Hey, do you ever get completely sucked into a documentary? Not just the facts and figures, but the people behind the story? That's the magic, right? We're not just learning information, we're connecting with real lives, real struggles, and real triumphs. That's what I love about documentaries – they're like a window into someone else's world, a chance to walk a mile in their shoes. And honestly, in a world that can feel pretty disconnected, those human stories are more important than ever. Let's dive into why these stories grab us, and why they matter.

First, let's talk about resilience. We all know life throws curveballs, right? But what happens when those curveballs seem relentless? That's what grabbed me about making this documentary entitled “Aruga”. It tells the incredibly moving story of Jennica Pearl Blanca, a 25-year-old in San Isidro who embodies resilience. Facing a broken home, the loss of her parents, and a difficult stepmother, Jennica juggles work, studies, and caring for her siblings. When she reaches a breaking point, she finds unexpected refuge and support from her employers, who welcome her like family. Even as she navigates grief and takes on more responsibilities, including caring for her employer's ailing mother, she perseveres. With their help, she balances work and school, pursuing her dreams in Hospitality Management. This documentary is a testament to the power of human kindness and the unwavering strength of the human spirit, showcasing how Jennica transforms hardship into hope and creates a life built on care and resilience.

It's not just about surviving hardship, it's about the incredible human capacity to bounce back, to find strength where you thought there was none.

Second, and lastly… a success story documentary

Notes to Success is a documentary that tells stories of Wiljanz and Lyka on how they started being music group fans and how they inspired and helped them get through life. For instance, Wiljanz started being a fan of J-POP and because of that, it helped him get through with life despite the mental illnesses he experienced, and fortunately, had the chance of getting a job as a talent manager, which led him in meeting these idols up-close,getting to travel anywhere, discover his talent and met his friends of 10 years.

Lyka started her journey when she was in High School and from that day on, she never stopped listening to K-pop and to One Direction. Years later she got curious about how to organize an event, how to do this or that, and that's where her events organizer journey started. As days go on, she finds it really stressful yet fulfilling organizing events for fans like her, which made her feel confident in her own way. 

"Notes to Success" isn't just another music documentary; it's a heartfelt symphony of passion, persistence, and the power of fandom. It dives deep into the lives of individuals who transformed their love for music into thriving careers within the industry. 

What's truly captivating is how these individuals leveraged their genuine fandom. They didn't just admire from afar; they immersed themselves, built connections, and proved their dedication. Whether it was running fan blogs, volunteering at local fan events, or relentlessly networking, their passion was their resume.

What I think the favorite artists/bands of the L&DS men would be (+ their fav song from each artist!)

My first time writing for my fav guys! I mostly went off of vibes for the artists & songs, but I did try to choose a few based off of lore!

➵ Starset -- Ah yes, my favorite space-themed cinematic rock band! Really, though, I don't think rock music is his preferred genre but I DO think he'd make an exception for Starset. Favorite Song -- Starlight. Hands down! There's many different songs that he'd love but this one would be his favorite because he would absolutely dedicate it to MC. The whole chorus is just. Amazing. "I don't know what to say / But I'm going to want you till the stars evaporate / We're only here for just a moment in the light / One day it shines for us the next we're in the night / So say the word and I'll be running back to find you / A thousand armies won't stop me I'll break through / I'll soar the endless skies for only one sight / Of your starlight" & "Light years between you and me, I'm fading your beauty conquers the darkness" -- If you try telling me this song isn't him and MC to a T I will fight you! Good God, somebody PLEASE make an edit of him to this song I am on my knees begging.

➵ Fleetwood Mac -- Xav has taste. He'd be big into 60's/70's music & Fleetwood Mac just so happens to be his favorite artist from those decades. Favorite Song -- Rhiannon. I think originally his favorite song would be Dreams, but after he listens to Rhiannon it'd change QUICK. Personally I love both, but Rhiannon is so, "drive at sunset in the summer with the windows rolled down" coded. I can say this because I've done it. Many times.

➵ The Weeknd -- Xav is our favorite Starboy, Abel has an album called Starboy... This was a no-brainer for me, honestly. Favorite Song -- Die For You. He's listening to this crying, 110%.

➵ Billie Joel -- Zayne strikes me as more of a chill vibes music type of guy. He'd be playing Billie Joel in the operating room on a loop. The other surgeons would get so sick of it but he would NOT care!! Favorite Song -- Vienna. I can't get the image of him & MC at home after a long day, cooking dinner together, and this song starts playing. He whisks her away into the living room to start slow dancing and serenading her. I'm melting rn.

➵ ZAYN -- They share a name! I actually think that's what piqued his interest in the first place tbh. Really, though, Zayne would be an R&B fan overall. Favorite Song -- Insomnia.

➵ Beyonce -- I said he's an R&B fan. I know Beyonce makes more than R&B, of course. Also, imagining Zayne listening to Queen Bey while working in his office is a beautiful mental image. Favorite Song -- Haunted. "I know if I'm hauntin' you, you must be hauntin' me" Zayne's mind is rarely not on MC I can tell you that much! This is another song he plays when MC is around.

➵ Fish in a Birdcage -- He's really into the instrumentals! For sure listening to them while he's painting, or listening while he's thinking and sulking by himself. Favorite Song -- Rule #27 - Drunk on Pride. I shouldn't say it, but I'm gonna! This song reminds him of Lemuria in a way. The song tells a story of a crew at sea having their ship sunk after their captain made bad decisions. C'mon. Runner up song: Rule #28 - Sand.

➵ Billie Eilish -- I CANNOT be the only person who thinks that Billie makes music for sirens. Her voice is so ethereal in so many of her songs & I WILL NOT take HMHAS off of my playlist. Favorite Song -- Birds Of A Feather. It's his fav because MC dedicated it to him.

➵ Hozier -- This man IS a Hozier fan. Favorite Song -- Francesca. Go read the lyrics. They are literally written for him. You cannot listen to Hozier croon, "I would still be surprised I could find you, darlin', in any life" and tell me this song is not for him.

➵ Ghost -- Sylus strikes me as the type of guy who'd love classic rock, and Ghost embodies similar vibes in their music. Do not tell me this man isn't pulling up on a Harley while Ghost's discography is blaring from the speakers. Favorite Song -- Mary On A Cross. I know this song is popular on Tiktok, I get that! I promise I'm trying not to pick each artist's most popular song, but this song is what inspired me to make this post in the first place. So, I think it'd be the song he heard that introduced him to Ghost in the first place.

➵ Sleep Token -- Fan service for myself! Truly, though, I think Sylus first listened to Ghost & fell down a hole for groups of musicians who wear masks. I think he'd love the lore behind Sleep Token just as much as the songs themselves. Favorite Song -- Okay, this was a toss up between Sugar, Atlantic, Alkaline, Rain, and Ascensionism. Ultimately, I landed on Rain because of the lyrics. "But I finally think I can say that the vicious cycle was over / The moment you smiled at me" !! "I'm coiled up like the venomous serpent tangled in your trance / And I'm certain you have got your hooks in me" !!!!!! "And I know, I know I am what I am / The mouth of the wolf, the eyes of the lamb" !!!!!!!!!! Bro is in love. Safe to say, I am deceased!

➵ Chase Atlantic -- This is also fan service for myself. I feel Chase Atlantic would be the music he listens to when he’s out on a leisure night drive through the N109 zone. You CANNOT tell me that Chase Atlantic is not the absolute best night driving music. Favorite Song -- Moonlight. "And I just want it all when the time's right" Uhm yes hello!! At symbol MC. He'd wait for us forever and I love that for us!!

jeong guwon from my demon - similar to sunjae, guwon is also another loser for his wife. (tbh i can imagine rafayel as a down bad simp for his lover; cue thomas sighing and shaking his head.) i can picture rafayel in the scene whereby guwon and dohee were doing that tango while fighting off their enemies too?!?!

lee yeon from tale of the nine-tailed - continuing the loser boy train, we have yeon as the final dude to add in this group. (specifically yeon from s2, bc the way he wanted to go back to his timeline so badly to see jiah matches rafayel's "the only person i'll ever love is my lover" energy.) their backstories also match in the sense that yeon never stopped searching for jiah and rafayel never stopped waiting for his bride.

myulmang from doom at your service - not me choosing myulmang bc they both made contracts to their beloveds [clown emoji]. but nonetheless they're similar in the sense that they won't think twice about eliminating someone who hurts their lover.

shin wooyeo from my roommate is a gumiho - again, another contract situation. wooyeo is a "classier" version of sylus imo, and one who uses less pet names. if sylus were the ml in this kdrama, he would defo keep an even more watchful eye on his beloved so that she doesn't go about losing his fox bead. (aur naur iw to write a gumiho au for sylus now...)

lee youngjoon from what's wrong with secretary kim? - similar to youngjoon, sylus will never let his lover leave. they want to leave his mansion? he will try 101 (legal) ways to make them stay. they will find snacks they like in their room more often. they will find new (and expensive) clothes in their wardrobe. heck, even an all-expenses-paid vacation! he wants to keep them close to him; he's afraid of them upping him to leave.

goo yeonjun from a time called you - like yeonjun, xavier has literally went back in time to save his beloved. he wants to see then safe and sound, and as long as they're happy, he's happy. as long as they're alive and breathing, he's fine with not being by their side. just watching them live their life is enough for him.

haru from extraordinary you - totally not projecting my all-time fav kdrama on him (or am i?) but xavier and haru have similar mannerisms and personality traits. yk how in the first few episodes danoh was dragging haru around and this guy just remained silent and followed along until one day he just started speaking? yeah that's the same with this guy. the person he likes could yap all day and he would willingly sit and listen.

moon seoha from see you in my 19th life - similar to seoha, xavier loves once in his life and he will only ever love his little star. he would never get over their death and if he's the one responsible for their death, he would be all the more upset with himself. he would throw himself into work all day and refuse to love again, thinking he shouldn't be able to fall in love ever again since he took his beloved's one chance of staying alive and happy away.

moon suho from black knight - they're both so overprotective of the one they love. the way suho essentially told sharon that haera is the only woman he would ever love is something i can picture zayne doing. if someone is out there trying to harm his beloved, you'd best believe zayne would do his best to prevent that from happening, even if it means giving up his own life.

lee suhyeok from bora! deborah - when zayne loves, he loves hard. like suhyeok, he's clumsy at expressing his affections, choosing to keep everything to himself and wait until he's 100% certain it's the right time to say whatever he wants to say. and sometimes, that can lead to disastrous endings (see also: suhyeok getting dumped on the same day he went to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend). both men are careful to a fault, all the more so with their beloved because they're scared of losing someone precious to them again.

yoo jihyuk from marry my husband - zayne, like jihyuk, would willingly stand aside and watch the one he loves fall in love with someone else. he would be supportive and wouldn't try to fight for their affection. his motto is "if they're happy, i'm happy" and he can live being an unmarried old man as long as he sees them happy.

Zayne:

Just because you're an idol does not mean he's not your doctor. He STILL is and he insisted that it's beneficial for you that he's your doctor. And who are you to complain? Nobody knows that you two are dating so you keep your relationship private so no one can disturb your personal lives. He also just doesn't want to be in the spotlight in general.

He'll support you in any way he can. He's not really the type to go to concerts but for you he will. He'll even have his light stick and memorize the fan chants to your songs. If he can't attend your concerts because of work then he'll make sure to stream the live version ones.
