and like. I KNOW a major part of the issue is, ultimately, the fact that I've been cooking it for so damn long. Like I can look back at the clumsy first version of it I dreamed up at fifteen and think "thank goodness I didn't write that version, it would have been a mess!" But then that tricks me into feeling like there's a final, perfect version of it that I Should be writing and I have to be sure I'm there before I get too far with it. I know that's not how anything works but y’know... there's a difference between knowing that and internalizing it. 99.9% of perfectionists stop revising their concept right before achieving the platonic ideal of their vision

this story has become such a point of frustration for me because I've been carrying some version of it in my head for.... easily over a decade now (probably almost two), and it has kind of almost become SO many things (a novel, a comic, a web serial, an IF, now a VN), but I feel like I simply never have the right combination of time, energy, and resources to work on it to a point where it feels like an earnest project, and not a concept test that could be improved if I just start over again and change this One Key Thing

and it doesn't help that I'm just.... so fundamentally bad at handling a big narrative project. I can't seem to help them ballooning into something complex, getting lost in the mire of worldbuilding and pacing and everything else, then going "phew! maybe I should put this aside and work on something smaller just to get a feel for the structure and format." And then rinse and repeat with the """smaller""" project every time. Remember Doghead? One guess as to why I didn't finish that either 🙄

evey time I see someone new follow the devblog or leave a nice comment on the demo I just kind of... feel disappointed. I just want to deliver something but it feels like I never will.

So I got the 1/6 scale Antu anniversary doll, which is incredibly charming on its own, and after handling so many 1/12 scale dolls at this point I kept being struck by her sheer size as well as how detailed her clothes are lmao

BUT

the real reason I got her is because... I've been wanting a 1/6 scale beast body for AGES ever since I first started doll collecting, specifically for a particular hybrid I've been envisioning :3c

The at.tv overalls are oversized but since this cat.tv is a dupe, I may go ahead and take them in a bit. I'd want to make a better undersuit to protect her from staining (this is just the base dress of the Antu outfit with the skirt tucked in lmao)

The final look for now uses the dress from the white cat.tv, which is also a bit oversized but the Antu apron cinches it nicely at the waist, and I like that the pops of red from that and the stockings are such a perfect match for the head. This has definitely put me back in the mood to start shopping for 1/6 scale clothes again..... very dangerous 👀💦

ouuugh i feel you on the hero forge issue. making a fat character was a painful experience. it's the same bs it's always been where devs just make the skinny body model wider and think that's good enough and completely ignore the fact that fat bodies look completely different and are built from different shapes. like they have fucking batfolk but nooooo apparently fat bodies is just a bridge too far in a fantasy universe >:/

RIGHT..... we can have every flavor of monster and anthro under the sun but making a fat body that looks realistic is just TOO much work. And never mind the fucking clothes, sure they can have adaptive sleeves and pants that will look different depending on what accessories you pair them with.... but we can't possibly make them drape correctly on anyone above a size 2.

I mean who could possibly have an escapist fantasy that involves being fat anyway, surely that's the reality you're trying to escape from?? 🙄
