Aircraft safety

Air density is perhaps the single most important factor affecting aircraft performance. It has a direct bearing on:

The efficiency of a propeller or rotor — which for a propeller (effectively an airfoil) behaves similarly to lift on a wing.

The power output of a normally-aspirated engine — the power output depends on the oxygen intake, so the engine output is reduced as the equivalent dry-air density decreases, and it produces even less power as moisture displaces oxygen in more humid conditions.

Aircraft taking off from a “hot and high” airport, such as the Quito Airport or Mexico City, are at a significant aerodynamic disadvantage. The following effects result from a density altitude that is higher than the actual physical altitude:

An aircraft will accelerate more slowly on takeoff as a result of its reduced power production.

An aircraft will climb more slowly as a result of its reduced power production.

Due to these performance issues, an aircraft's takeoff weight may need to be lowered, or takeoffs may need to be scheduled for cooler times of the day. The wind direction and the runway slope may need to be taken into account.

I realize this topic may seem slight to many who run past it without much consideration. But veritably has tremendous momentousness in our time. Very simple if you see the right pictures and words is a concept simple to understand. There is in a 1935 publication in a mining journal of a paper written by Russian born, Morris Muskat (Riga 1906) and Ralph Dewey Wyckoff, born in Jacobsville, Mich., December 10, 1897, proof showing that some knew of the phenomenon at that time. Simple concepts such as, gas and water have higher mobility than oil. In the picture below you can see a picture of the bottom of an oil well showing water beneath and oil above. The picture below illustrates the well being allowed to produce, actually too fast and the resulting water cone. The water cone, as you can see in the picture, blocks the flow of oil to the wellbore. Of course, worldwide, many understand this concept, but there are others that need to hear about the information here. Simply, concludes, that if ever water is produced in an oil well that the production rate must be reduced

Bottom water can be pulled into a well by excessive producing rates: this may occur in either an oil or gas well. This problem is called 'coning' and is indicated by increasing water oil ratio as flow rates are increased. It can generally be improved by reducing the production rate. Production of water from an oil or gas well can cause permeability reduction. Production of water will make the fluid in the tubing heavier and can reduce surface tubing pressure to such an extent that fluid will reach the surface without artificial lift, but reservoir pressure might be maintained at a relatively high level.
