First off, we've got some exciting news to share with you! This year, we will be having @kittenexart join us as a communications mod! She will be assisting with sending out results and following up on checkpoints, as well as making announcements and reminder posts. We're very excited to have her with us this year :)

And now onto the usual:

The Naruto Calendar is a free digital fan calendar comprising of 12 themed artworks and fics for each of the 12 months, which will be available late December for everyone to view and download.

Contributor sign ups for this year will be open June 1, 2025 so stay tuned! They will be closed July 31, 2025.

As always, you can find the rules and guidelines here.

As a reminder: we have removed the holidays exceptions. Holidays will now no longer be allowed, to allow for more inclusivity and to encourage contributors to be creative with their topics.

We will also still allow paired applicants so come grab a buddy and sign up together!

The schedule for this year can be found here (still being updated and will be finalized on June 1--though most of the dates are roughly the same).

I read over all the info and was wondering about the au stuff. I draw naruto characters as cats would something like that be allowed in the calendar?

Yes, that would be allowed, as long as your writer partner is comfortable with that theme. If you're unsure, you can always ask the mods about it, and all topics have to be approved anyway before you can proceed with it.

My 2025 Firsts!

First bit of arts and crafts: Well, I did recently contribute to the 2025 edition of the @naruto-calendar. My fanfic entry is for the month of May. Check it out here!

Outside of that, I've been deep in the Stardew rabbit hole, developing Aina's story in that universe. As if that weren't enough, my brother tuned me in to Fire Emblem: Three Houses over the winter break. Another video game--and one I can see myself getting quite invested in as a story at this rate!

First movie watched: Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), directed and produced by Steven Spielberg and John Landis. Yes, that one. The one that got Vic Morrow and two illegally hired child actors killed in a helicopter crash. Note that I didn't know this until the middle of the film, when my mom filled me in on the incident. Not sure if I can ever watch it again with this knowledge...

First song I listened to: "Don't Know Much" (1989) by Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville. It's just...such a beautiful ballad I never paid much attention to until recently! It sure does speak to my muse.

So many questions Still left unanswered, So much I've never broken through. And when I feel you near me, Sometimes I see so clearly. The only truth I've ever known is me and you. (...) I don't know much, But I know I love you, And that may be All I need to know.

First TV show watched: The Twilight Zone (1959 - 1964). The original anthology series by Rod Serling! My mom is a big fan of the series and it's become a holiday tradition for us to binge-watch the show from New Year's Eve through New Year's Day.

First book read: The Maltese Falcon (1930), by Dashiell Hammett. I got introduced to this one through a substitute teacher's assignment at a local high school, of all places! This book helped to popularize the hard-boiled fiction genre, and all the tropes that go with it.

First dinner had: My mom's barbecued pulled pork with mac 'n' cheese. And some large-curd cottage cheese on the side.

First food eaten: Uhhhh...if my memory serves me, it was a mug of coffee with sweet cream creamer, and some snickerdoodle cookies on the side. Not a healthy breakfast, I know! But it was all I felt like putting together.
