the most interesting thing about gojo satoru's character is his irony.
his abilities, while making him the Strongest, are simultaneously his folly. everything "strong" him is at odds with who he is, what he wants, who he wants. this is why geto's question during the breakup was so debilitating— who is he without power? is power all he is?
the answer is ironic. he has the six-eyes, but he couldn't see geto deteriorating right in front of him. he was honing his power, which was ironically enough a key piece in fuelling geto's defection. his power, which is all he understands himself to be, causes him to lose the person he wants most, which has nothing to do with his power at all.
he has the limitless, but he's limited by love. as a literary device, kenjaku is a physical manifestation of gojo's weakness, of his love— shibuya only happened because he couldn't bring himself to destroy his beloved's body, an unmistakable act of overwhelming sentiment and intimacy. gojo's strength is not unidirectional; it bifurcates and goes in one direction while his overpowering love goes in another, leaving him in some liminal place in between. his love imprisons him in his youth (shown by how he always returns to it) and it also literally imprisons him in a box (the prison realm).
he has infinity, which doesn't let anyone or anything close to him, yet he aches for companionship. gojo forms allies so "no one will ever have to be alone again", because even though he has the world in his hand, it's on the condition that it's his alone. gojo craves closeness (from one person in particular) and his powers literally prevent him from attaining it. his desires are not only in direct opposition with his abilities, his abilities prevent him from fulfilling his desires.
he repeatedly tells megumi that sorcerers are alone when they die, but he stays by geto's side til the very end. after geto appears to "come back", gojo's first instinct is to smile, which goes against any and all logic, six-eyes or not. his barest self betrays him despite the fact that he knows he killed geto with his own hands a year ago. when he confronts kenjaku, he does the inverse of what happened with geto— he defies his six-eyes and looks with his soul, something that should've happened when he asked geto if he was okay all those years ago.
the things that make gojo satoru strong are the same things that make him weak. he is supposedly a god amongst humans, but his folly is that he's the most human of them all. he yearns, he loves, he aches, he craves— gojo satoru knows firsthand that love is the most twisted curse of all because he nakedly bears its cross.

This new Yunho song really has me reflecting on his previous song he did I think last year to call out to those struggling with sui@idal thoughts and Wooyoung’s cover to Logic’s 1-800. And these two must’ve related enough to the themes, Wooyoung even has a tattoo that’s says “I’m never alone and I will never be”.
And I just think it’s heartbreaking that they battle with such loneliness when everyone including the members describe them as the most bright and lovable ones of the group. You really don’t know how these idols have lived their life up until now and things they keep secret. And makes you wonder how things would’ve turned out if fate didn’t work the way it did.
And I’m gonna call it fate because so many things aligned just right for ATEEZ to exist it’s wild. Wooyoung was a trainee with Yeosang at bighit (hybe now), a big company and he had large chances to debut but he left it all to succeed or fail with Yeosang. If he had stayed, he might’ve debuted with a more popular group. But considering the stuff coming out about hybe (not saying KQ is perfect the kpop industry in general is ruthless), I think wooyoung would’ve been much more suppressed and might’ve been in a worse place mentally. He wouldn’t have met San and regardless how you interpret their relationship, they are soulmates. San is constantly giving Woo the love he craved, the love he struggles to receive. He wouldn’t have met his ‘friend until the end’.
Then you remember Yunho and Mingi knowing each since 9th grade, coincidentally applying to the same company without telling the other and both passing. Then you have Seonghwa who had hit a roadblock with practice and was told about a boy his age who worked hard and got into a company. Inspiring him to push even harder and he just happen to get accepted to the same company as the boy who turned out to be Hongjoong. Even the revelation that San and Jongho are from the same Choi clan making them distant relatives.
It was all meant to be. They were meant to find each other, to find their treasure.

episode 3 made me so sad. as a woman, knowing this is how they see us. even so young. how the best he could think of was that he didn’t “touch” katie after killing her so that makes him good, right? it makes me sick. this world is so fucked up, that episode will haunt me forever.

So, I finally got around to watching Adolescence on Netflix and now I see why the manosphere is in full on damage control mode. This show did its research and did SO MANY things right because of it.
Firstly, they didn't have Jamie cartoonishly espousing his beliefs like a cartoon supervillain, because they did their research, and knew these boys are being carefully taught by the adults in the manosphere to hide their power level. They showed the full reality of what Jamie had become under the tutelage of the manosphere by letting their teachings silently guide his actions.
Second, they almost completely removed Katie from the conversation. That was so important because men would have jumped all over that to devalue the messaging by calling it another piece of feminist trash centered around women. Men were center stage in this, portrayed in respectful honesty, flaws and all.
Jamie's dad was legitimately an alright dude, but he had his family walking on eggshells with those tantrums of his, and I imagine the truth of that was such an uncomfortable but necessary glimpse in the mirror for men. My brother has never laid hands on a woman in his life either, but he has that same inability to emotionally regulate when he gets angry, and I think it was important for men to see what it looks like for the people around them to deal with. By centering the male experience in an honest way, in making a piece of media men might not completely dismiss outright, they get to see what they look from the point of a spectator's view, and that's so goddamned important.
Third, they left a lot of stuff about the Red Pill confusing and vague. This is going to spur parents to do more research, which is so fucking necessary, and it's going to keep the manosphere from saying, "Well, this and this and this is completely misconstrued." This is important because if we want legislation passed to protect young people from the Manosphere, we need to focus on the long term damage over time done to the psyche, on the actual damage they're doing to young boys, rather than focus on criticizing rhetoric they've got meticulously built dialog trees to defend. We need to build a case that the Manosphere is full of predators absolutely breaking the psyches of young boys for money.
Something I need people to understand is the Manosphere would crumble without adolescent views. If any of them go to meet-ups, you can see pictures with their fans, and they're just awash in a sea of tween and teen boys. It's fucking horrifying. We would do damage this pipeline would never recover from if we remove their access to children.

i know nobody cares what i specifically have to say about the riize and seunghan situation, but i feel like it’s important to voice my opinion anyways. i find it completely disgusting how sm allows knetz to bully them into listening to their every demand. i find it very disappointing that they announced his return and then allowed knetz to bully him into leaving.
many kpop companies, but SM especially, have no backbone and fall short when it comes to protecting their idols. think about jonghyun and sulli, who both faced immense amounts of pressure and bullying from knetz. it’s disgusting that, given their history, they don’t do more to protect their idols and the mental health of all their employees.
seunghan’s return from hiatus was super important, and it was possible that it would have at least slightly changed the industry as a whole. by not bending to the opinions of knetz, SM would have set the precedent that idols are people who are allowed to make mistakes and that knetz do not own these idols. by bringing him back and then having him leave again, this just shows knetz that they can even bully huge companies into doing what they want
so many idols suffer due to the abuse and bullying they face from knetz. if they even make a small mistake, they are subjected to constant bullying and harassment from these ‘fans.’
this was poorly worded and just a super quick way to get my thoughts out, but overall SM is a horrible company who supports delusional knetz who think that they own these kpop idols.

Btw that narrative of "idol X is my boyfriend/girlfriend if I can't have them no one can" only fuels the ongoing misogyny in SK. Idols are not fucking public property you don't get to dictate how their body look/how they act/who they hang out with 24/7 just because you spent 20$ on a fucking album.
That weird ass possessiveness/entitlement knetz are feeling is really fucking weird. The fact that idols of diff genders can't interact with each other without people immediately sparkling dating rumors is a huge problem. God forbid men and women form normal friendships or show each other affection without it being labeled as sexual.
And what's worse is that companies are doing absolutely nothing to protect their artists but are happy to bend to these stupid ass demands. Dating bans are the stupidest thing i ever heard and only contribute to those aggressive behavior some "fans" show. Companies are practically encouraging stalking/sasaeng and obcesssive behavior with this shit and then everybody acts shocked when their favorite idol turns out to be suicidal.
