my newest star trek headcanon is that when kirk was on tantalus v in “dagger of the mind”, he avoided the intense feelings of loneliness brought on by the neural neutralizer beam by thinking about his overwhelming love for mr. spock.

at the end of the episode, bones remarks:

“It’s hard to believe that a man could die of loneliness.”

to which kirk answers:

“Not when you’ve sat in that room.”

the camera switches between both mccoy and kirk’s blank expressions. it is evident that they are both lost in thought, kirk no doubt reminiscing upon the pain he felt whilst under the beam.

the camera then pans to spock’s face, then back to kirk’s.

only upon seeing him does kirk smile—

“Take us out of warp Mr. Spock.”

1) none. this is just disgusting. a show doesn’t have to have sex in it just for it to be considered “good”. i can’t think of a single show that would be BETTER if the main characters had sex, and i think it says a lot about society today.
