Hey, what pieces of influential (or not!) Death Note fanwork do you personally interpret as basically canon?

I find myself regularly thinking things from Angelic Reeds (a Near-centric doujin) are canonical before going "wait... that's a doujinshi". I noticed a lot of people have adopted ideas from it in their own work (e.g. Near is (implied) amnesiac and emotionally stunted, he was at a different institution before Wammy's, L did sometimes visit the orphanage not as himself but under the "Ryuzaki" alias, etc).

the thing that gets me about the death note netflix adaptation is that they made l and light dumber than their og counterparts but,, they made misa smarter

Wanna write a fic where L and Light's lives get absolutely destroyed. Through real world consequences, or fantastical and epic events.

Like they are so spoiled. They are so arrogant and soft but they act like they're the toughest guys around that have seen everything. L probably more than Light has seen his fair share of hardship when he was young as an orphan, but both of them have been easily able to shape their lives the way they want. Every hardship they've encountered has been a result of their own actions, they never take on more than they could chew.

What if it all imploded. What if they lost everything. No money, no power, no food, no shelter— no people to manipulate.

What if they go through so much pain and hardship that they actually miss eachother. Realize what they took for granted. Have to build themselves back from the ground up with only eachother as support.

Maybe they learn something, maybe they let themselves fly into the sun despite it all. Would be very interesting to force them to confront their truths, explore what it would be like to really see them work together, build real trust, become more wise and kind.

Watch lawlight help eachother learn how to really be human.

It's very silly, but it was very fun to make, specially Hancock's expression! 🤭 Love this two and their dinamic, they're so sweet.

I love to imagine a few years after Luffy becomes pirate king, in one of the visits the strawhats pay to Amazon Lily, Hancock would ask Luffy to marry her like she always does and everyone (including her) would be like "oh, poor Hancock will get rejected again" and OUT OF NOWHERE Luffy would accept it, because why not? And that's how they would get together and start a family in the most random way lol
