History
Woodbridge is the oldest original township in New Jersey. It was granted a royal charter, a formal grant issued by a monarch under the royal prerogative, by King Charles II of England on June 1, 1669. The town is named after Reverend John Woodbridge of Newbury, Massachusetts. The early settlers of Woodbridge included Captain John Pike, Thomas Bloomfield, John Bishop, Jonathan Haynes, Henry Jaques, George March, Stephen Kent, Abraham Toppan, Elisha Ilsley, Hugh March, John Bloomfield, Samuel Moore, Nathaniel Webster, and many others. It was said the Woodbridge was the site of the first gristmill or corn mill in New Jersey.

Woodbridge Schools Do Early Dismissal Wednesday
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — As a midday snowstorm looms over New Jersey, Woodbridge schools —like many other districts — have decided to do an early dismissal Wednesday, Feb. 20 Due to the impending weather, all Woodbridge Township schools will follow the early dismissal plan. The morning Pre-K classes will be dismissed at 11:30 am; Grades 9 - 12 will be dismissed at 12:10 pm; Grades 6 - 8 will be dismissed at 12:45 pm; Kindergarten through Grade 5 will be dismissed at 1:10 pm; the afternoon Pre-K classes will begin at 10:30 am and be dismissed at 1:10 pm. Due to the forecasted midday snowstorm that will hit New Jersey, Woodbridge schools in many districts have decided to do an early dismissal on Wednesday, February 20. Most of the towns in New Jersey is expected to experience snow that may transition to freezing rain. The snow is said to start after 11 am. The morning Preschool classes will be dismissed at 11:30 am; Grades 9 - 12 will be dismissed at 12:10 pm; Grades 6-8 will be dismissed at 12:45 pm; Kindergarten through Grade 5 will be dismissed at 1:10 pm. Merrill Park in Woodbridge, NJ
Merrill Park is located on the South Branch of the Rahway River, and is home to the "Progressive Playground". This means that funding is assumed by the municipality, local schools, community groups, and local businesses working together to establish and maintain the playground.
