Neal still did not like the fact that his father had refereed to as 'my boy.' After the events in Storybrooke and the way he had attacked that doctor for flirting with Belle, just reminded Neal of all the cruel things that he did as the dark one. It had seemed that the darkness had obviously not left his father.
When Rumple had asked about Neal's time in Neverland, he thought back to when he had first landed here, through magic again and then he had met Hook. From the start this place had been cursed but it seemed that his father was oblivious to that. "What do you think it was like?" Neal said walking in front of his father, "I mean I was a boy, who had been abandoned and when I had finally found a real family, I was taken to Neverland and then I met Hook. It wasn't a nice place for a boy on his own."
Into the Great Unknown // Neal & Rumple
Rumple watched as his boy was searching the foreign sandy island that was Neverland. He had noticed that Bae had looked so lost and hurt while doing so, to which he had wondered why his son had felt like this towards this land. Rumple had hoped that his son did not suffer here, all those years ago as he did not think that he could handle hearing his son talk about anymore pain or suffering during the course of their separation. “What was it like here my boy." Rumple said trying his best to smile, “Did you have a good time here?"

Neal could see his fathers point, they had to find other people on this island, there would have to be more people, there was no way that the universe was that cruel to allow his father and himself to be trapped here. "Fine," Neal said turning away, "Its been a while, so I might do more harm than good." Neal gestured to the way in front of him, he was desperate to find the only people he thought could help him, which was the mermaids. Neal was unsure if the lost boys had still inhabited this island, he hoped that they did not as they would do himself and his father more harm than good.
Into the Great Unknown // Neal & Rumple
“Bae please,” Rumple said as he moved closer, tugging at his jacket to pull it down, in an attempt to cover his new scaly hands. Neal was right though, he had never been to Neverland, he had hardly heard anything about it, just of the old fairy tale from the Storybroke library. “I’m here now so let us try and find any one else,” Rumple spoke in a calming tone as he rested his hand upon his sons shoulder, “There has to be more people and you could help us both by navigating us through this land.”

"You don't know!" Neal shouted as he turned away from his father. He did not want his father to see the single tear falling down his cheek. He had never wanted to return to this land, it was bad enough that he thought that he was back in the Enchanted Forest Lands  but Neverland... Neal hated the memories of it, he hated the fact that this is where he had met Hook and learnt of how his mother had abandoned him. He just wanted a normal life with a normal family with Henry and Emma. "You have never been here. How could you possibly know about how this makes me feel!" Neal shouted as he gestured to his father, "Or how about how Neverland was just that little bit worse than our land, under the terror of the dark one!"
Into the Great Unknown // Neal & Rumple
Rumple could not stand to see his son in so much pain. He had raised his hand to see how much of his skin was covered to its old texture. He was almost back to his old dark one self, and nothing had pained him more. He needed his Belle here, so that his family was complete here and so that both his son and his true love could be here, to help him. “Bae,” Rumple said as he tried to move closer, to console his son, “I’m so sorry, I know how much this would hurt you, to see me like this.”

Neal mouth hung open as he moved from the shadows and into the light. He had thought that his papa's skin was going back to the way it was when he had become the Dark One but Neal couldn't believe it. As he moved closer to his papa, he raised his hand to the level of his eye, trying to block the glare of the sunlight.
When he was only a few inches away from his father, Neal lowered his hand, the sunlight seemed not to be the problem. His heart felt like it had broken into a million pieces when his father laughed. It even started to sound like his old laugh. "Papa," Neal chocked when he raised his hand to feel his fathers face but he the moment that it had felt the leather like texture, his hand quickly moved away. "Papa no," Neal couldn't look at his own father, too many memories where coming back when looking at the face that had abandoned him, the only difference between his father and the man standing before him was the clothes that he wore.
Into the Great Unknown // Neal & Rumple
Rumple looked up when he heard a rustling nearby and spotted his son. He took the few steps over to him and realized for the first time that there was no longer any pain in his shin. That could only mean one thing. Looking down at his hands, he saw the familiar green tint of skin and the long black fingernails that were the signature of the Dark One. He’d reverted, and that couldn’t be a good thing for anyone. Walking over to his son, Rumple was uncertain if he would even speak to him since their last interaction had been less than pleasant. “Been quite some time since I’ve… looked this way,” he said with a half-hearted chuckle.

Neal could see his father through the trees wondering the beach. He had seemed to lost and confused, and it had been a while since he had seen his own father like this. Neal wanted to call out to him, to allow his father to tell him that everything was okay, but he could not bring himself to do so. He was too hurt by everyone around him. Instead, Neal slowly walked up, just so he was able to be seen by his father, and waited for his father to approach him.
Into the Great Unknown // Neal & Rumple
Rumple had no idea what had happened. All he had were flashes of memories, falling through a portal, and ending up… wherever this was. It was as if the entirety of Storybrooke had opened up and everything had fallen through. He didn’t know who had been taken, but his first thought as he tried to get his bearings was Belle. Where was she? Was she here? Was she okay? It couldn’t have been good for her to fall through a portal while she was pregnant. How many people were here? For the first time that he could remember, the Dark One was in absolute state of panic. He looked around, trying to find a familiar face and not even particularly caring who that familiar face was.

Neal stared up at the man who had once given him away to the lost boys. A man that had allowed his mother to fall in love with someone other than his father and run away, leaving him behind.
All of these years, Neal had ran away from Hook, cursing his very name for what he had done and of course for giving him to the lost boys which made his life a living hell for many years. Neal almost jumped back, trying to put some space between himself and the man who had ruined his family. The notorious Captain Hook was kneeling above him and obviously could not recognize him from all of the years that they had spent apart. "Get away from me!" Neal spat, as he pushed the Captain to the ground
We meet again | Hook and Neal
Hook had spent a fair amount of time in Neverland in the past, but that was mostly spent on the sea. He could count how many times he had been to shore on his one good hand, which is why he did not understand the ways of this island. It was run ragged with the lost boys, who still seemed to be under the control of Peter Pan.
When Hook had landed in Neverland, he had pulled up to the shore and had started to walk along the beach when he could see a man lying face down in the sand. He was dressed the way that people from Storybrooke would dress. Hook moved closer to the man, unsure of who to expect and then as he moved the man around, so that he could now see his face, and it did seem so familiar…

Neal looked at his brother with a lot of curiosity as his brother stared at all of the customers in the diner, well the few that were here. It made Neal a bit uncomfortable when his brother had started to speak of Neverland. He was probably right though, the lost boys were in need of drastic help, and it did not help when someone had betrayed them, never mind the son of a pirate. "Well the lost boys weren't all bad, they needed help not a betrayal." Neal finished his bottle of beer and ordered another one. The last question threw him off his guard a little, he didn't like answering questions about his past or his father but his brother wanted to know. "I fell through a portal," Neal said eyeing his empty bottle. "I fell into this world and then met a family that took me in. I went with the shadow to stop him from taking one of the Darlings boys. I had no family and they did, it didn't seem right for someone else to loose someone because of magic."
More than strangers | Neal and Orion
Having never been in such a place before Orion walked in cautiously eyeing the people inside and keeping his hand lightly resting on his knife. Although the diner was unlike anything he had seen he did find it similar to the many bars he had visited growing up with the pirates. “Hmm?” he asked sitting down. He had been focusing too much on the other clients in the dimly lit diner. “Neverland? I hated it. Before I was left I was hunted down by most of the Lost Boys. They didn’t appreciate betrayal. Or my lineage.” Orion just shrugged at Neal, took a sip of his drink while giving the diner another once over before turning back to his brother. “How was it that the son of the Dark One ended up in Neverland?”

Neal walked up to the diners entrance and held the door open for his little brother and then followed closely after. They were seated in a booth and Neal had ordered himself a beer while getting his brother a cola, stating that he was still underage for a drink in this land. "So," Neal said taking a big gulp of his drink, "What was it like for you in Neverland. I mean you didn't spend all of your time on that ship or with your father did you?"
More than strangers | Neal and Orion
Orion saw the difficulty in Neal’s eyes. “Aye, so it is you did” he said lifting his head up to see they had arrived at a place with the name Granny’s shining in strange red lights, a type that Orion had not seen in the two other lands. “Is this the place you wanted to visit? It’s quite strange.”

Neal almost laughed when Rumple said that it wasn't him who was the problem. "How can you say it isn't me? I'm the problem that is why everyone leaves me. That is why I had let Emma go, because I'm nothing but bad news." Neal needed to take a moment to breathe. He had been shouting for what seemed like hours but it was only a few minutes. He sunk to the floor and sat on Rumple's step. "I don't care if you do magic," Neal said slowly and in an almost monotone way, "I couldn't be the reason before so I'm not going to be the reason now. I can't be. I didn't deserve a family back when I was a kid, hell I was the one who made you turn yourself into the Dark One. I made you leave the Ogar war, so my mom would hate your for that. See, it all leads back to me!"
Kept in the dark | Neal and Gold
It hurt worse than anything, hearing Bae say that he had felt abandoned even before he’d let him go. That being with him as the Dark One was the same as being without him altogether. He’d done it all for him, and that was what killed him the most. Something he had done to protect his son and keep him from being killed in war had cost him everything. But at least they were both here, alive. Even if they could never be alright again. “It isn’t you, Bae,” he assured him. He didn’t know who the Darlings were, but the rest he could assure him on. “It was your mother. And me. You deserved so much better… so much more than us.”

The questions that Orion was asking were too becoming increasingly difficult to answer. Neal had to think for a while for a way to say somethings without insulting Orion's father a too much as he had already said enough. "He didn't give it up because he was looking for me for three hundred years." Neal said numbly. It was still a sore subject and he didn't want to get into it with Orion yet, it would be to painful to talk about. "I didn't know that he killed her," Neal said looking down at the floor, "Honestly its the first I've heard. I was told a different story."
More than strangers | Neal and Orion
“I think she would have wanted to live,” Orion remarked as he walked with Neal only two steps behind him so that he could direct him to this Granny’s. He still could not believe that his mother was once married to the Dark One and even more so that she had a child to him. A child that seemed to favor his mothers looks rather than that of the crocodiles green skin. “If he isn’t that bad when why did he kill our mother? You said if he gives up magic. From what my father told me as a child it hardly seems likely that he will give it up. He had over three hundred years to do so and if he still hasn’t then I would warn you not to hope so much.”

"Good. I think she would have wanted that." Neal said as he looked at his phone. Granny's still should be open but he was very doubtful because of the blackout. "We can see if Granny's is open, it seems to be the only place where you can get a decent bit of food." Neal laughed a little to try and avoid the awkward tension but it didn't seem as if it was working. "You know," Neal said as he started to talk, "My dad isn't that bad. I know he's the dark one but he's getting better. Slowly, but he should be back to his old self if he gives up magic." Neal tried to smile at his brother but it looked as if they were not at a friendship place yet, only time would tell.
More than strangers | Neal and Orion
“Any goodness he had, there is not even a sliver of it left in him.” Orion had felt that his brother knew that but was blinded by some kid of hope that he held for the crocodile. He considered Neal’s offer for a minute or so. There was no bad blood between the two and Milah was also Neal’s mother so he must have felt upset after she was killed. “Fine” he muttered “I will give you a chance.”

"I've seen goodness in my father," Neal almost whispered. It was true, he had seen good in his father, years ago, long before he had become the dark one. Not many people believed this, in fact they had thought that he was born with evil magic and that it had passed down to Neal but Neal, thankfully, had no magic in him. "Look, we got off on the wrong foot. We are brothers so lets go for a bite to eat?"
More than strangers | Neal and Orion
“She went willingly,” Orion replied stepping back from Neal’s support, “and he isn’t scum. And she didn’t die. She was murdered by your father.” He closed his eyes taking slow steady deep breaths as Neal explained his history with the crocodile. Rolling his eyes he stood up straighter and looked Neal dead in the eyes. “You say you have been running yet are in the same town where that monster lives. Your father may not have any goodness in him but mine does.” He hadn’t seen it since his mother died but he knew it was there. “I’ve seen it.” Orion knew that was a half lie as soon as he said it. Although his father was kind to him he knew of his reputation and often witnessed first hand how cruel he could be.

"You could have told me!" Neal said as the tears had started to fall down his face. "For years I had felt alone and abandoned and that was even before you let me go." Neal sunk to the floor. It was all a bit too much to handle, everything was. He now had a brother, his mother abandoned him for a new family and his father was now starting his own new family and Neal's own family was more torn apart than anything. Emma was with the Sheriff and Henry was torn between two mothers. "Its not that our family isnt enough is it?" Neal said coughing down the tears, "Its me. I can't have a family or be apart of one. First it was ours, then the Darlings and now my own little family. Its me isn't it. No wonder Tamara broke things off."
Kept in the dark | Neal and Gold
Rumple just thanked the gods that Belle already knew about this and it was only Bae’s rage he would have to deal with tonight. He had been so afraid, for hundreds of years, that this would happen. That he would find out that he had killed his mother. He hated himself for it, and there was nothing he could do to make it right or fix it in any way at all. He had lost his son now, he was sure of it. At least he had found him. Even if he was never forgiven… he had the opportunity to tell his son what he’d wanted to ever since he let him go. Whether or not that landed on deaf ears. “I’m not the one who didn’t think our family was enough, Bae!” he shouted back. “Your mother… she promised me she didn’t believe I was a coward. But when I deserted for you, she gave up on us. On you. She left you alone in the house to go out drinking when you were so small you probably don’t even remember it! Why do you think it was so easy for her to leave you? To run off with some bloody pirate?” He sighed. “I shouldn’t have done what I did. The curse was new and I hadn’t yet learned to control it. And I’m sorry, Bae. I’m sorry, son. But your mother was no saint.”
