Honestly

Honestly, honesty is the best policy

For me at least, So to ever think

the least of these was ever me, was a lie from the start if I ever mean

most definitley

Honesty works for me because i’ve never been good at fallacy

that’s never been the direction for me

it has no glory, no moral to the stories, if done wrong can be gorry

like a bad experiment in dexter’s laboratory

The Allegory is that other people give fallacies so easily

and they do it so frequent that it’s unforgiving.

to do it in my face so boldly, thinking that your the only one holy

trying to get the upper hand on a good man that will not finish last

certainly the predicament is something we all deal with accordingly

I do it and ive done it and do it again shortly

Even if I dont pay attention, but we all do dont we

Slowly become a society who build corporations eating from papaya trees

Telling kids be one way and eat your lima beans

Telling a man he will never be, anything that he wants to be

Coming from me who was told the same things at some point of history

and slowly drain you of everything, rob future memories and bring casualties

Slowly ridding everyone of the truth, but eventually that shit comes back to you

Haunts you like an anna belle that haunts you till you do what it tells you to

Regret falling from the sky  like the people who realized why

We don’t have to lie, we wont deny

You dont gotta lie to kick it, but don’t precise.

Some things were meant to be unsaid to a pedigree 

What that means to me is leverage over everything

Leverage you can’t avoid if that truth is to much for people to use

Do it appropriately, do you pay attention

Forgot to mention that my attendance has a tendency to be tempted

Ask for forgiveness and try to repent sin, that aint it

Blog 5: Matt Mayhem Fasst

Social Networks and Digital Media 300

           The Social Media Fast was one that didn’t take too much to handle. I had a situation outside of social media that I was taking care of, and I was using my social media for support purposes around the time, so when I eventually had none, I was able to cope and deal without it. Throughout the process of not having it, I could pay attention to a lot more in general, and it opened my eyes to a lot of things. The experience was a needed one, but the best part about was, I had to go through it anyway through unfortunate circumstance.

           My fast was done on the weekend of March the 4th, or in other words, my birthday. My fast started on the 4th indefinitely, and sure enough it happened when it needed to . I was currently at the NAIA Wrestling Championships, and my phone charger that afternoon melted and short circuited to a crisp.

           I felt exactly like my charger, and I assumed that the charger had a witch from the Wizard of Oz moment seeing as it melted like so. I didn’t know what I was going to do because I was giving updates on the team standings on my social media, and there was the last final round session left, the most important. I had to say to myself, “You don’t have a phone for the next few days without a charger, what do you do?” Eventually I just decided I was going to enjoy the finals myself, and I sure did, and I had no worry about it. After the finals, and dinner, I just watched TV the rest of the night, and watched Naked and Afraid (good show by the way).

           The next day, which was the team travel day, all I did was play cards with my team mates from Kansas all the way back to Campbellsville (including the stops we made). We literally played euchre for a whole 10 series, and it was pretty fun, and everyone was off their phones for a good amount of time. It made not having a phone much easier, and I’m glad that we did bond as team mates.

But the more I began to see how much I needed to be able to use my phone, but I also realized how much everyone is occupied by their phones, glued to their eyes like the zombies described in the video. I could see how people would not be able to live without their social media, because it consumes our lives so easily. Whether on applications or on video games, people would crumble from the lack there of the media.

Overall, not a bad experience, in fact it was made better by my friends, so my fast was a well needed, and enjoyable one. I’m glad I got to see result of it, because had the charger not melted, I wouldn’t have payed attention to the Finals, and I would have stopped playing the card games with my friends half way though the trip (knowing myself). I would not have it another way.

 How do you feel about social networks becoming so much a part of our lives we begin to "live" for our second self?

I feel as though that in full scope of how social media is changing still, that the second self is becoming more common. People now a days are beginning to do that more, and that is only because people are realizing that social media is a way to disguise yourself, and truly turn into your real self (a true persona). They realize that it gives them freedom.

Does trying to portray an always positive attitude help or hurt our real interactions? What about society as a whole?

With having an awesome, happy go lucky, POSITIVE attitude, can have both positive and or negative interactions. I only say both because I have learned from experience of being on both sides. It really is dependent upon the people you interact with in society. The positive can be when someone needs words of  encouragement, or the person is just feeling flat, where positive gives positive. The negative can be on the most depressing of days when it’s just not the right time to say or do anything positive, where negative reaction can be anger or even more discouragement. That would be due to bad timing, or just not being the right person to bring positive attitude, positive bringing out the negative. As a whole, society has (in my eyes) become less accepting to positive attitude, and that people have come to struggle with how to take it when it is given. It may be the world that I live in, but now a days, positive attitude is starting to become harder to give and receive.

-         What does the “change in the media landscape” mean to the creation, dissemination, and consumption of information such as news, advertising, and corporate messaging? For instance, what effect do you believe social and convergent media had on the reporting of the recent presidential election?

Well, the Change in Social Media Landscape has contributed to so much of the history the world holds.  The way that technology (in media) has developed, we have developed with it. Instead of the news and information being harder to access and networking made harder for people to socialize, now information is at most of the world’s finger tips, making it a better for everyone else to access these things and build upon them. To explain the example, Social Media played such a big part in the recent election, and the campaigns of the recent election had a lot of coverage (eyes on them) whether positive or negative. That effected a lot in the recent campaign. Social Media Landscape has grown, from the shadows right into your face, and is easier for everyone to be a part of it.

1.) Social Media for me would be like all the applications on our phones and technology, news and all. Social Networking to me is being able to  communicate and meet new people, growing maturing social groups that turn into a web.

2.) I feel that one helps the other grow. The similarities of them being “Social” would be the relation. I feel that the network side of it helps contribute to build a better media, as if one feeds off the other.

3.) I think that they have changed so much from when both were started. Social Media now gives you the ability to network with people across the world. You weren’t able to do that years ago. I think it will just get more advance as life goes on.

My Predicament

So, in this video, I had my team mates answer the question given to us for the video. Before I did all of that, I gave my own answer saying that it has made it easier to communicate across a broad distance around the world. When asked Justin and Jace (the first two) and you could see that they had the same answer, except that Justin acknowledged the lack of relationship growth. The only other person to some what acknowledge this same thing was Tyler (the last gentleman) saying that it secludes people from being social with people in public. Overall, they all agreed that communication has definitely gotten more advanced, which can be good or take turn for the worse dependant upon the situation.
