Unreleased Rumors and Secrets: Minor’s Memory Book

There was a scandal for the drop rates of the first wish tree event in China, and those cards were never released for any other server. Some of those cards had Rumors and Secrets attached. Some people have translated some, but Gavin’s don’t seem to have been so, and I was asked in the R18 Discord to translate the R&S from our beloved Minor.

I got beaten up.

This morning, I was super bold and stuck an “evil begone” sticker onto the school bully’s lunchbox as a challenge. Well, I stuck a bunch on, and that guy suddenly came with five other guys to corner me in the alley. I straightened my back, but I felt a chill. And the result was those four words I started this entry with… I got beaten up. With a bloody nose and a swollen face, I suddenly felt that this era really has no heroes… even a strapping young lad like myself must undergo such suffering…

Suddenly, a pair of white sneakers stood before my eyes. I lifted my swollen face and struggled to focus my eyes, only to see a fierce figure. He extended a hand and grasped the bully’s neck, with steel in his gaze!

“Holy crap… it’s actually Bai! Qi! Xue! Zhang! [Bai Qi is Gavin’s Chinese name. Xuezhang is an honorific used for male seniors in school, similar to Japanese -sempai or Korean -seonbae. I will translate as Gavin-sempai for ease of understanding by a Western nerd audience.]

Today I truly got to see with my own eyes the genuine 1v5. Gavin-sempai reduced them to ashes with his hands. He glanced down at me and was gonna leave, but I grabbed onto his pant leg.

Sempai is as cold as the legends said, all he said was one word: Scram.

What a man!!!

So now my heart has one goal: I want to learn the skill of going 1v5 from sempai!

This is a wonderful overview of how each pair has their own, unique dynamic ☺️ I think the reason I’m unable to bring myself to choose a favorite out of the four is that each bond portrays itself in a distinctly different yet equally compelling way within the narrative that appeals to me primarily because of the differences. It never feels like the moments she shares between all of them is a simple copy and paste from an interaction with a separate love interest.

Thank you so much for putting it into words! (This will also be extremely helpful for reference when writing out the pairs)

The relationship of Male Leads and MC

One of the things I like about this game is that the relationships with the guys bring out different sides of Yōurán(MC)

Lucien and Yōurán are emotionally compatible. They share the same taste in literature and art and he is very skilled in engaging her in thoughtful conversations. (Also their love for sad love stories like The Little Mermaid - befitting for the most angsty couple in the game) In contrast their philosophies about evolution and morality are very different, and this later leads to conflict that hurts them both but they care about each other so deeply that they’re unable to let each other go. You can see how much she changed him(compared to Ares in chapter 21) and he went deep into her heart that she’s still willing to give him her love even after being heartbroken many times. 

Gavin and Yōurán share the same moral values. She inspires Gavin to walk the path of justice, became his beacon of life. She also makes Gavin take better care of himself, reminding him to eat regularly and tend to his wounds more often. Gavin also learns self-worth because she constantly tells him what an awesome person he is. Gavin has few interests outside of Yōurán but she always encourages him to try new things and tries to engage in his hobbies as well. She broadens his life to be more than just his missions. In turn, she is inspired by Gavin’s bravery and tries to become like him. Facing dangers head and putting herself out of her way to protect others like him. She always admires his pursuit of justice and tries to follow his example.

Kiro and Yōurán are such a fun-loving goofy couple. Things are never boring when they’re together, always finding things to get hyped up about and having the best of times. Personality-wise, I think they’re the most similar. They cheer each other up and Kiro is her sun giving her comfort and optimism. But his brightness came from her so she is his sun as well. Also, Yōurán is the only one who can notice Kiro’s “shadow” side. But she respects his boundaries and gives unconditional support and assurance that she will accept him no matter what, but doesn’t push him to reveal what he wants to hide. They are soulmates, always hand in hand since their days in the orphanage.

Victor x Yōurán is the classic example of opposites attract and dislike slowly changes to love. Things really didn’t start well between them, and Victor was so not her type that she has shown scant interest to Victor’s standoffish attempts to express his affections for her. Even after she became aware, she found it more awkward rather than reciprocal. Still, Victor respected her feelings and patiently waited until she finally came to accept him romantically. Victor challenges her to improve and become more competent. They are both hard-workers. In turn, she tries to get him out of his comfort zone and let down his walls. Engaging the stern, proper CEO to playing all sorts of silly games and giving him dorky presents. Sometimes, it benefits us to be a little less smart and a little more foolish.
