Getting Pregnant Tips
Getting pregnant can be tricky, but there are lots of tips that can make a real difference in your ability to conceive. These Natural fertility tips ensures your body is healthy for conception.
Eat the right foods
The food you eat has major impact on every part of our being. This is why eating healthily is vitally important as it affects our ability to conceive and bear healthy children. The body needs a whole host of minerals, vitamins, and micro nutrients that are found in a range of foods. Make your diet varied but make sure it includes essential fatty acids, fibre, complex carbohydrates, fresh fruits and vegetables.
Avoid foods with addictive, preservatives and pesticides in your food as this can compromise your ability to be fertile. Eating lots of meat is not recommended for those who want to conceive. This is because meat raises the body’s ammonia levels, which can inhibit the implantation of the egg in the uterus.

Cut out alcohol
It is a good idea for the couple to avoid alcohol for the period they are trying for a baby or at least to cut down dramatically. Alcohol lowers men’s sperm count, even when men are only drinking small amounts. It stops the body from taking in those vital minerals and vitamins that are needed for fertility. Also, drinking alcohol can potentially cause damage to unborn babies that may lead to miscarriages.
Have sex during the time you ovulate
Conception is best achieved when you have sex during this period. Following your menstrual cycle is a key part of tracking when you are ovulating and consequently when is your best time to conceive. Most women, who have a cycle of twenty eight days, ovulate on the fourteenth day. The Fourteenth day into your cycle, high levels of estrogen trigger the release of the egg which then lives for approximately twelve to twenty four hours. This is the tiny window of opportunity you have to fertilize the egg. However, sperm can live up to seven days in right conditions and so your chances of getting pregnant are best when you can determine exactly when you will be ovulating and have sexual intercourse around this time for fertilization to take place.
Stop Smoking
Smoking just like alcohol is linked to numerous health problems. While smoking has not been linked to a lowered sperm count, it does cause damage to sperm DNA, which results in an increased risk of birth defects in the man’s children. As well as the risk of birth defects, research has shown that both men’s and women’s levels of fertility drop significantly when you smoke. Smoking can also cause babies to be born prematurely and this affects their long-term health and even ability to survive. There is also an Increase in the risk of miscarriage, and putting your unborn baby’s health at risk is not the best way to start a family. Before you continue with trying to get pregnant, please try to stop smoking first.
Have sex in positions conducive for pregnancy.
Most experts believe that the missionary position (with the man on top) provides the best opportunity of conceiving, though no definitive studies have been done on this question. This position allows for the deepest penetration which deposits sperm closer to the cervix. In addition, the woman can try elevate her hips with a pillow so that her cervix is exposed to the maximum amount of semen. Avoid sexual positions with the woman on top, standing, or leaning positions, as the force of gravity can discourage the flow of semen to the uterus.
Do light, gentle exercise
Starting an exercise routine is a great way to get your body ready for pregnancy. Not only will it help in your weight loss efforts, but exercise stimulates essential hormones. Avoid rigorous fitness regimes as this can lower your chances of being fertile.
Get lubricated
one of the best ways to improve your chance of getting pregnant is to increase your vaginal lubrication. This can be achieved by introducing more foreplay into your “baby-making activities” which will increase your arousal and therefore you will have more natural lubrication to help the sperm to stay alive longer. In addition, if a man is more aroused, he will have a better ejaculation which results in more sperm, which is a good thing!!

Endometriosis Symptoms and Treatment
Endometriosis is a common disease affecting women in their reproductive years. The name comes from the word "endometrium", the tissue that lines the cavity of the uterus, builds up, and sheds each month in the menstrual cycle. In endometriosis, tissue similar to the endometrium occurs outside the uterus in other areas of the body. These tissue growths, called "implants", can cause pain, infertility, and other problems.
The most common locations for endometriosis implants are the pelvic area - involving the ovaries, fallopian tubes, the ligaments supporting the uterus, and the area between the vagina and the rectum (called the "cul de sac"), the outer surface of the uterus and the lining of the pelvic cavity. These endometrial growths usually respond to the hormones of the menstrual cycle, so they build up tissue each month, break down and then cause bleeding. This process results in inflammation of the surrounding areas and the formation of scar tissue. The scar tissue can eventually distort the normal anatomy of the pelvis and interfere with normal reproductive functions. Endometriosis may affect egg and embryo development and sperm/egg transport.
Symptoms of Endometriosis
The most common symptoms of endometriosis are pelvic pain before and during periods (usually worse than "normal" menstrual cramps), pain during or after sexual activity, infertility and heavy or irregular bleeding. Other symptoms may include fatigue, painful bowel movements during periods, lower back pain during periods, diarrhea and/or constipation and other intestinal upset during periods. Some women with endometriosis have no symptoms. The amount of pain is not necessarily related to the extent or size of the implants. Infertility commonly affects about 30% of women with endometriosis.
Theories About the Cause of Endometriosis
The cause of endometriosis is not known. A number of theories have been advanced, but no single theory seems to account for all cases. Theories include "retrograde menstruation", or backflow of menstrual blood through the tubes, genetic causes, immune causes, or transport through the bloodstream.
Diagnosis of Endometriosis
Diagnosis of endometriosis is generally considered uncertain until proven by laparoscopy. Laparoscopy is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure done under anesthesia. The patient's abdomen is distended with carbon dioxide gas. A laparoscope (a thin telescope with a light on the end of it) is inserted into a tiny incision through the "belly button". By looking through the laparoscope the surgeon can check the condition of the abdominal organs and see the endometrial implants. The surgeon can then take samples of these implants for analysis and treat these areas with an UltraPulse or KPT laser to remove them. Endometriosis is categorized as "minimal", "mild", "moderate", or "severe" based on the extent of implants.
Surgical Endometriosis Treatment
It is now possible to eliminate endometriosis at the same time that the diagnosis is made laparoscopically. The UltraPulse 5000L carbon dioxide laser allows the surgeon to completely vaporize implants of endometriosis while sparing normal tissue. Only rarely is more radical surgery involving the removal of pelvic structures necessary.

Conventional Treatments For Infertility
Infertility is defined as the failure to get pregnant after a year or so of unprotected, well timed sexual intercourse. Women with reproductive problems such as polycystic ovarian syndrome often are infertile because they do not ovulate. However, before you rush out to the nearest infertility clinic, and rush out to use conventional treatments for infertility, there are a number of natural things you can do to improve your fertility and enhance your chances of becoming pregnant.

Besides infertility caused by disease and aging, most couples try to conceive using conventional treatments for infertility. These are usually the first line of treatment. If the woman discovers they are not ovulating or their fallopian tubes are not normal. They would probably be give drugs to assist these conditions. These drugs are designed to stimulate ovulation, correct hormone imbalance and ensure the release of an egg. There are also drugs for male infertility as well. However, these drugs do not make you fertile: They only work during the month they are being taken. Some of the common drugs are
Clomiphene Citrate
Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG)
Human Menopausal Gonadotrophin (hMG)
Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
Bromocriptine.
Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone(GnRH).
Unfortunately, these treatments are often expensive, ineffective and come with a wide range of side effects. When drugs fail, couples often turn to In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) otherwise known as test tube fertilization, or Intra-uterine Insemination (IUI) .Both these techniques are known as assisted conception techniques.
These treatments can increase the number of eggs released in any one cycle. Also, these techniques can shorten the distance between your eggs and your partner’s sperm. These techniques make use of frozen eggs that are fertilized outside of the womb. Typically, medication is given that enables a larger number of eggs to mature, and then be released at one time. After the eggs are harvested, fertilized, and placed in the uterus, the pregnancy develops in the womb just as normal. The danger is that too many embryos may survive, with the patient ending up with abnormal number foetuses. These are the unfortunate complications that can occur with external fertilization methods.
What one needs to bear in mind is that with assisted conception techniques, like IVF, we are going against nature; this is because we are asking the body to produce a great number of eggs in one cycle. In many cases, an unborn child can suffer from all kinds of chromosome defects or genetic disorders that may not occur during a normal fertilization process. When eggs are released in a natural fashion, only the strongest one makes it to a point where conception may occur. Likewise, when conception takes place as a result of coital means, the strongest sperm fertilizes the egg. It is just the battle of the fittest at play! On the other hand, when an embryologist fertilizes eggs in a petri dish, they may not be able to pick the healthiest sperm and egg. This in turn can create a number of genetic problems in the resulting embryos.
It should not be forgotten that when bombarding the ovaries with drugs, it has a long term effect on the mother. The woman, whose ovaries are being over stimulated in an unnatural way, runs the risk of developing ovarian cancer. This type of cancer is known as the ‘silent disease’ because it is usually undetected until it is full blown and well advanced.
