i honestly wasn't into hashida when i first watched the series but now im reading the manga and i get it now- a lot of characters i previously didnt care about are coming into light and i couldnt be happier piecing them together like a puzzle

the story about Sae-chan and her parents was heartbreaking, her father's callousness was incredibly accurate. its clear that her parents enrolled her into these different classes in order to have their child prodigy. theres no consideration for her feelings whether she enjoys it or not, it's all about being above everyone else even at her own expense, and watching her confidence break down as she talked about how jealous and inferior she felt was *intense,* especially for a child. it's not far off from younger artists who believe skill comes before everything because of the constant criticism and bullying they receive from peers/adults who have a shallow understanding of art
