Today is the official Summer Solstice. The astronomical event is represented symbolically by the feast day of Saint John the Baptist (June 24th), who is held as one of the patron saints of Freemasonry. The United Grand Lodge of England was formed on June 24th, 1717, and this year is the tercentenary anniversary of that event.
