The Princess of Pixie Hollow and the Warden of the Winter Woods

Another Clarion and Milori art! Inspired by Chapter 19's Winter Ball❄️ Oh, how I love them so much!💛 On another note, I had to make a design for Milori's wings out of my own imagination! I picture his wings to be like the marks of skates on ice, and in certain times, it would be like the graceful cracks on the glaciers that he dutifully guards during his time as a warden. Just a headcanon, though! And of course, I'll continue daydreaming about Wings of Starlight by @/allisonhsaft on Instagram!✨ There's still so many things scenes I want to draw, so many moments I'd love to storyboard as well! But alas, I'm still drowning in my thesis film production ���� Wings of Starlight really is my rest during these stressful times.

LORE:

heath is a vampire hunter who was raised as an orphan by the church of the cross, a religion built on the "cleansing" (starvation and physical/psychological torture, often through crucification) of evil people, particularly vampires. heath's closest friend among the other wards of the church is vale, a sickly little boy who doesn't talk much or go outside or cry, even when he's in great pain. heath protects vale from his many bullies, and sneaks him food because the keepers of the chapel don't seem to feed him enough :(

one day, vampires set the chapel on fire and slaughter many of the people within. heath loses vale in the chaos, and emerges as the only survivor. he's devastated (and like 8 years old) and swears vengeance, but not before another branch of the church takes him in and further drills in his hatred of vampires. they gift him a silver dagger, which can detect vampires and burn them with pure light.

meanwhile, vale escaped the fire, but in his panic can't find heath and decides to flee for his life. he makes it to the isolated blood moon manor, once a vampire hideout that was cleared out a long time ago by vampire hunters in the past. vale hides there, and for years, he starves for his own safety--after all, he's been starved his entire life, save for a tiny taste of heath's blood when a bully cut his cheek.

seventeen years later, heath--now an established and skillful vampire hunter--follows his silver dagger to blood moon manor. he is welcomed by the seductive, somewhat familiar lord of the manor. heath is usually immune to vampire charms, but for some reason, this vampire lord is getting to him. the vampire is also slightly cray from starvation, and heath is like "i should kill this guy Now.......but..."

eventually their encounter escalates and heath knows he is getting seduced(tm) after they like kiss a LOT and he's likeOKAY THAT WAS REALLY , GOOD BUT BYE and draws his rapier:

heath's blood restores vale's senses and memory, and when they both remember each other, they scream n cry n throw up. heath is weakened by the blood drinking and vale cares for him, just as heath had cared for him when they were children.

as he recovers in one of those super high princess beds with the curtains, heath learns the truth of what the church did to vale. he was just a little boy, but he was starved of blood and beaten/exorcised if he asked for any. so he learned not to ask for any, and swallow his hunger for Ever and Ever. he was the church's experiment, to see if they could "save" a vampire--and when they learned they couldn't, they treated him like a prisoner.

heath tears off his cross pendant and pelts it into the gaping shadows of the manor. this was not the church he'd sworn his allegiance to--the noble faith he'd worshipped since childhood was an imaginary one.

also heath has vale come into bed with him since he's also been burned by the silver dagger. heath apologizes and kisses his wounds to make them better </3 and vale does feel better </3 he's fed for almost the first time in his life, and finally feels warm inside, so he and heath fall asleep in each other's arms as they had when they were children. and then heath eventually wakes up and is like god i had a dream i kissed a hot vampire who was actually my childhood friend. wait oh my god !!!!! my life rules !!!!!

in this au veath are three(?) years older than their og versions, and heath immediately returns vale's feelings of love rather than taking some time. heath abandons the church (he didn't tell anyone where he was headed so nobody followed him), living peacefully with vale hunting game and fishing and growing a garden to feed himself and his beloved. but when hungry vale occasionally gets, Like That which heath is honestly Down For but he doesn't want vale to feel hungry so he always offers blood. but little does he know vale is also Down For being Like That because the kissing+ is crazy

DESIGN NOTES:

the main design differences between og vale and au vale are: (a) au vale's hair is slightly redder at the tips (b) red eye makeup (c) slit pupils (when starved) (d) one white ear stud

the main design differences between og heath and au heath are: (a) au heath's hair is slightly longer, and with sideburns instead of just smaller locks of hair (b) one tiny stray hair over his forehead patch lol (c) one black ear stud instead of the cross earring, as he now wears a cross around his neck

vale's og sword, "pale moon cross," features white roses with green leaves. his au sword, "blood moon cross," features white roses with red leaves!

au heath's sword "avenger" is the same as his og sword, but the change transferred to how much boob he's showing (none)
