Mikannie Week - Day 5 - Excavated
Mikasa signaled the machine operator to continue lifting and watched as the large blue ice crystal was raised from the ground.
They had been excavating for almost a year after finding the girl frozen in ice.  Almost a year of carefully chipping away packed snow and weaker ice in sub zero temperatures just to free the specimen from the glacier.
Mikasa hadn’t anticipated finding something like this when she’d applied for her grant.  She had thought to uncover more fossils or maybe discover a new species, not a girl frozen in time.  As the crane lowered the huge crystal to its transport box, Mikasa was struck by the look of resigned peace on the girl’s place and found herself wondering what exactly her story was.  Who was she?  How did she end up frozen in this wasteland?  Mikasa shook her head and told her crew to move out, there would be time to ponder those questions later, right now it was too damn cold to think.
_____
The tall brunette cradled her cup of coffee, listening as her top researcher Hange relayed the data she had been able to gleam from her initial study of the ice crystal.
“While the crystal itself is freezing, no amount of heat seems to affect it at all!  Ha.  I even fired up the old blow torch to see if I could carve a chunk out of it and NOTHING worked!  I’ll have to run more tests on it to be sure but we have the artifact under lock and key.”
Mikasa nodded, unsurprised by the information.  While she and her team had been excavating, she had noticed the unusual hardness of the crystal, making it easy to separate it from the rest of the ice.  Sipping the bitter liquid, Mikasa made her way to the where the crystal was being held and entered the room.  She felt a strange uneasiness about leaving the frozen girl alone, but she couldn’t place why.  Taking a seat on the floor, Mikasa sketched the frozen girl to pass the time, wrapping a blanket around herself when the chill became too much.  A strange exhaustion fell over her and try as she might, Mikasa soon succumbed to the need to sleep, pencil and drawing pad slipping from her lap to the floor.
____
Mikasa groaned softly, stretching the kinks out of her neck, confused for a moment as to where she was any why she was so cold.  She opened her eyes, wincing at the light blue light and squeezed them back shut for a moment.  Squinting she opened them once more and gasped in surprise to find an almost naked girl sitting on the bench that lined the back of the wall.  More confusing than the appearance of the girl was that fact that she was soaking wet.  The floor beneath her soaked as well, water still standing as if something had melted..
With a start Mikasa stood, mouth open as she stared at the place where the large crystal had sat.  She remembered stopping by the room, the uneasiness she had felt at what lay within and how she had sat there drawing until exhaustion took over her.  She stared at the girl and felt a chill race up her spine as one large eye opened to reveal large ice blue orbs.
“You’re staring.  Why?”
The voice was soft but cold and Mikasa watched as slender pale fingers slid through wet blonde locks, pulling them up and away from the girl’s face to tie at the back of her head.  Every movement seemed fluid and the brunette was fascinated by the lithe muscle that seemed to ripple beneath the girl’s skin.  She felt her cheeks flush at the sound of a throat clearing and realized she had not answered the girl’s question.  Averting her eyes from the bared chest, Mikasa looked at the cool expression on the blonde’s face and nodded.
“My apologies.  We pulled you from the ice yesterday.  I didn’t expect you to be… well alive at all or unfrozen so quickly.”
Mikasa watched as the girl nodded, blue eyes lowering to look at both hands.
“It’s strange.  I feel like I was dreaming a long time… in a dark place… and then… there was light and… you…”
Mikasa held her breath as those cold eyes turned back to her and exhaled slowly, surprised to see it fogging in front of her.  She could feel goosebumps racing over her skin, her brow furrowing in confusion, teeth chattering as she asked the only logical question she could think of.
“Is this… you?”
Mikasa watched as the girl nodded slowly before standing slowly, the tattered cloth covering her lower area falling to the floor as she walked closer and Mikasa felt her face burn with embarrassment as her eyes takes down that slender body and then back up to that cold gaze now staring at her curiously.
“Have you never met a goddess before?”
Mikasa lifted a brow at the term. She was agnostic and had been ever since her parents had been murdered in front of her. She couldn’t force belief in any “creator” that would allow such a thing. Sensing that the girl (goddess?) was waiting for an answer. Shrugging Mikasa shook her head and felt her lips curling into a smirk.
“I can’t say I have.  I also can’t say I believe in gods OR goddesses but for arguments sake let’s say you are what you say you are - what are you the goddess of?”
Mikasa thought she saw a flash of amusement in those light eyes before those slightly blue lips opened and exhaled a single word
“Ice.”
Mikasa felt the temperature in the air drop and wrapped her arms around her body.  She had long since pulled the blanket back over her but she could see ice crystals beginning to form over the thick material.  She looked from the blanket back to the blonde and frowned slightly, taken back as the slender girl moved closer to her.
“Still don’t believe me?  Hmmm…”
Mikasa froze as a pale finger poked her chest through the blanket and she watched as an icicle formed sealing the two ends together.  Mikasa looked from the ice to the girl who’d formed it and swallowed slowly, her mind racing with wonder.  There was still a part of her that was skeptical and another part of her that felt giddy with discovery.
“How about now?”
The brunette nodded slowly and then pursed her lips, fixing the small blonde with a blank look.
“I’ve never met a goddess.  What is your name?”
She saw the girl smile slightly before thin shoulders shrugged.  “I am Shiva but I’ve been called many things throughout the centuries.”
Mikasa nodded and tested the name on her tongue and decided it didn’t fit the girl in front of her at all.
“I don’t think Shiva fits you at all.”
She could see the amusement clearly on the girl’s face and thought she heard a small chuckle in that bored voice.
“Oh?  Then what name would you give me?”
Mikasa tapped a cold finger against her lips, trying to calm that chattering of her teeth.  As if sensing her discomfort, the girl - Shiva - snapped her fingers and the freezing temperature seemed to dissipate.
“Sorry. I forget that what feels comfortable to me is too cold for humans such as yourself.  Anyways, you were saying?”
Mikasa flashed the girl a quick smile and nodded her thanks.  She gave the girl another long look over surprised when a name came unbidden to her mind.
“Annie.”
The small girl tilted her head to the side, a smile playing at her lips.
“Hmmmm Annie…. I like it…”
Mikasa startled as a cold finger traced her jawline, that cold voice almost a purr.
“Now that that’s settled. What do I call you?”
The brunette exhaled slowly, a slow heat startling to spread from low in her belly as that slim finger traced over her lips.
“Mi.. Mikasa”
Annie chuckled and slid closer.  “Mmmmm Mikasa, I like it.”  She slid her arms around the taller girl’s neck and pressed against the now thawed blanket
“So what say you find me some clothes and acquaint me with… what era are we in now?”
Mikasa nodded and disentangled herself from the smirking girl, ignoring the burning of her cheeks as she fled the room.  She didn’t believe in gods or goddesses but she thinks she might believe in “Annie” and for the first time, in a long time. Finds herself looking forward to the future instead of digging into the past.

Mikannie Week - Day 4 - Forgiveness
Mikasa sat heavily on the stool next to the bed and looked down at Eren as he slept.  His condition was rapidly deteriorating and there was nothing she could do.  She felt truly helpless for the first time in a long time.  All she had wanted to do was be by his side, to see him happy, to see him realize his dream and now… now she was doomed to simply sit here and watch him die.
The thought made her sick to her stomach and she stood, pacing the small room as her mind though back to what years she’d had with him; the first day they met, how he saved her life and gave her purpose, waking him up when he’d been lazy napping beneath a tree and watching him grow from scared little boy to the man he was today.
The room felt too small, too sad and Mikasa found herself walking towards the door and into the hallway, her footsteps carrying her forward even as she continued to be lost in thought.  It was the sound of the guard stopping her that made the girl realize where she had ended up.  She was deep underground, deeper than even the city’s sewer tunnels and at a door that had almost become as familiar as Eren’s.
Annie.
That name brought with it a range of conflicting emotions; anger, sadness, confusion, unwanted desire, love and hate just to name a few.  So far Mikasa had resisted going past that door to the girl who lay within.  She wanted to see the small blonde, to demand answers to so many questions but what good would it do now.  Mikasa had put all of it behind her when Annie had retreated behind her crystal.  What good would it do now to ask why she had killed all those people?  Or why she had betrayed her comrades or what possessed her to try and take Eren away KNOWING what he meant to Mikasa?
The last thought had the brunette slamming her fist to the wall, startling the young man on duty.  She felt his eyes on her and ignored him as she continued her pacing, letting herself get lost in thought, dreams and memories; memories like what had happened after Shadis had pulled the two of them apart before they could determine who would best the other in hand to hand combat.
_____
“You kids knock it off?  This is not the time to brawl.  Now go run laps, both of you.”
Mikasa had saluted and then immediately turned to begin her punishment, pacing herself for what she was sure would be a long sentence.  She could feel Annie’s eyes on her and hear her close behind.  Her fighting instincts rose.  Would the blonde try and take her down once they were out of Shadis sight?  Mikasa tensed and fought against putting more distance between herself and the small blonde.  Instead she shifted her position so that she could see Annie more clearly in her peripheral vision and adjusted her pace so that they were almost even.  They lapped the entire base four times before they heard Shadis yell at them to hit the showers.
Mikasa had partially stripped before the door had even closed and wiped the sweat from her body with her discarded shirt.  Every inch of her felt disgusting and Mikasa crinkled her nose as she peeled off her boots.  The only way she could smell worse was if she were dead.  She stiffened as the door opened once more and watched as Annie walked in and sat on the opposite bench, back turned.  For a moment Mikasa felt the urge to throw one of her boots at the girl but she refrained and worked on getting out of the rest of her clothes.  She walked naked over to the closest shower and turned it on, not even bothering to let the water warm.
Mikasa shivered under the ice cold stream but the water felt good on her skin, washing away the sweat from the day.  She grabbed the block of soap and lathered up, determined to clean everything at least twice.  She flinched slightly as she heard the other shower turn on and pointedly averted her eyes.  The brunette had seen the small girl unclothed before and knew Annie naked did nothing for her.  It wasn’t the nudity that made her avert her gaze but the anger she could feel still bubbling close to the surface.  A part of her had wanted the fight to continue, to answer the question on everyone’s mind as to who would win in a one-on-one match.  Mikasa was convinced Annie was her equal and it was only the other girl’s laziness that kept her from rising in the ranks.  The girl had already said she didn’t care, that as long as she made the top ten she would be satisfied.
“Are you done yet?”
That voice was colder than even the water and Mikasa turned to glare down at the girl (secretly pleased that she was over half a head taller) and frowned when she saw a slender hand outstretched as though waiting for something.  Her frown deepened as those slender fingers snapped twice before unfolding, ice blue eyes glaring back up at her in annoyance.
“The soap.  Are you done with the soap?  You’re not the only one who got sweaty you know.”
Mikasa felt her lips curl into a cruel smirk as she held the bar up over her head.
“You want it?  You’re gonna have to work for it.”
She saw Annie’s jaw tighten, surprised when the small girl jumped over a foot off the ground and Mikasa felt those small fingers brush against her wrist.  She heard the small girl curse and suddenly found herself pinned to the wall by a muscled forearm.
“Just give me the fucking soap.”
Mikasa scoffed and started to drop her arm when the brush of something firm and soft pressed against the underside of her breasts.  Startled she looked down and saw Annie’s body leaning into hers and she flushed as an electric shock rocked through her and felt the bar of soap slip through her hand.  Mikasa watched as it slid across the wet floor just a step away.  She felt those cold eyes on her, surprised when she heard a soft sound that might have been a laugh coming from the other girl.
Mikasa felt the tight hold loosen and lift as Annie turned around bending over to grab the discarded bar.  Mikasa gasped as the other girl’s ass pressed against her hips, digging in briefly before Annie straightened up and sauntered away.  The brunette watched as slender hips rocked provocatively.  She felt frozen as she watched Annie take the bar and rub it slowly down her front, blue eyes flashing as her hand crept between her legs before Mikasa snapped out of it.  Blushing furiously the taller of the two turned and finished, dressing quickly before retreating back to the dorm rooms.  Glad to find them empty for once she stripped back down, tugging on a tank top and her second pair of uniform pants.  She hurried to the dining hall, grateful to lose herself in routine while her mind furiously tried to rationalize what had happened.
____
Mikasa shook herself from the memory, feeling the tips of her ears burn with the fact that even now, almost 6 years later, she could still recall the feeling of that firm flesh pressing against her and she could feel her fingers twitch from the desire to reach out and hold the girl there.  She hadn’t then and Annie had avoided her after that, but the tension had remained, unchecked and not fully realized until after the battle of Trost when she had found the blonde sitting alone staring out into the night with a stricken expression on her face.
_____
The battle had shaken Mikasa to the core.  Losing Eren only to be reunited again had exhausted her emotions.  She had fought to remain at his side as he was taken into custody but her squad leader had pulled her back, telling her there was nothing more she could do.  Mikasa had resisted at first, determined to not be separated again but it was no use and she watched as the only family she had left was taken away.  She had wandered from corridor to corridor, taking in the grief of those who’d been left behind and feeling lost.  The girl’s dormitory was empty save for Krista and Ymir, the two of them wrapped up in each other, oblivious to everyone and anyone who may or may not want to share the room.  Mikasa had turned, content to give the two their privacy, it wasn’t as if she could sleep right now anyway - not with the knowledge of how easily she’d been willing to give up.
She took another long corridor, pushing open the door at the end of the hallway.  She felt more than saw the hard gaze from the girl who sat near the only window in the room and Mikasa was startled to realize it was Annie.  Feeling the awkwardness that had been building between them for months, Mikasa turned to leave stopping only by the faintest whisper to stay.  Curious the brunette turned and looked at Annie, truly, for the first time in months.  This was not the Annie she had grown accustomed to seeing.  Gone was the bored expression and that cold glare.  No, here sat an Annie she had never seen before, raw emotion bleeding through the cracks in that aggressive facade.  Mikasa stepped into the dark room and closed the door, slowly sinking to the floor with her back pressed against the wood, content with the silence.
She could feel Annie’s eyes on her, watching her, assessing her.  The memory of the last words she had said to the blonde played back in the asian girl’s mind and she cleared her throat softly, breaking the silence between them.
“I want you to know that I don’t think you are a coward.”
Mikasa watches Annie look back at her and stammers out the rest of her words in a rush.
“Everyone else was standing there and I needed - “
“You don’t have to explain.  What you said worked.”
Mikasa finds herself at a loss of what to say back.  She is no hero.  She had led recklessly, selfishly, caring for nothing but her own sorrow.  A sudden movement caught her eye and she looked up to see Annie standing over her, expressionless and realized that she had been speaking her thoughts outloud.  The brunette felt her cheeks burn and looked away from that piercing blue gaze only to find her chin caught and turned back, forcing her to look back at Annie.
“What matters is that you lived and that you didn’t lose anyone today.”
The words are soft and Mikasa can barely make them out past the pounding of her heart as a calloused finger traces her lower lip, pulling it down slightly.  She is reminded suddenly of that time in the showers, of the way that memory made her feel all the times she examined it.  Mikasa finds her head tilting up and she holds her breath when she sees Annie lean down, the first brush of their lips full of hesitancy, wonder and fear.  It is the kind of mixed emotion that changes things but Mikasa can’t worry about how she is changing, only that she wants to feel that again, harder and more.  She wants to focus on the heat it brings, to lose herself in the experience and forget how she almost lost herself completely earlier that day.
Annie is pressing her against the door, pulling her forward and then her back is on the ground, shoulders pinned as the small blonde straddles her waist, lips slanting at just the right angle so their teeth don’t clang in the heated rush of their first real kiss.  Mikasa can feel the heat radiating off that small body, so much heat from someone she’d always thought as cold.  It feels like it is burning through her and she moans as she pries Annie’s hands from her shoulders, lacing their hands together as she sits up before cradling the girl in her lap.
She knows that what she feels is want but she hasn’t the slightest clue how to sate that need.  She wishes she had paid more attention to the things Ymir and Krista do with one another but she has always turned away from such things.  Mikasa lets those small hands slip from hers and she trembles as nimble fingers unbutton and unstrap and peel back all the layers between them.  And when it is over and all she can taste and feel is the girl resting in her arms, does Mikasa finally stop thinking and let the sleep her body needs take over.
_____
Mikasa stands at that doorway remembering that night, remembering all the nights after when she would think back on it and wish that things could be different.  It is only wishful thinking.  There is no going back now that Annie has revealed herself to be an enemy of humanity and all Mikasa can think of is to wonder how can she love Annie despite that.  How can she forgive a girl who is directly responsible for the destruction of her home, for trying to take Eren away, for killing all those people?  She thinks back to what she said to herself after the battle of Trost, of how the world was cruel and yet so very beautiful.  She thinks of the way those cold eyes resemble the clearest sky and makes her decision.
Slowly she opens the door and sees Annie lying on her side staring, once more, at the world outside but there is no look of longing on her face, only resolve until those eyes turn to fixate on Mikasa once more.
“Annie, I forgive you.”
And she does because all the people she has left in this world, that she loves are titans now and the time she has left with them is scarce and too precious to be wrapped up in hate and misunderstanding.

Mikannie Week - Day 3 - Living Together
NC-17 WARNING / NSFW - LANGUAGE+SEXUAL CONTENT
Mikasa arched her back a shuddering gasp breaking past her lips as warm lips covered the stiffened tip of one of her breasts, the other palmed gently and she combed her fingers through loosened blonde locks, holding her lover there.  Gentle nips and clever flicks of that playful tongue gave way to a hard slow suction that left the brunette panting loudly.
“Fuck Annie.”
She felt her girlfriend’s lips curve into what she was sure was a smirk and groaned when the blonde shifted to give the other side that same attention.  Mikasa arched her hips against the small body pinning her down and groaned in frustration when Annie bowed her body away, denying the taller girl the friction she so desperately needed.  Mikasa growled and glared down as a light chuckle escaped the lips she’d left plump and bruised from her earlier kiss.
“Tsk tsk patience Mika.”
Mikasa rolled her eyes but sighed into the lazy kiss being pressed against her lips, letting her tongue curl languidly with Annie’s for a moment before biting down on the blonde’s lower lip.
“You bitch!”
Miksasa chuckled and flipped Annie over onto her back, straddling the small boxer, trapping Annie beneath her.  She furthered her display of dominance by kissing the other girl breathless as she slipped her fingers beneath the waistband of the form fitting boy shorts Annie insisted upon wearing.  She swallowed the low groan the blonde made as she dragged them down.  She only made it mid thigh before Annie pushed up, unsettling her balance and Mikasa found herself beneath the boxer again as a growl rumbled against her neck, “No, you first.”
The brunette opened her mouth to argue but her words stuck in her throat at the feel of strong fingers stroking at her center through the cotton separating them.  Mikasa gasped as those fingers roughly swiped across her clit and felt her face flush when Annie moaned hotly against her collarbone, “Fuck you’re wet Mika… you’re soaked through.”
Mikasa shook her head and ground back against Annie’s touch, panting softly, “Take them off.”
Annie nodded, dragging the ruined fabric off long toned legs and tossing them aside, licking her way back up slowly, nuzzling at the soft skin of Mikasa’s inner thigh before fixing her blue eyes on Mikasa’s grey and dragging her tongue up through that wet heat.  She smirked as the other girl arched with a ragged gasp and licked again feasting on the noises she was dragging from Mikasa.
Annie loved starting her days like this.  It was one of the many reasons she’d given up her solitude and personal space;  trading it for a domesticity that was slowly starting to grow on her – especially mornings like this one.
“I’m…. close….”
That breathy tone, those sharp gasps, loud whimpers and escalating moans.  Every note spurned the blonde on.  She had not known how vocal Mikasa could be before they had moved in together and she was unashamed to say she loved it, loved her because somehow this stubborn quiet girl had wormed her way in past Annie’s defenses refusing to take no for an answer, refusing to be pushed away.  It had been that steady resolve that had finally worn her down and caused the petite blonde to acquiesce to a single date; a single date that had begrudgingly grown to another and then another and then…
A sharp tug at her hair yanked Annie back to the present and ice blue eyes slowly traveled up the muscled landscape of Mikasa’s sculpted abs to those perfect breasts heaving with each panted breath.  She could feel the other girl’s body tensing, the tremble in the smooth thighs pressing against the sides of her head.  She could stay like this for hours slowly drinking everything Mikasa offered but her own desire was reaching a fevered pitch and Annie quickly closed her lips, giving her brunette the hard suction that would send her over the edge.
She moaned her approval as her name echoed around the, otherwise, quiet room and moved her tongue in slow strokes against that bundle of nerves until it was over.  Annie lifted herself and moved quickly up her lover’s body to straddle a, still twitching, thigh and rocked hard against it as she pulled Mikasa into a rough kiss.
“I love you,” she murmured as Mikasa pulled away and gasped as slim fingers slipped into her.  She was so wound up already that it only took a few thrusts before she too reached her peak, falling against the other girl’s shoulder as her hips rocked jerkingly.  Annie laughed softly, partially embarrassed by how loud she’d bean as she lifted her head and found Mikasa looking at her curiously.
“I was just thinking this is one of my favorite things about living together.”
Mikasa frowned slightly an eyebrow lifting, “The sex?”
Annie scoffed and shook her head before pushing her forehead against the other girl’s.
“Well that too but no, I was thinking that it’s nice not to have to hold back without worrying that one of our best friends can hear us.”
She paused and saw the faint blush that painted Mikasa’s cheeks and brushed her lips across it gently before continuing.
“I really like how loud you get.  It’s very flattering.”
Mikasa scoffed and pulled her head up, fixing her girlfriend with a mock glare.
“Like you need a bigger ego Annie.”
Annie chuckled and shrugged as she settled into Mikasa’s relaxed embrace.  Yes.  Living together had definitely been the right move to make.

Mikannie Week - Day 2 - Great Minds Think Alike
Annie felt her lips pull into a grin when her message tone broke through the silence in her room.  She didn’t have to guess who it was, she hadn’t had to guess for a while.  Rolling to her stomach she lazily typed in her password and pulled up her latest message from Mikasa.
Mikasa: Plans for the weekend?
Annie smirked and quickly typed back “Nah” before setting her phone down and burying her face in her pillow.  She felt warm all over, flushed even though the room was chilled.  Her mind wandered, as it so often did now, to what Mikasa was doing tonight, what she was wearing, what she looked like under all those prim and proper clothes she insisted upon wearing. The thoughts made Annie squeeze her thighs together and she groaned in irritation.  She was shit at this really, feelings.  It didn’t come naturally to her, especially since she didn’t know if the girl she was crushing on felt the same way.
Mikasa flirted back on the rare occasions Annie drew up the brass to flatly offer up a turn of phrase or a meaningful wink.  It was childish really but every time the tall brunette responded back in turn, the blonde felt her heart pound and her stomach turn with that strange mixture of anxiety and excitement.  She had talked to Reiner once about it, irritated when he has cuffed the back of her head and told her to just ask her already.  Annie had scoffed and told him to shut up, pushing the muscled boy away from her.
Could it really be that simple?  Should she just ask the girl out?  How did one even do that?
Another sigh and the small blonde rolled on her back, picking up her phone curiously.  She could see Mikasa typing and then stopping, typing and then stopping again and she wondered what the other girl could be trying to say.  Her curiosity was partially sated when the phone sounded off again.
Mikasa: What are you doing tonight?
Annie felt a shiver run through her as she pictured the grey eyed girl and scowled as her treacherous fingers typed out the word “you” and quickly deleted those three letters before her subconscious got anymore wild ideas or worse, actually hit send.  Annie let her mind wander to what Mikasa’s reaction would be to such a blatantly sexual response but found herself at a loss.  There was an unspoken line she’d been careful not to cross because, although she definitely like liked Mikasa she still valued the friendship they’d forged over the past weeks of getting know each other.  Enough so that she didn’t want to cross that line and unintentionally make things awkward.  Annie rolled her eyes when the other girl sent another question mark and smiled as she typed an abrupt invitation she was sure would be brushed aside.
Annie: Come over.
Smirking, Annie started to put down her phone sure that her invitation would be ignored and was startled by the buzz of an incoming text message.  She blinked in surprise at the rapid response and had to look over the words twice before they sunk in.
Mikasa: Be right there.
Annie swallowed and bolted out of bed, shoving the clutter under her bed and pulling her hair back in an effort not to appear like a complete slob in front of the girl of her dreams.  She had only just finished making her room and herself look presentable, heart hammering when the doorbell rang fifteen minutes later.
______
They hadn’t really hung out alone since that night they’d first talked and Annie was surprised how comfortable she felt with the other girl despite her fierce attraction.  They had text messaged a lot, sat with each other for lunch, competed against one another during P.E. but that had always involved other people.  Here, at Annie’s house, alone together (and in her room no less) there were no distractions, no other people to be cautious around and the petite blonde wondered if now was the right time to say something.
The movie droned on in the background, some B horror movie Mikasa had selected, and Annie leaned against her headboard trying and failing miserably to pay attention to the movie as the other girl stretched out on her stomach in front of her.  Blue eyes trailed over the smooth curves on display before her, her breath hitching slightly as Mikasa shifted, her shirt riding up to expose the smooth pale skin of her back.  Annie reached out, fingertips almost brushing that sliver of skin before she realized what she was doing and pulled her hand back in alarm but it was too late.  Dark eyes were looking at her, their expression hidden in the shadows cast by the movie neither of them were watching.  Annie sat motionless, paralyzed by the thought that she’d somehow been caught, that Mikasa had read the longing on her face.  Annie’s mind was racing through a dozen excuses that would explain her actions or at least make light of them.  She watched with dread as Mikasa sat up, turning towards her and she flinched as long fingers weaving into the back of her hair, yanking her forward.  She gasped as warm lips suddenly pressed against her own, sliding, moving gently.  She felt teeth scraping at her lower lip, nibbling slightly before she felt the press of a hot tongue sliding against her own and she moaned as Mikasa pushed her down against the sheets.
They slotted together, mouths aligned as they took and gave, trading dominance for submission  before the need to breath again drove them apart.  Annie swallowed, panting as she looked down at where she’d ended up, atop the other girl, immediately wary as Mikasa flashed her a slow predatory grin.
“Finally.  I was getting tired of waiting for you to make a move.”
Annie scowled and huffed before being pulled back into another long searing kiss; movie completely ignored and forgotten.
______
Annie found herself daydreaming about that night frequently as well as all the ones that followed where she found herself wrapping up with and around the other girl.  They’d told no one and nothing was official but Annie found herself wanting it to be, which is why she was standing in a flower shop with absolutely no idea what she was doing.
Girls like Mikasa liked flowers right?
The blonde let her fingertips brush over the petals of bouquet of roses, her lips twitching when she thought that she’d finally found something as soft as the pale skin she couldn’t seem to get enough of.  Then she frowned.  No, roses were too cliche and she didn’t want to be cliche, not with this.  So she walked slowly, looking from side to side for something that stood out.  Annie eyed a few blue grey varieties that reminded her of Mikasa’s stormy eye color and grunted as she walked into what felt like a solid brick wall.
“Annie!”
She felt the tips of her ears burn in recognition of that voice and found herself tilting her head to confirm her suspicions and almost cringed as her gaze settled on Mikasa.
Shit.  I didn’t expect to run into her here!
Annie’s eyes dropped to the bouquet of flowers held loosely in the taller girl’s hand and then looked back up quickly to see the pink blush that stained the other girl’s cheeks.  Frowning slightly, Annie crossed her arms over her chest and tried to act cool even though inside she was equal parts trepidation and rage.
“So who’re the flowers for?”
She watches mystified as pink turns to red and feels her head turning slightly to the side in wonder as Mikasa drags her ever present scarf up over her mouth and nose to hide the evidence of her embarrassment.  Suddenly the white lilies are thrust towards her and she can feel her own face warm at the gesture as her fingers brush Mikasa’s in the passoff.
Suddenly Annie doesn’t care that they are in the middle of a flower shop or that someone might see what the two of them have been hiding from prying eyes and she yanks down that annoying scarf and pulls Mikasa down to her level.  She kisses the surprised girl, pulling away only to husk out a single worded question.
“Girlfriends?”
Smiling when Mikasa nods and pushes their lips back together.  It’s the voice of the shop owner that drives them apart finally when he yells, asking if they are going to pay for the flowers that have been crushed between them.  Annie feels a rare laugh bubbling from the back of her throat as Mikasa pulls the damaged blossoms away and throws them to the ground before grabbing her hand and yanking her out onto the somewhat busy street.  They hear the man yell again before they are racing off, hand in hand and Annie could care less if they are in trouble because she’s got what she wanted all along.

Mikannie Week - Day 1 - Dropping Hints
It started with a party.  It always started at a party for Annie because her best friends were always partying and always trying to get her to hook up with whatever girls just happened to be in attendance.  Not that philosophy had worked well for her in the past, but that didn’t stop her boys from trying. The short blonde leaned against the wall, signature hoodie up and hands shoved into her pockets watching the rest of the party goers gathering around Reiner’s homemade beer pong table.  She caught the sly wink on her friends face and followed his gaze to where the front door had opened, allowing the three new students he had graciously invited, to step inside.  Two boys stood there looking lost, a tall brunette between them, face half hidden by a red scarf.
Annie hadn’t really gotten a good look at the girl earlier that day, since she’d only shared one class with her (at least she thinks it’s only one class but since she skipped three of them she can’t be too sure).  Either way the girl was here now and Annie couldn’t help but stare at the flawless features and trim physique with an open curiosity.  She felt the tips of her ears burn when she noticed those storm colored eyes staring at her, an elegant brow lifted as if to ask if she liked what she saw.  She fixed her face with a bored expression and looked away back to the game being played.  Reiner and Berthold were winning, which wasn’t unusual.  She watched as the two new boys joined the crowd, brows furrowing as she wondered what happened to the girl.
Suddenly Annie felt the warmth of another at her side and turned to see that stormy gaze up close.  She felt her eyes widen slightly before schooling her features and turning away, letting the silence stretch between them.   When the girl didn’t say anything, Annie turned back to her and quirked an eyebrow.
“You’re the new girl.”
She didn’t phrase it as a question and she wasn’t surprised when the girl didn’t answer.  The silence wasn’t unwelcome but Annie, for once, found it unnerving.  Usually she was the quiet one, usually she let the other girls talk and she would decide when and what to say if and when she wanted to say anything at all.  She found herself watching the girl out of the corner of her eye, noting the possessive way she stared across the room at the two boys she’d arrived with.   Clearing her throat, the blonde turned towards the tall brunette and flashed a small smirk.
“So which one is your boyfriend?”
She watched as stoic features shifted slightly unto disbelief for a moment, a slight flush coloring pale cheeks.
“Neither,” came the curt response and Annie felt a chill go up her spine at the smokiness of the other girl’s voice.  She blinked, immediately caught off guard.  She felt something nudge her arm and looked down to see an out stretched hand.
“I’m Mikasa.”
Mikasa.  Annie rolled the name around in her head for a moment before reaching to take the girl’s hand, surprised again by the firm grip and by the warm that radiated up her arm from it.  She tightened her own and glanced up, momentarily dazed by the kaleidoscope of colors shifting in that grey gaze.  Fuck this girl was hot.  That was the next thought Annie had as she slipped her fingers free of that firm grasp, fighting the sudden urge to find out everything there was to know about this girl.  She bit her lip to still the dozen questions piling up in the forefront of her mind and glanced back at the beer pong table.
“Did you want to play?”
The question was spoken quietly and Annie found herself glancing back at Mikasa as she shook her head.
“No, it’s not really my scene.”
There was another long pause and then, “What is your scene then?”
Annie raised an eyebrow at the question and wondered if it was just her imagination or if there had been an inflection of interest in that quiet voice.  She thought about the way her skin had tingled under the dark haired girl’s touch and the way that voice seemed to have a direct line to the heat between her thighs.  Flashing a coy grin up at Mikasa, Annie took a slight step closer and shrugged nonchalantly, “Not this.”
She watched as those full lips turned down slightly, surprised when a light grip closed over her upper arm and she felt warm breath tickle her ear.
“And which one is your boyfriend?”
Annie felt heat coiling low in her stomach at the touch and the amused confidence in the smirk that curled those too pink lips.  She flushed slightly at the teasing inference in that low voice, ice blue eyes widening as Mikasa bent closer and felt smooth lips brushing against her ear, fingertips rubbing the cloth of her sleeve.
“Or is it girlfriend?”
Annie released a huff of annoyance and rolled her eyes, throwing Mikasa’s earlier statement back at her.
“Neither.”
Her cheek was met with a light chuckle and she found herself grinning back at the other girl, conversation coming easier between them until they are interrupted by one of the boys Mikasa came with, Armin she thinks his name is.
“Hey Mikasa, Eren says the party is breaking up and he’s ready to head back home.  Are you ok to drive?”
It’s in that instance Annie wishes she’d thought to get the brunette a drink or five, enough that she’d have to stay, but they’ve spent the entire night talking and flirting and Annie doesn’t want it to end.  She sees the hesitancy on Mikasa’s face for just a moment before all emotion is forced back behind that stoic mask and the dark haired girl gives the blonde boy a quick nod and watches as he walks off, presumably to find Eren.
“So… will I see you in class Annie?”
The blonde nods slowly, thinking that now she is going to have to stop skipping if it means spending time with this girl and she startles as a hand slips into her own leaving behind a small slip of paper.
“My cell… if you want to keep talking that is…”
Annie takes in the heavy lidded gaze and swallows slowly, wishing she were brave enough to follow through on what she is sure is an invitation for something more but her nerves get the best of her and she just nods, eyes darting over to where Reiner is starting unabashedly at her as he whispers to Berthold.  When she looks again the trio are walking out and she wants to kick herself for not saying more but she catches that dark gaze as it glances her way and flushes at the small smile flashed her way before Mikasa disappears from sight.  She fingers the slip of paper in her pocket and starts to pull it out before she is accosted by Reiner who is draping his arm over her shoulders and asking when the first date is.
She ignores his antics and shoves him off, escaping up the stairs to her room, cell phone instantly out as she opens the note Mikasa has slipped her.  A number is there along with Mikasa’s name, the “I” dotted with a heart and Annie both blushes and rolls her eyes as she plugs the contact into her phone.  She rolls to her side, glancing at the clock which tells her she will definitely not be getting enough sleep tonight but somehow she doesn’t mind and for the first time in a long time she is actually looking forward to class.
