Whoever turns to the Qur’an sincerely for the Sake of Allah, Allah will raise him.
‘Umar رضي الله عنه said: “Indeed your Prophet صلى الله على وسلام has said: ‘Verily, Allah elevates a people by way of this book (the Qur’an) and lowers others by way of it.’”
Sahih Muslim | Kitab As-Salat | 817

And the believer, if he is afflicted with physical or psychological harm, (and) he says:
This is a ni’mah (blessing) from Allah by which Allah expiates my bad deeds. If he feels this feeling, what occurred of the pain (calamity, hardship) becomes a blessing.
[Ibn Uthaymeen (rahimahullah), Tafseer Surah Baqarah, 3/24]

Allah
It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah but it is piety from you that reaches Him. Thus have We made them subject to you that you may magnify Allah for His Guidance to you. And give glad tidings (O Muhammad ﷺ) to the Muhsinun (doers of good).
[Surah al-Hajj; 22:37]

Ibn al-Qayyim said: “It’s from the guidance of the Prophet to offer a sujood of thanks to Allaah whenever a blessing is granted or a trial and affliction is lifted.”

When your nafs knows that what you're doing is wrong, perhaps that is the greatest blessing you can recieve from your rabb..? Because a person with no imaan doesn't feel the tang of poison in their heart from disobediance like the person with imaan.. You may think that your heart is entirely dead, but there is always hope for the person that can tell right from wrong no matter how far they stray.
