Updates: Blog Theme & Moderator Applications

Hi all, some quick updates from me ––

The theme issues I'm having seem to be internally linked with the blog, so I have decided to MOVE the network blog to a new url so I can go forward with the blog customization process. That being said, PLEASE follow the NEW NETWORK BLOG @welcometoatac as this blog is going to be deleted once I transfer all the data over. 

On a more positive note, I am currently looking for a blog moderator! I'm very busy between graduate school and my ongoing internship, so I am looking for someone to help me manage the new blog. Some of the responsibilities will include:

general maintenance of the blog (including reporting any html/coding glitches to me so I can fix it)

keeping a log of new members/submitted fanfiction so I can add them to the website

reblogging ND content

maintaining the tagging system for accessibility purposes

answering weekly asks

In the future, this role might expand to include assisting me in running network-wide events, but since we moved to a new account and the blog is fairly "new" (in terms of gaining followers again) I'd mostly just like someone to help me churn out content and promote the blog.

Priority was given to members of my discord server but applications are now open to the public! Experience with HTML/CSS coding & photo-editing software (Photoshop, Canva, Gimp) is preferred, but certainly not required. Applications will close THIS FRIDAY at 11:59PM (EST). Theme Issues

Hi everyone, wanted to give you all an update that I've been trying to work on the website during my down periods at work, but unfortunately Tumblr has been less than cooperative and I'm unable to edit any HTML without being presented with an error that reverts the entire blog (and everything I'd been tinkering with) back to the Tumblr default theme. I've been researching some workarounds, but none of them have worked thus far :(

Long time, no see.

What's up everyone? It's been a minute –– longer than that, but who's counting.

I've taken a sizeable hiatus from Tumblr as a whole as my physical and mental health heals. Even my personal blogs have a thin layer of dust on them. But I know all of you love the network blog and I'm not giving up on it, so I'd like to do a big refresh on the blog, how I run it, and everything in between. But I need your help.

It's not really all that fun to run a blog that no one enjoys, which is why I'm a big fan of anonymous surveys to collect feedback and implement the suggestions into noticeable changes. I made another one and I'd really like it if you guys could fill it out for me. Please be as constructive if you want, my feelings won't be hurt. I'll be working on the blog throughout the week and checking the results from the survey as I go.

alas the nancydrewnetwork march merch challenge is no more (though I wish @nancydrewnetwork​ all the best) I wanted to share what I was working on- inspired by HeR’s old postcard / ecard promos I thought it would be neat if you could buy postcard packs inspired by each game.

I also put some together for TRT…

(the marie antoinette from the top of the stairs and the one from the tower; wickford castle corporate card based on the brochure in the lobby that ended up looking a bit too much like a business card really; the 3 wisconsin cards from the lobby; the wickford brochure uses a picture of Inverary castle as a picture of wickford (the real one is in scotland), so here’s the real inverary; and one with a pic of manresa caslte, which is a real faux-castle-cum-hotel in Washington state)

(scenery& etc from in-game incl a very questionable attempt at recreating yazzie’s logo; the ‘varmint’ card is in fact from the game files, it seems to be an unused + unfinished award; the petroglyph and b+w photo are from the pictures in mary’s shop; the ‘arizona’ and cliff dwelling cards are real postcards)

(tbh most of these are p clearly inspired by the amount of time I spent being dragged around to provincial parks as a young thing… I imagine the educational fare at US state parks follows a similar vein. including ranger akers’ fursona was not a choice so much as it was a necessity)

Important Updates: Please Read

Hi guys,

I’m going to keep this as short as possible. I have received several not-so-nice anons regarding my absence and wanted to update you all on what’s been going on and what to expect in the coming months.

I’ll be honest, I’m not well. My physical health has not been great the past couple of weeks (months, honestly), and I have been trying to prioritize my health over a Tumblr blog. With internship and graduate school taking place primarily on Zoom, I have developed a sensitivity to screens and additional time spent on my laptop causes me extreme nausea. This, amongst other things, have led to my (silent) hiatus, which, unfortunately, will continue until these things subside. It’s my hope that I’ll start to feel better around the summer, but I can’t be sure.

I’m sorry for breaking my promise of having content this year, but these health problems were obviously unforeseen, and this is ultimately just a hobby that I like to do for fun to give back to the fandom. I know this is disappointing, and I feel incredibly guilty for “abandoning” such a big project since I know this was enjoyable for a lot of you. I would ask that you hold some grace for me and withstand the urge to sending me nasty anonymous messages.

I do want to clarify that I’m not on complete hiatus, just a semi-hiatus for now. I’ll continue to reblog posts as they come across my dash or the #nancydrewnetwork tag, but all bracket, mini-polls and monthly challenges will be suspended until further notice. I do want to feature our fandom’s artists and graphic designers that put a lot of work into their posts. You’re also welcome, as always, to join the network discord server, as it’s still fairly active and members are free to share their ND-related posts and talk about different things (non-ND things as well). 

I conclude this by saying thank-you to those who have reached out and extended support/kind words. I appreciate all of you so much and I hope you all can understand this is a difficult decision I have to make.

Let’s talk (for a sec)...

Hello all (again),

By now you’ve probably realized that I was a day late to debut the results from last week’s mini-poll and post the new poll for this week. It’s no secret that I’m in graduate school and I just started a practicum experience which not only takes up a lot of my time, but is incredibly mentally and emotionally exhausting.

I know that the only person putting any pressure on me to run this blog is myself, because all of you have been incredibly kind, gracious and supportive at every step along the way. I want to take a moment to acknowledge that I’m really grateful to be a part of a fandom like this one, as I genuinely feel supported by all of you and I love that this blog has churned some energy around a character that is quickly fading (as Herinteractive navigates this new business structure, I should say).

Regardless of all of that, I figured that it would only be fitting to use this week’s mini-poll as another mental health check-in. I did this at the beginning of November (it feels like it was forever ago) and you all really liked having a safe place reserved for you to talk about things as you wish on an anonymous platform.

Just in case you weren’t around last time –– this mini-poll is completely optional, 100% anonymous, and flexible to whatever you want to talk about. All questions are optional, and you can answer all of it, select questions, or none of them at all (if it doesn’t serve you).

I know we all have a lot on our plates right now, wherever you are, and sometimes having a space to share helps alleviate those feelings of isolation and loneliness. I don’t know about everyone, but I’m nearing the point in the year where my academic stress is about to reach a boiling point, and I can’t imagine what the rest of you are going through. I really wanted to make this blog to find a sense of community and support, and I want this mini-poll to serve as another reminder that you are not alone, you are loved, and that you are safe here.
