this convo is so so vulnerable I almost couldn't bear to watch. he lays his entire heart bare in front of wsw. i've never seen him look so soft and sincere. he explains he was just anxious, he wanted to be with him so badly but he didn't know what wsw was thinking. but he knows that isn't an excuse.

Listen. Listen. One thing I jotted down a few days ago when I was rewatching the early Revenged Love episodes is "Chi Cheng + Food".

Because when they're looking for his snakes at his dad's company and Li Gang invites him to eat in the cafeteria and he won't, Chi Cheng says he doesn't eat cafeteria food but it doesn't seem like it's just a fancy rich boy thing because Li Gang points out that he actually never sees Chi Cheng eat at all.

And there are a few other scenes where it is a complete mystery what Chi Cheng was eating before Suowei slithered into his life and started feeding him ramen. His mom visits him with Yue Yue at his place and he's eating take-out of some kind and mama Chi is like the fuck is this, why can't you eat real food? This episode we learned he can cook, pretty damn well by the looks of it, but I would be dumbfounded if this is something he ever does for himself based on everything else we've seen.

Whenever he watches Suowei eat and really savor his food he looks so happy. But, except for when Suowei or his mother have fed him, and Chi Cheng digs in happily, Chi Cheng doesn't ever appear to enjoy eating much himself. Like he'll lay out food for Suowei and smile as his boyfriend licks his fingers but only take a couple of half-hearted bites himself. If I'm not mistaken, the three times we've actually seen him eat with gusto were Suowei's spicy ramen, Suowei's mother's home cooking, and the hometown corn.

Can I just take a moment to appreciate that Chi Cheng returns from his trip and immediately goes to Suowei, not for sex, but for the comfort of his presence.

He shoves Suowei over and after 5 days with his gf likely trying to have sex with him at every turn, he looks like a man who can finally exhale.

He's back with Suowei where he can be himself and get some unmolested sleep.

I think this moment was so beautiful for what it reveals about Chi Cheng's feelings toward Suowei. While he might be aggressive and often acting like he's just after sex, in the end it's Suowei's presence he craves. This has become his safe space with the two of them wrapped up in the soft yellow comforter, the color of warm sunlight that Chi Cheng seems to eschew in his own place.
