Paradiso is a strange, wondrous fixture in the Harbourside neighbourhood. Its alluring front room draws in all types of clientele, but its regulars frequent the back room, where entertainment from exotic dancing to dynamic cabaret to atmospherically appropriate musical performances are held.

Its real regulars know something that isn't obvious on the surface: Paradiso caters specifically to the sanguivore sect; that is, those that drink blood.

While special orders at the bar result in prepared meals for such guests, the far back rooms of Paradiso are more desirable, but are exclusive to known entities or those invited by known sponsors; not just anyone can get into the feeding den, where carefully watched and protected volunteers offer blood directly from the source.

↠ Owners & Operators

The owners of Paradiso are very well-connected indeed, especially to the undead sector of the city. Powerful in their own right both magically and politically, the operators of Paradiso keep their finger on the pulse (quite literally) of the city. It's an open secret that they are privy to whatever secrets are spilled where the blood is. The owners and operators are also responsible for keeping everyone in their employ safe and from any form of prying eyes.

↠ Feeders

Feeders at Paradiso provide precisely the kinds of services one might imagine. They are the straight-from-source volunteers for the blood-drinking visitors of Paradiso. Most are mortal - many are even carefully-vetted humans. Paradiso takes the safety and well-being of Feeders extremely seriously; the den is monitored heavily using magical protections to ensure no one is harmed, either purposefully or on accident.

↠ Sourcers

Besides the Feeders, blood has to come from somewhere. Not everyone can afford - or wishes to partake in - live feeding. Thus, blood is available at the bar if requested via code-word orders. But where does it come from? Well, this is where the Sourcers come in. Whether its connections to an external volunteer network or through other means, Sourcers are charged with providing ethically sourced blood to the bar. (It's organic! Probably!)

Site event: May-June

Springtime settles over Narrowsgate. The University bustles as the Easter Term begins. From the borders of the Narrows, the fabric of time stretches, blooming alongside the magnolias... until it tears.

All over the city, doorways to other places - to other times - start to unfurl.

It can be super daunting to evaluate sites to see if they fit your list of wants and needs! In this bump, we'll give a brief tour of Narrowsgate to help you see if it checks your boxes!

Site vibe and premise

Narrowsgate is a 21+ supernatural site specifically geared towards playing with folklore and mythology in a dark academia setting. We are set in a rainy, Mist-filled fictional town at the edge of England's southmost shore. Its crown jewel is Narrowsgate University, but the site focus expands into the vibrant city life and beyond. We cultivate vibes of mystery, intrigue, magic, history, and secrets, with just a dash of spooky horror. We do run site events but they are completely optional to engage with.

Our skin

Our original skin is designed from the ground up to be accessible and extremely mobile friendly. It features a light/dark mode toggle, and easy-to-use codes for posts and development. We also have thoughtfully designed built-in automations to make the site more performant and to keep admin tasks (such as claims and activity checks) and thread tracking simple and easy.

Our app

While our application style is currently shipper app style, we don't actually use shipper replies. (We are considering potentially migrating to profile apps in the near future.) All plotting happens via Discord.

While we provide resources for guiding you through the application, we are very open to member ideas, and the app process is very easy. There is no minimum word count on posts or for the app.

Open lore

So what does open lore mean to us? It means you are free to play almost any being from mythology or folklore. The setting itself features its own lore as well, which is rooted to the site setting and world, but impacts ALL supernatural beings. Supernatural beings are secret to humans in the world of Narrowsgate, and mundane humans are very welcome to play.

Site culture

We like to think we cultivate a really nice space to write! The staff is 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈 trans and queer, and we take very seriously the business of making a space that is supportively inclusive for the spectrum of identities and experiences while functioning as an anti-racist and anti-ableist space. Apart from this, we strive to be collaborative, and to support member contributions and ideas.

Our server right now has a nice, easygoing feel to it, and there is a lot of creative energy sparking. We don't require that anyone participate in the server to any extent beyond however much they wish to!

As for activity, our activity checks are automated, just like our claims. We take stock every month of anyone who hasn't posted lately, and will check in with you to see what's up. It's a pretty low pressure environment. We also host (optional) community events such as movie nights!

THE SAINTS

...Viscount Pearson, member of a long-established family of sorcerers in Narrowsgate, built a sprawling manor right at the edge of the Narrows sometime in the 17th century. Since then, the manor and its grounds have been handed down through the ages.

For some time, the manor and its grounds stood empty but guarded, until finally in 2018, it was reclaimed by its most recent heir: one secretive Stell Pearson, who, since her inheritance in 2019, converted the grounds into a place for an artist collective now dubbed "the Saints"...
