- Nobody's perfect. Can you spot the feature? Between Christmas and early/mid february, I knitted 3 pairs of Hope Socks, starting with one green sock for my tiny feet to practise and get a feel for the colourwork. After that, the grey socks in size 40/41 which were a motivational gift for a friend that started a new job in February knitted up really quickly. ThenI proceeded to the maritime version for my favourite captain. It all went smoothly and without any trouble. This left the second green sock and for the first time, I made a mistake. Maybe I was a little over-confident. After one open-sock surgery, one error in the jacquard pattern remained because I spotted it very late. And now they are gorgeous and perfectly imperfect. 🇬🇧⬇️ Wie gern würde ich mal mit meiner Lieblingskapitänin auf ihrem quietschgelben Kahn vor der Küste von Katalonien segeln, die Nase in den Wind halten und die salzige Luft genießen. 🌊 Leider wurden die Seefahrergene meines Uropas nicht an mich weitergegeben und ich werde bei der kleinsten Welle seekrank. Aber ich liebe das Meer und die Socken für die Kapitänin sorgen wieder für richtig viel Fernweh. 🥰 --- How I'd love to join my favourite captain on her bright yellow sailing boat off the Catalonian coast, feel the wind around my nose and enjoy the salty air. 🌊 Unfortunately, my greatgrandpa's seaman genes were not passed on to me and I get seasick when the tiniest of waves rocks the boat. 🇬🇧⬇️ Heute mal was Fachliches: Die Hope Socks sind tatsächlich das anspruchsvollsten Jaquardmuster, das ich bisher gestrickt habe. Und ich bin schon überrascht und ein bisschen stolz auf mich, wie gut es klappt. Als Grundfarbe habe ich ein Tweed-Garn mit bunten Akzenten verwendet, dessen Effekt ich mir aber etwas anders vorgestellt hatte. Teilweise sind die Sprenkel sehr locker und sehen eher aus wie bunte Fusseln... Am liebsten hätte ich etwas Gesprenkeltes mit Handfärbe-Charme gehabt, hatte aber kurz vor Weihnachten keine Zeit, groß zu suchen. Zudem mag ich wegen zwei Strängen auch eigentlich keine Bestellung aufgeben und mein innerer Geizkragen sträubt sich auch, so etwas Teures und Kostbares ausgerechnet für Socken zu verwenden, die in unseren Winterstiefeln doch ganz schön beansprucht werden. Wie sehr ihr das? Insgesamt "passt's aber schon", wie man hier sagt. 😁 --- Let's talk shop today: The Hope Socks are the most sophisticated colourwork pattern I have knitted so far. And I am quite surprised and pleased how well it's working out. For the main colour I chose a yarn with a colourful tweed effect that I had imagined a bit differently, to be honest. Sometimes the speckles are hardly attached to the main yarn and look more like lint... I'd have loved a beautiful hand-dyed effect, but with only a few days until Christmas I didn't have time to find something adequate. Also, I don't like placing an order for only two skeins and in general, my inner Scrooge doesn't like the idea of using something so costly and precious on socks that will be strained in our winter boots quite a lot. How do you see that? But overall, I'm happy with the result. 🇬🇧⬇️ Freundschaft. Das ist zusammen lachen, wandern, Eis essen. Es ist auch Tränen trocknen, nach der Trennung beim Umzug helfen, Stellenangebote weiterleiten. Manchmal ist es einfach nur da sein, zuhören, Tee nachschenken. Oder ein Paar Hope Socks schicken, auf denen die Katze schon ein paar Mal genächtigt hat... --- Friendship. That's laughing together, hiking, having icecream. It's also drying tears, helping with the post-breakup moving, forwarding job offers. 🇬🇧⬇️ Immer noch da, aber... Die letzten Wochen und Monate waren so kräftezehrend, dass ich das hier nicht noch on top machen konnte. Ich habe das Gefühl, es ist nur noch eine tapfer lächelnde Fassade von mir da. Innen ausgebrannt, zusammengekrümelt, leer. Ich hatte wenig Zeit und Energie für viele der Dinge, die ich liebe und als Ausgleich brauche: Stricken, Lesen, Nähen, Musik. Wird es besser? Hoffentlich. Ich muss wieder öfter die Reißleine ziehen, Nein sagen, vllt sogar schreien. The past weeks and months have been so draining that I couldn't do this on top of everything else. I feel like there is nothing left of me but a bravely smiling front. 🇬🇧⬇️ [Werbung wg Markennennung] Gut, wenn man auf Sleeve Island was zu Lesen dabei hat. Und das Setting passt weiterhin zu dieser tollen Farbe Zeder der Cheeky Merino Joy von @rosygreenwool ... "Ein Hummerleben" von Erik Fosnes Hansen war mal wieder ein Hausflurfund und ziemlich unterhaltsam. Kennt ihr diese Bücher, bei denen eigentlich schon klar ist, wie sie enden? Aber der Weg ist das Ziel und hat schließlich doch überrascht. Die meisten skandinavischen Bücher, die ich gelesen habe, haben irgendwie so eine Leichtigkeit und Umbeschwertheit in der Erzählweise... Findet ihr auch? Die Ärmel des Pullis Let It Fall von Matilda Kruse @organicknitters werden glatt links gestrickt. Weil bei mir die Übergänge bei linken Maschen immer irgendwie unschön werden, egal ob auf dem Nadelspiel oder mit Magic Loop, hab ich den Rat aus der Anleitung befolgt, das Ganze auf links gedreht und dann eben rechte Maschen gestrickt. Dabei auch gelernt, dass man nicht einfach mit der rechten Seite nach außen Maschen aufnehmen und dann den Pulli auf links drehen kann. Dann ist die Nadel falsch herum... ☝ --- It's good to bring a book to Sleeve Island. And the setting again matches the wonderful colour Cedar of the Cheeky Merino Joy yarn by @rosygreenwool ... I found "Hummerliv" by Erik Fosnes Hansen in the hallway (Some neighbours leave stuff they don't need anymore there for whomever to take, retreiving it after a while it if no one wants it). Do you know these books where you already know how they will (probably) end? However, the jorney is the important part, and there are a few surprises after all. Almost all the Scandinavian books I've read have a certain easiness in their narrative style. Do you think so, too? The sleeves of the Let It Fall sweater are knitted in reverse stockinette stitch which I did turning the jumper wrong side out to avoid weird bumps in my purl stitches where you change needles. I learned: You can't pick up stitches on the right side and then turn the piece inside out. 🇬🇧⬇️ [Werbung wg Markennennung, selbstgekauft] Puh, mich hat's gestern ein bisschen zusammengekrümelt. Zu viele Punkte auf der To-Do-Liste, schätze ich, da macht mein Immunsystem schlapp. Ich muss jetzt einfach mal wieder einen Gang zurückschalten, den Kaffee wirklich genießen, bisschen Musik auflegen, tief durchatmen. Trotzdem hab ich's geschafft, die Hazel Socks für den #machdasufofertigfal vom @frickelcast fertig zu machen. Ich hab beschlossen, sie nicht zu spannen, weil ich das Gefühl so schön finde, wenn sich der kuschelige Alpaka-Mix ganz eng an meine Füße schmiegt. Vielleicht schreib ich morgen einen kleinen Blogpost dazu. Aber nur, wenn ich wirklich mag. Ohne Druck, zur Abwechslung. --- Ooff, since yesterday I feel quite under the wheather. Too much on my to-do list, I suppose. That makes my immune system go on strike after a while. I need to kick back a bit, really enjoy my coffee, put on some music, breath deeply. Still, I managed to finish my Hazel socks for the Frickelcast challenge. I've decided not to block them because I love the feeling of the cosy alpaca Mix really snug against my feet. Sie passt einfach perfekt auf meinen Entenfuß und ich bin schwer begeistert. Das gibt kein 2nd sock syndrome! Zu lesen gibt's "Die Welt ohne uns" von Alan Weisman. Sicher bei einigen wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnissen schon nicht mehr ganz auf dem neuesten Stand, aber megaspannend! Was würde passieren, wenn die Menschheit von jetzt auf gleich verschwindet, und warum? --- I'm on a good track to finish at least the knitting project for the challenge: one of my #hazelsocks by @ducathi1 is ready. It fits my duck feet perfectly, and I am very happy. There will be no 2nd sock syndrome! The current read is "The world without us" by Alan Weisman. 🇬🇧⬇️ [Werbung wg Markennennung, selbstgekauft] Nach dem Booster am Freitag bin ich noch etwas schlapp, deswegen gibt es heute keine Nähmaschine. Aber ein UFO für den #machdasufofertigfal vom @frickelcast hab ich natürlich noch in meiner Schublade gefunden: Die #hazelsocks von @ducathi1. Damals bin ich leider nicht groß über den Anschlag hinausgekommen, aber gerade sehr motiviert, meine ersten Toe-up-Socken zu stricken. Auch, weil Emilie von Lehandmade ihre tollen gehäkelten Kniestrümpfe gezeigt hat. 🥰 Zu Lesen gibt's hier gerade nur seichtere Sachen, einen Krimiklassiker von James Patterson. Bald ist mein Kopf hoffentlich wieder bereit für etwas mit "mehr Substanz". --- After the booster vaccine on Friday, I'm still a bit tired, so no sewing today. But I found another UFO for the finishing challenge of the girls from Frickelcast: the lovely Hazel socks vy Ducathi. Back then I managed hardly more than the cast-on, but I'm very motivated right now to knit my first toe-up socks. Also because Emilie @lehandmade showed her amazing crochet stockings this week. 🥰 At the moment, there is only light reading: a classic thriller by James Patterson.
