just think about isak waking up in the morning after even has already left for work to a note that says “sorry bby didnt want to wake you (youre hot when you sleep)” and isak doing a grumpy pout and texting even straightaway like “I didn’t get a kiss, asshole” and even replies with a photo he took of himself kissing a sleeping isak on the cheek and a “yes you did bby”

the stakes aren’t actually high - something like 50kr to the winner

but really this is about pride

because even doesn’t tell isak he loves him that much, right?

(spoiler alert: yes he does)

their friends join the bet too, and the votes are as follows:

isak: he can’t do it. no way.

even: i can, isak! i totally can, even if i dont want to!

magnus: no fucking way. even, my man, you’re awesome, but you won’t manage this.

mahdi: yeah, he can. i have faith in the dude. don’t really understand why he loves isak so much anyway. (isak: hey, dickhead!)

jonas: if i know isak, he’ll make even say it somehow. i vote no.

eva: i don’t know. even seems pretty determined. i reckon he could.

sana: i’m not joining in, but i don’t think he can.

vilde, scandalised: why would you want to? that’s not very romantic.

chris: sure, i believe in you, man.

noora: i lived with them for four months. i vote no.

they set the rules down before they start. even’s not allowed to say i love you or you too in reply to isak, or reply to “do you love me” with “yes”. he’s not allowed to write it either or text it to isak. He’s not allowed to text hearts either.

he’s not allowed to tell anyone else that he loves isak either. he’s not allowed to do the stupid thing that he does far too often in which he says to some annoyed third party to “tell isak i love him”

even isn’t allowed to avoid isak. the day has to go as it would if the bet weren’t happening

he has to last twenty four hours exactly. any breach of the rules within that time and he loses.

they start it at midday on friday, when the boys are all together in the cafeteria.

jonas does a ten second countdown, during which even whispers iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou into isaks ear as many times as he can get in, and isak just smirks.

jonas reaches one, and even falls silent for a second, then kisses isak’s cheek and declares “i’m gonna nail this”

“you’re so not. I love you.”

“i lo- fuck you”

all the boys just burst into laughter because even just nearly failed before a minute had passed.

mahdi says “don’t fail me now, bro. i’m counting on you to get me some money.”

they don’t even make it to the end of lunch before even’s announced “this is fucking impossible!” three times.

but he’s nothing if not determined

he’s decided to replace his i love you’s with disgusting pda - everytime isak says it expecting to hear it back, he just gives him a big old smooch on the cheek.

oh pal, you have come to the right place! all i do is read evak fic. i willl try to reduce this down but honestly its gonna get long strap urself in. (if there are any i have missed i’m so sorry! i only went through the last few pages of my ao3 history, i’m so bad at bookmarking fics so there could be easily ones that i’ve missed and it doesn’t mean i didn’t love your fic if its not here!)

wips that i’m currently reading:

you’re the only light i ever saw by kaleidxscope (so much tensionnnnnn but so well written and i personally love anything that has childhood best friends so this fic is gr9)

twice by intothewind (ok this isn’t just evak, its also josak and a strange mix of the three, which i previously never entertained the idea of. this fic is worth it though, it p much converted me cos its so brilliantly written and the whole fake relationship trope just gets me every time)

boom! by imsosupernova (my pal zoe is writing this fic! and its so adorable, despite being only on the first chapter, i have high hopes for what is to come!)

looking up and looking forward (there’s nothing back there for you or me) by evenbec (the future evak fic that everyone needs. it has evak with kids and its so good and i cry a lot (of happiness) when i read it)

are you lost? by nnooorraa (max is the BEST writer ok? the best. and this whole fic is just ahhhhh so perfect)

half blade and half silk by smokeshop (cause of death: this fic. my heart does a lil jump every time i see theres a new chapter, its so fluffyyyyy (even tho it can be a lil angsty at times) the interactions between isak and even are so perfect and healing and peaceful and warm. read this fic pls i beg of u)

i kept running for a soft place to fall by grinsekaetzchen (listen, i don’t know shit about inception, but this fic was perfect and lovely and ahhhhh)
