Someone on Mercari was listing packs of the Nyan Nyan Nyanko playing/trading cards recently. I was lucky enough to have been able to grab most of them. And in the end, I am ONE card short of having a full collection. 😫 1 ! I really hope more packs of these cards show up on the market someday.

I scored another early (1999) Nyanko origin item which I'm excited about adding to my collection! Like the early notepad, it is an unassuming item that could be overlooked very easily, but I recognized it from a tiny image on the Nyan Nyan Nyanko homepage.

I really like the fact that the Nyanko designs are slightly 'off' from the final versions. It's a precious bit of Nyan Nyan Nyanko history.

FOUND. It took awhile but I did eventually manage to grab one from Mercari Japan. But now I’m looking for the long haired Chinchilla Neko Dango. I should make a wanted poster for that one too. 😹

All cuteness aside, please do get in touch if you have a spare of this snow Neko Dango. I am aware that there are fakes of it, but I am looking for a genuine one. I have duplicates of the pink version but have somehow managed to not find the blue one! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For many months now, I have been in the process of organizing my Nyan Nyan Nyanko plushie collection into their respective series and storing them together in nice boxes. I have also been picking up ones I have been missing, which is not so easy - especially for older UFO prizes. But Nyanko Burger gave me an extra conundrum! Both Part 1 and Part 2 have dark brown Nyanko Floats. In all the photos I could find online, they looked completely identical, even down to the ribbon tag! Without the paper tags, I don't know how someone possibly could tell them apart based on just a photo. Long story short, I already had the Part 2 plushie with tag, but not the Part 1. When I saw a tagless Nyanko float for sale on Mercari which I decided to buy it as a leap of faith. It arrived recently and I can confirm now it is Part 1 (or at least that it is different from the Part 2.) I took some comparison photos. It's still really hard to tell and I don't even know if one is meant to be the Cola float and the other a Coffee float? The colour is slightly different but I think the best way to tell is that the cup pattern matches up a bit better on the seam at the back of Part 2. Part 1 also has a slightly heavier mouth embroidering.

Edit to add: I compared these to the zippered pouch drinks set and I think the one on the left is supposed to be a Nyan Coffee Float, while the one on the right is a Nyan Cola Float. So there we are. :)

Today I am grateful that San-X still keeps a page for Nyan Nyan Nyanko. I saw there a mention of the 'first Nyanko' from July of 1999. It was called Nyankomaki back then. "Little cat roll" 💖 I recalled a fax pad I had seen on Yahoo! Auctions that described itself as being very early and had the same graphics. I bought it today because it had been lowered to a good price. And then I found this blog post which seems to confirm I am now the proud owner of the first appearance of my beloved Nyanko! These are some of the listing photos, it's so cool to see the development, don't you think? Apparently it is not in mint condition, but it is such an old thing now, it cannot be a surprise. I am very happy.

I completed my Christmas Neko Dango collection recently! I was waiting on a 2016 Snowman that I was very lucky to find someone selling in the US of all places back in July. It had to make a stopover at my sister's on the way to me in the UK as the seller didn't ship internationally and then the US mail got seriously hobbled. But it made it here in the end, just before Christmas as it so happened. :)

And the Strawberry Shortcake is 100% a Christmas Neko Dango! I thought there had to be some significance to the timing of its release, which was alongside an otherwise lonely Santa Neko Dango in 2019, and I was right. Look up "Japanese Christmas cake." I love it.

This is my Nyan Nyan Nyanko plush collection as it appeared in 2008 when I had the space to display it all! I hope to be able to do it again some day, especially as I have fallen back into my old ways and am picking up some of the ones I don't have as I come across them on the various Japanese market places. (Really want the LE 10th anniversary macaroon set especially. Just like everybody else! :P And the retirement pocket watch, which I am kicking myself for not getting when it was released.)

Generally speaking, I don't like Nemuneko as much as Nyan Nyan Nyanko or Neko Dango - but I do feel really lucky to have gotten this awesome snow one. :) It just makes me happy every time I see it. I like the long hair, I like the mint green colour, and the cute pink inner ears. It's a very special one to me.

I scored this nearly complete (& all tagged!) set of Halloween Neko Dango a couple of weeks back! I'm pretty excited for them to arrive, but I am going to need another 35-Litre Really Useful Box and a set of compartment trays to store them all. I am almost out of space in the ones I have, but it's a nice problem to have. :) And if my accounting is right, I ought to only be missing 8 Neko Dango now. :P I am hoping to be able to get to Tokyo in the spring and maybe, just maybe, get lucky enough to find some of them.

As of the 25th of September, I am only missing 12 Neko Dango of which I am aware (I have discovered that there are location-exclusive ones and it is anybody's guess how many are out there...)

If anybody has any of these they would be willing to part with, please let me know!

I finally gave in to temptation and bought this set of Sakura Dango almost purely because I am missing the 2017 Mike - Sakura (みけさくら) with the whole blossom on its head. That said, while the others should all be duplicates, I also haven't been keeping track of which ones in my collection have the original paper tags still, so there might be an extra bonus in that regard.
